It was great location

It was good except there were so many biting flies outside and no toilet papers and trash bags provided. Overall, was a great stay.

Wonderful beach weekend

We loved our stay at this property. Just walk a few steps through the frontal dune and you are on your own private beach. The water was beautiful and clear and absolutely delighted our 4 and 5 year old kids. The house is big, with two master suites. Owners were very helpful. We hope to be back.

Great family fun

This property was perfect for our family including , adults and young grandchildren. The water was warm and shallow and the grandchildren had a great time. The adults used the canoe and kyack and paddle board. We could all eat together at the large table and enjoyed the privacy of our own beach. Very relaxing and enjoyable.

It offers all the modern conveniences with expansive views of the water reflecting the brilliance of sunrises and soft glow of pinks and blues on the horizon as daylight begins to fade. A Wonderful Family Getaway — Already Booked for Next Year! We’ve been coming to this area for 25 years, and with our growing family, we were thrilled to find a home that could comfortably accommodate us, our daughter and son-in-law, and our granddaughter — with a second granddaughter on the way! This house was everything we hoped for and more. The beach access is perfect for young children, with calm, shallow water that feels safe and relaxing. Inside, the home is spacious, the beds are comfortable, and the living room has plenty of seating for everyone. The kitchen is well-stocked with plenty of plates and silverware, and the internet worked great throughout our stay. We also loved the outdoor seating and the extra touches like the canoe and paddle board! The home and setting are even more beautiful and welcoming in person. We were also so impressed to see that past guest suggestions (like adding bedside tables, a dresser in the bunk room, and additional outdoor seating) have already been addressed. It really shows how considerate and responsive the owners are to their renters, which made us feel even more at home.A few small suggestions that would make the stay even more enjoyable:•The outdoor shower didn’t drain, which made it difficult to use.•lamps on the bedside tables would have been nice and there were multiple light bulbs out throughout the house.Definitely not negative comments but ideas to make a great home better. Thank you for sharing your lovely

Lovely, spacious home. Didn't get to enjoy many nice amenities, grill, bonfire pit etc due to tight schedule. Could use dressers in bunk room & downstairs queen sleeper room. Beautiful view!

Disliked: Communication
My review may be totally different than another guest. The communication was poor resulting in a situation that made us look bad when the request of the family pet was overlooked once sending the dates of booking thinking after the conversation the fee was added to final payment due but on our part assuming the fee was added like other places we stay through the year and here before. This resulted in having to send a screenshot of the conversation through the Vrbo inbox to prove "family pet welcomed with a fee" with no acknowledgement of the overlook. The Air conditioner stopped working one morning and we were told we could drive to the store to get fans and close the curtains. This also happened when we stayed there yrs ago. The gentleman that came out the next day apparently was out a month prior for the same reason. The hard wired smoke alarm went off our last night from 9:30 pm to 4 am. No batteries in the house and no answer to email and text until hrs later I googled what to do to stop a hard wired alarm! This was our last night so maybe lifting the sheet brought from home for the dog caused hair after cleaning the night prior. With no sleep we were in a hurry and time was approaching. What we were accused of is why I am writing a review. I never sent a text about the dirty dishes in the cabinet, dust, sand, toys and a few cards under the sofa when we had to retrieve something. Or that there was no propane for the grill and that was dirty. Maybe a different crew.

Lovely Northern Neck setting

The house at Windmill Point offers spectacular views of the Bay, privacy, and beach/water access for wading and kayaking. The house itself is beautiful and well-appointed with all the kitchen equipment, linens, essential appliances to make for a pleasant stay. The bathrooms are beautiful, the bedrooms spacious and nicely furnished, and the living room provided the best views of the beach and water. We saw nesting osprey, deer, rabbits, heron, and geese. The location was ideal for cycling on nice, flat and very quiet backroads. A quick trip to Kilmarnock offered shopping and a good variety of restaurants. We hope to stay here again in the fall.

Like your own private island!

Our family of 10 had plenty of room. The kayak, paddle board and canoe were perfect for the beautiful shallow waters of Chesapeake Bay! There is a house next door but we still felt like we had our own private island! Sandy beach and warm, calm waters are perfect for young children. Lots of beach toys and beach towels available. Kitchen has many great amenities but could use some new larger fry pans. We cooked many great meals and the Weber gas grill was a plus! Make sure you hit the grocery store beforehand as it's quite a drive back into town! The Northern Neck area has cool shops, art galleries and lots of historical sites! We checked out The Steamship Era Museum and George Washington's birthplace! Diane was great to work with! We can't wait to return!

