communication with host was a struggle, and he/she did not communicate to the cleaning crew that we had permission to arrive at 1:30; cleaner thought she had until 4pm. Found pieces of dog food on kitchen table. Cleaner travels with her cat which was in the property when we arrived. One of our party is allergic to cats. Strong musty odor in the property. On the positive side, property is well located, and we enjoyed seeing a deer grazing in the yard and playing the Pac Man game.

Clean beds, and king size bed in main room was very comfortable. Bathroom was clean. The house smelled very, very damp and musty and generally seemed very neglected. Several lights were burnt out, including some with missing or broken bulbs. Deadbolt on outside backdoor did not lock. Host was unprepared to turn-around the house after a long stay immediately prior so check-in had to be delayed by 5 hours.
Excellent home, hosts and place to land for my weeklong stay.
The hosts were incredibly accommodating and provided me with a warm welcome including salmon galore-frozen fillets and the most delicious smoked salmon. The beautiful cottage was clean and super comfortable with a great location close to everything I needed. If you’re staying on Whidbey, I highly recommend this great central stay.
Our family with three kids had a great stay here! Yes, it is on the main road but with fans you don’t hear much noise. The yard is huge and perfect for the kids to play and it’s well stocked with lawn games. (Note: bring bug spray because there were mosquitoes) The kitchen is also well stocked with all the dishes and cooking tools you might need. The hot tub was perfect in the evening. It was a good size and great location for exploring Whidbey!
When we pulled into the driveway, I was concerned. The grass hadn't been cut for a significant period of time, there was a tree that had been felled and partially cut up, abandoned equipment at the side of the driveway and a tarp covering something in the back yard. The curb appeal was definitely lacking. Inside, the house was clean and well decorated. The beds were comfortable. There is no central air conditioning. There is a window AC unit in the master bedroom and box fans in the other bedrooms. The upstairs gets warm during the day so those are definitely needed at night. The fans help to cover the road noise from the highway too.
We enjoyed the location for visiting family at Holmes Harbor and quick access to shops in Freeland. When we first arrived, I was surprised how close the highway was to the house and wondered if it would be noisy. It was not an issue. The house is situated below the highway, separated by a tall bank and vegetation. It was quiet at night and I slept like a log, even with windows open. They had a couple fans which were necessary to cool the upstairs before going to sleep on hot summer days. Bedrooms are upstairs, and the eat-in kitchen, full bath, laundry, and living room are downstairs. The kitchen is not fancy but is well-equipped. For fun and relaxation there is a pleasant hot tub, outdoor games to borrow, and a nice collection of puzzles and board games. There is a fire pit outside, which we didn’t use since we were at another location during evenings. Nice short term cottage for a family of up to five, as long as you don’t mind sharing a bathroom. Would stay again.
