Architect-designed 2022 gut renovation converting three living units into one large family-sized 6-bedroom, 3.5-bathroom pet-friendly house with a spectacular roof terrace that provides panoramic views of Lake Erie. The house is only 15 minutes from Cedar Point and 10 minutes from the Cedar Points Sports Center. Lakeview House also has user privileges at two local beaches, one at Rye Beach Park, a 1-minute walk to the west, and the other at Willow Glen Beach, a five-minute wall to the east. The interior spaces, decorated in soft beach colors with travel posters, include a double height dining room and kitchen with adjacent outdoor breakfast deck, large living room with TV and pool table, a tropical-themes Tiki Bar and a unique and cozy loft. The bedrooms have a variety of sleeping options, from two single beds to three single beds to queen-size. And since many of us need to do some work while on vacation, the house provides three desks with large monitors, along with two printers.

We stayed for the Halloweekends trip and there was enough space for everyone. Heather and Ted are the greatest!! We will definitely return. Thanks again,

Glad that you enjoyed the house, you're always welcome back!
Overall, the house was great. It was very spacious, clean and totally served it's purpose. The furnishings are on the cheaper side, so be careful sitting on the stools. The town is also, a little to be left desired, but we didn't spend a whole lot of time outside, so that wasn't a huge deal.
The property it self was nice. Liked that there was a small park there the day we went to Cedar Point the park opened at 10 and they were still testing the rides wasnt able to do a ride til after 11 through out the day the rides were stopped because of lightening and rain and then at 8:00 the park was closed due the pending storms without any attempts to offer any mention of maybe some kind of refund or a small amout of money back. The next day started out good but ki d if gloomy

Cleanliness of overall property
The outside of the house needed a nice pressure washing as well as the inside has a smoky smell from cigarettes.

Sorry about the insects, but all the houses near the lake get lots of insects attracted by the moisture. We pressure wash it as often as possible but it's difficult to have a complete eradication without regularly spraying poison, which I'd rather not do. Regarding smoke, we've had no tenant issues with smoke before this visit or after, but I'll ask our housekeeper to double check and air out the house if there is even a hint of smoking, which is not permitted in the house.

Great Location, not the cleanest
Didn’t realize check in was 6 pm which seemed very late until we were booking the house. Wish it was earlier. The house had a weird smell when we first arrived, as the weekend progressed it began to smell like cat pee in the basement living room area. Some of the darts and pool cues were broken. Poor maintenance in the downstairs bathroom. Didn’t seem very clean. No hand towels were provided only wash clothes for the bathrooms. Location was great for doing Cedar Point and other family activities. Loved the roof top deck, again was just not very well maintained or clean.

We try to be as transparent as possible with the check-in time and it is clearly noted, along with a later than typical check-out time to compensate for this. We can usually arrange an early check-in if guests ask, as long as there is no one departing that morning but we weren’t asked and were not made aware that it was an issue. Regarding cleanliness, the house has had uniformly high reviews for interior cleanliness over the last three years that it's been open but we try to be aware of everyone's unique sensitivities and are always looking at new products and methods to help us improve. This has been a pet-free house until we changed the policy in June 2025 and there were no pets before these guests. There is no basement living room so I'm not sure what space is being referenced. The living room has ceilings that are almost 11' high with lots of natural light, see the pictures. Regarding pool cues and darts, we get a lot of kids who enjoy the games but inevitably break things so it's been a never-ending task to keep them in good repair. We're working on that one.

Baseball Tournament Stay
Overall the property was as advertised via the photos and very clean however we did have a few issues. The home was not very well stocked with the basics. Missing many items like garbage bags, pots/pans, salt and pepper and other basic cooking essentials. When we arrived, the entire home smelled very strongly of marijuana from the previous guests and most of the doors were unlocked. All of the kitchen chairs were very low quality and many broke during our stay.
Other than that, it works very well for large groups especially if you have a lot of kids and need many bed options.

We're glad that you enjoyed your stay and sorry that you had a couple minor issues. Regarding some of the comments, we provide the same amount of start-up paper products as other houses, including garbage bags. It's our policy to not keep any food in the house between visits for hygiene reasons, especially to avoid ants. it is a non-smoking house and but even with that we always open all the windows and air the house out in case some guests aren't respectful. Lastly, the kitchen chairs have been used very successfully over several years in this and our other rental and no chairs had been broken or damaged until this group.
Nice large space for a large group of people with just a few upgrades needed.
It was a very nice large space. It was also laid out so you could definitely have privacy and space for different families or kids and adults if you want it. Lots of TVs and seating.
The pool table is fun.
The kitchen was well equipped and super large and spacious.
Grateful for the linens, shampoo, soap, etc provided!

Beautiful views and an easy walk to a private beach and a playground. There is a sandy area at the beach and a grassy playground. Also a pier to fish off of.
Things we wish were different – more comfortable queen size beds. They were equated to cots. Guests in the queens felt like they slept very uncomfortably. The twin beds were very comfortable.
Some basic cleaning supplies, such as Windex or cleaning spray.
More/better furniture on the roof. It was just some wooden benches that were broken in spots and some lounge chairs, but they were always wet because it had rained the first day we got there and the roof nor the furniture ever dried out enough to use it.
It’s such a large place I’m surprised it doesn’t have a full-size washer and dryer.
No closets, just dressers.

I'm glad that you all enjoyed your stay but we always look for ways to make it the best it could be so thanks for the comments. The queen beds are just larger versions of the twins, we'll look into that but haven't heard that comfort issue before. The supplies are comparable to what are provided by peer houses in this market. The W/D has been a pretty good workhorse and is an OK size for a vacation house. Up on the open roof deck, the furniture is aways going to take a beating from the elements but we will investigate and fix any damaged pieces. Sorry it rained so early in your visit, but weather exposure causing sometimes wet furniture is the price we pay to preserve the great view and sunshine up there. Lastly, when we designed the house we specifically chose to provide armoires rather than typical closets, as closets would be very empty for what folks typicaly bring on vacation and that square footage would be much better utilized for general living areas.
It was nice to find this property available on short notice in the summer. Our family grew up in Sandusky and are fully aware that finding lodging in the area during the summer can be difficult. We needed this on short notice to attend a funeral. (Plus a couple other VRBO rentals and some hotel rooms -- a large extended family.)
For the family subset that stayed in this rental (4 age 50+ siblings, 2 with spouses and 7 adult single children) the bedrooms, bed specifics (lots of singles/twins) and bathroom count were ideal. The house offers several different spaces for smaller groups to visit. It is open, airy and uncluttered. You will be able to tell it is new construction targeted to be a rental. No closets, but small armoires in the bedrooms. No pantry cabinets to store non-perishable food in the kitchen. But two refrigerators and two dishwashers.
We could not figure out how to use the smart-tvs (none of us use tv-streaming in our own homes), but it was not important enough for us to bother to ask the host (or Ted, the owner) for "how to use" instructions.
This space was perfect for our annual girls trip. The house had plenty of space and had everything we needed. The views of Lake Erie were perfect! Ted responded to messages very quickly and Heather was nearby if we had any issues and very helpful with tips for the area.
Our crew members enjoyed staying at this property. The house has everything you need to make your stay a safe and comfortable experience. Ted and Heather are excellent host. We will defiantly be staying again.
