My crew and I booked this house as we worked on one of the local Walmarts about 30 minutes away. The house is probably one of the coolest vrbos that I’ve stayed in. getting down to the house was exciting because of the steep driveway but I wouldn’t expect anything less. The house was comfortable. It smelled good and had everything we needed to cook meals and have the much needed rest that we needed after working all day will definitely stay next time We are in the area, Linda was great responding to everything.
This place was just right for us! It was 40 mins from Point Pleasant WV, which is where we were going for the Mothman Festival. It was about 35 mins away from Athens, where we took an afternoon to visit my Alma Mater. The house is very cozy, with three separate bedrooms all equipped with full beds. The mattresses are saggy and in need of replacement, but other than that we were fine. We had a little hiccup with the hot tub controls, as it got stuck at 103 and wouldn’t let us adjust, so the kids didn’t get in. We loved the porch with the view of the Ohio River, and even saw some deer in the field next to the house. The kitchen is very well equipped so cooking at the house was easy peasy. The keurig was nice, and there were some coffee pods offered. If we would’ve stayed longer I think we might’ve used the grill. Overall it was a great stay!
We loved our visit at the Ohio home!! It was perfect for our family. We love the beauty of the Ohio River and the seclusion of the setting. Linda was great to work with. We were there for a 2 day stay for a horse show and it was perfect. The house was just beautiful!!

Disappointed
All 4 beds were unclean. Two of the four had stink bugs, live and dead ladybugs and a red chigger. Third bed had multiple hairs on pillow and fourth bed had blood? Stain onattress cover and was not clean. No clean sheets were available
Refrigerator freezer was dirty with food streaks. Garbage can had to food smears also. This was my 4th or 5th vrbo rental, and the only one that I complaines about. Lighting throughout was dim.
We had a great stay. Very comfy and isolated. There was a road that went down to the river (we have 4 WD, but wouldn’t recommend trying it without). We were able to sit there and enjoy the nature in complete silence. The hot tub was amazing once it reached temperature. The whole house was clean (a different smell in it, but when it’s not frequently occupied it’s to be expected). All in all it was a 5* experience. My only complaint it that the hot tub was not useable on our first night because the temperature was set too low and not turned up early enough upon our arrival. This still doesn’t take away from the peacefulness and elegance the house has to offer. Thank you for the experience.
The house had everything that we needed with great views. Linda was very prompt on answering questions.
The driveway is steep. We were on motorcycles so I would stand at the top and wave the others up. Worked out great! Awesome windy roads to ride on. We would definatly stay here again.
We had a nice stay at the guest house. We all met when we lived in Athens, OH so we were close enough to go there one day to “walk down memory lane.” Relaxing place to hang out and catch up. Enjoyed listening to the frogs, seeing deer and fireflies and watching the barges go up and down the Ohio River.
The house was clean and stocked with all our needs. Beautiful location next to the river. We spent the majority of our time outdoors fishing. The outdoor space is amazing and no pictures will serve it justice. We intend on making this an annual vacation spot. Can't wait to go back.
We enjoyed our time together. Thank you for the great space!!!

Another Honest Review
As a frequent (multiple times per year) and long-time VRBO user (over 20 years), the cleanliness of this property and communication with the owner/manager were not at the standard we have come to expect. It is a beautifully furnished lovely family home in a great setting. The owner is not responsive to VRBO messaging or email, but did reply after I texted her personal cell phone. Linens are not provided, and it would be helpful if that were more obvious in the listing. When we arrived, the kitchen and main floor bath were obviously not clean. The owner offered to send someone to clean, but I had already cleaned those areas (toilet, sinks, counters) so that we would be comfortable using them. The floors had not been swept in some time. The check-out checklist asks guests to sweep the floors before they leave, so whether the dirty floors were because previous guests had not done so or because a cleaning company failed to do so, is unclear to me. Guests would not normally be asked to clean and also pay a cleaning fee. To the owner's credit, our cleaning fee was refunded. My husband made a couple of repairs to the property - one of which was mentioned in a review from January (anchoring the dishwasher). Between cleaning and repairs/maintenance, we left the house in better condition than when we arrived. Ultimately, though, it is the responsibility of the owner - not a guest - to ensure that the home is clean and maintained.
Property as described. 37 minutes from Athens, Ohio. Very rural area with scenic views. House could have been cleaner. Need to bring own sheets and towels.