5th year - great family vacation

We have rented this house for the last 5 years. Cleanliness has always been a little patchy but this year the house had not been cleaned at all when we arrived, the laundry was done but bathrooms, kitchen and all floors were obviously not touched. It was not pleasant to walk into a vacation house and find other people’s waste. However, I want to say - I contacted Dianne and she responded quickly, apologized and refunded our cleaning fee. I know it’s difficult for owners to know what the cleaning company is actually doing, they can’t be there every week to check on things. This is a great house in a beautiful, private location. We love going there with our family - it’s perfect for our young grandsons. Once issues with cleaning company are ironed out it will be a 5 star property for sure.

Relaxing, private, and clean!

My husband, our four children, and I had a very relaxing time in this home. Unfortunately, it rained (and was unusually chilly) all but one of the days we were there. If the fireplace had been connected, it would have made the cold weather a little less disappointing, so that was unfortunate, but overall, it was still a lovely time. The owner was accommodating and very attentive/responsive to any questions we had. The kitchen/bathrooms/towels were well-stocked. The home is very quiet and secluded, which was exactly what we were looking for. The waterfront is exclusive, which means you won't have people walking by your house while you're enjoying the view. The water is nice and shallow - perfect for little ones to play and splash. But be careful of the coral on the rocks out front - it is sharp! Two of our kids cut themselves by trying to climb on the rocks. Pool/water shoes are definitely recommended! We look forward to visiting again when the weather is warmer and we can enjoy the beach more!

Great house and beach for families with small children

We enjoyed our stay. The house is large, laid out very nicely, has many windows with beautifull views, and the water access was perfect for our needs. The location is very private and even offers enough beach front to take a nice little stroll. The gentle sandy grade and shallow water ( to the break wall ) was ideal for us as we had our two small grandchildren with us. It was also very nice for using the kayak and paddle board. It's a wonderful art for observing nature. There was a family of Osprey that we enjoyed watching, and many herons, one day we were visited by dolphins. The house itself was clean and offers a very large open kitchen with a dining table that seats 10 comfortably. We have stayed in many rentals and have found that even large houses that sleep16 people will often provide only one small dining table. We like to have family meals and play cards / games so we appreciate this property for providing lots of room for that. There is also large island with bar stools. lots of seating. The house does show some wear so if you are looking for something pristine and luxurious this is not it, but for a relaxed family vacation it works well. Our one possible complaint is the ant problem. there were ant traps in place but we were still plagued by tiny ants and had to be very careful about leaving any food on the counters. This isn't a deal breaker for us, I'm sure its a seasonal thing, we are having a similar problem at home, but feel its worth mentioning. Only other suggestion would be more night stands; one king room offered none and other king rooms offer only one. It is a minor inconvenience but sometimes those little things are very much appreciated. Overall it was just what we were looking for and we will try to return next year.

Chesapeake Bay Beachfront Retreat

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property. It is a lovely home with beautiful views and ample space for a large group. The house was clean and well stocked with necessities. The property manager was flexible and responsive. We loved the beach and had great fun swimming, kayaking, canoeing and paddle boarding. We are big fans of the northern neck area and nearby Irvington, White Stone and Kilmarnock for their restaurants, shops and events. We highly recommend this home for a family vacation!

Dream Property

This property is absolutely amazing. The listing and pictures do not do it justice. The home is much larger than the posting makes it seem and the private beach is absolutely perfect. The shallow and calm waters were perfect for my children who enjoyed the water from sun up until sun down. There was an issue (that really was a non issue) that the owner of the property communicated to us prior to arrival. Although it was really a non- issue, the communication was appreciated. We were so pleased with the location of this property and everything that was provided along with it that we will hopefully return next year for a longer period of time! Thank you so much for allowing us to be your guests.

This was the second year in a row we have stayed here, and we absolutely loved it! The house was clean and smelled so fresh when we arrived, and the location is so beautiful. Whitestone Stay

Cant say enough about the views from this property and the feeling as though you have the bay all to yourself! Kitchen was perfect and there was plenty of room for the 8 of us (4 adults and 4 teens) to eat and cook and hang out and play games and just be together! We took the opportunity to spend a day in Kilmarnock (VERY close) with great shops and great grocery store (Tri-Star for the win) and you've GOT to try Small Town Burger for the best smashburger in the Northern Neck...and this is coming from a guy who loved NNK Burger before they burned down! While it in no way detracts from the place at all...the mosquitos and horseflies there are no joke, be prepared to go to battle with them!
