If you are traveling to Kansas City and looking for a very comfortable place that is close to everything you will be doing in KC then this is your place. Owners communicate very quickly. I can’t say enough good things about this place.
Once you get through how amazing the property is (this can take a while since there are so many neat things on property), but then you realize that you are close to a ton of locations for food/liquor and other activities. Can't recommend it enough.
Unique and very cool, yet still a very classy place.
This was a guys trip which included my sons (21+), couple guys my age, and my father-in-law. All ages loved the property and the location was great. I’ve been to KC several times but this was their first visit. KC has Sports, great food, nice bars, and is a clean and safe town.
This is not your typical VRBO. That's exactly why we loved our stay. The place is in the Crossroads District, so there are dozens of restaurants and breweries in walking distance. There are also multiple music venues just blocks away.
The main floor is a giant room with a blacklight mural, a large TV, foos ball table and shuffleboard table. Behind this room is a huge bedroom that converts into a gym in the daytime. Finally, there is a gorgeous bathroom on the main floor.
Upstairs is another large open space with a fullly-equipped kitchen, dining area, seating area with two large TVs, a comfy bed and a large master bath with jetted tub/shower.
Off the back of the second floor is a private rooftop seating area with a firepit.
This is a superb place home base for a stay in KC. We look forward to our next opportunity to stay here!
Such a unique spacious and cool place to stay! We were in KC for a family wedding. The location was perfect and the host was responsive and accommodating! The space was beautifully decorated and fun! We would definitely stay there again if we are back in KC.
This was a fantastic place right in the middle of all the fun stuff. Walking distance to anything downtown that you need. We planned on spending the time exploring the city and spent a lot of time hanging at the place because it was perfect. Can’t wait to come back!
The house was wonderful. Great place for the family to hangout and celebrate our Rockhurst graduate. It was unique and had everything we needed to create a memorable weekend. The pairing next door was also a surprise treat. Thank you for creating such a unique and cool space.
The Dojo on Oak was the best place to stay in KC for a great weekend getaway! It perfectly located to allow us to walk to walk the city. The rooftop patio was an amazing spot to hang with friends in the evening and enjoy the fire pit. Emily was the perfect host and was very accommodating and available for anything we needed. This place was the most fun rental we have ever stayed in and it will definitely be our FIRST CHOICE the next time we return to KC for a weekend with friends!
Everything was perfect. Emily was amazing. She was quick to answer all of our questions and even got us into our place early for a reasonable fee. I would recommend staying there if you want to stay downtown.
I stayed at the DoJo by myself so there was obviously a lot more space and amenities than I needed but I had a blast.
The property has great energy and is close enough to anything you feel like getting into.
I’ll return with my sons at some point and base out of the DoJo for a game or concert.
Very clean place. Excellent location to restaurants and night life. Cool bottom half of building for hanging out. Loved all the art work!

About the host
Hosted by The Dojo on Oak
This 1920 building was purchased by KC Dojo llc in 2017 and went through a full remodel equipping it with up to date high end appliances, smart tvs, jacuzzi tub, sauna, beautiful granite countertops and bamboo wood flooring. This has created a high end experience to be enjoyed by its renters. The artwork was created by both the owner and local artist, SCRIBE. It is a glimpse at KC history and iconic landmarks in addition to some personal family references.
Why they chose this property
There is no other space like this! Very unique with lots of amenities to create an easy stay. Some guests rarely leave the space while others treat it as the hub for their fun weekend in the city. Local chefs, distilleries, breweries, TV famous restaurants, art galleries, chocolatier, coffee shops and the notable graffiti alley are all considered our neighbors.
What makes this property unique
Guests are shocked just after opening the front door! You are greeted by a large custom mural in the Big Bay. It is furnished with classy furniture and funky artwork to match the vibe of the neighborhood. Unlike most hosts, we allow small gatherings (up to 15) with a few extra guests but nothing late night. 60% of guests must be above 25 yrs old. We do allow licensed chefs to cater or cook on site (conversations must be had previous to check-in).
