About this property

The Okra Inn

Welcome! The Okra Inn is a beautiful Bed and Breakfast located in the lively Mid City area. This listing is to rent out the entire B&B for your group.

We are a five minute walk to the Canal Streetcar line. Enjoy a quaint, direct streetcar ride to the French Quarter. The art-filled home features 11 foot ceilings throughout, beautiful molding, a spacious living room, dining room and kitchen, four and a half bathrooms, a spacious back porch for guests, a front porch on Carrollton Ave, and huge backyard.

The decor strives to be a cozy, funky version of classic New Orleans, with kitsch alongside original art, elegance alongside a feeling of homey comfort. We want the house to be clean and pleasant, but without a sense that guests should be afraid to touch anything.

Living area includes:
* 4 Queen size beds
* 1 Full size bed
* 2 Twin size beds
* Ceiling fans
* Wireless Internet
* Central AC/Heat
* Television (with Netflix, Hulu, ESPN, Fox Sports Networks, & all major networks)
* Kitchen equipped with dishes, silverware, pots, pans, glassware and other kitchen and cooking basics, as well as salt/pepper, oil and spices
* A coffee bar

The charm of the building, the convenient location, and friendly, attentive, knowledgeable hosts make the Okra Inn the perfect place for your group to fall in love with New Orleans.

French Quarter Festival 2024
The Okra Inn was a great festival house for our group 7. Some of us ran up and down the stairs (all of the bedrooms were upstairs) and some of us climbed the stairs slowly . . . Every morning we gathered around the roomy island/bar to have fun cooking breakfast and COFFEE TOGETHER. These original NOLA houses have some stories to tell and the Okra Inn was intriguing in that way. It was colorful, clean, and comfortable, especially the rocking chairs on the front porch. The property hosts, Lindsay and Adam, were friendly and responsive. We all loved our time together at the Okra Inn. See you soon, Mercedes

Great spot for a family stay!
We didn’t need the kitchen, just a spot for our group of 10 to stay. Adorable cool old house, spacious bedrooms, great place.

Amazing place
This vrbo was very cute and aesthetic. Lots of space and in a great location to access areas like Jackson Sq and Downtown NOLA. The house had a sweet southern charm and definitely lived up to New Orleans reputation. I was so thrilled with our stay and our hosts were incredibly accommodating and have a very lovely home.

Great spot for a family
In NOLA for a family reunion, staying here with other family at the Iberville location about 6 blocks (walking distance) away, Hosts very helpful and accommodating. Wonderful space allowing for both togetherness and privacy. Near streetcar, shopping for staples, and numerous eating options. We’d do it all again.

Hi all!

We're Lindsay, Adam, Penny and Ringo. Lindsay and Penny are fifth and sixth generation New Orleanians. Lindsay started The Okra Inn in 2014 and now it's a family business.

Adam moved to town in 2014 from Iowa because he loves the city. Adam's resume is one of the most interesting around. He is a former high school English teacher, over the road truck driver, union organizer, and relay assistant for the deaf. He enjoys reading, playing too many hours of computer games, watching sports and cooking very delicious food.

Formerly Lindsay co-owned a wetlands educational tour company called Louisiana Lost Lands Tours--which takes guests into the wetlands on kayaks and motor boats to teach them about coastal erosion and show them the beauty of the coast.

Why they chose this property

The Okra Inn isn't your average listing. It's a cozy lodge, providing a great spot for travelers to rest after exploring our amazing City. We also work with local artists to have their art on display to increase their exposure. And The Okra Inn is a work in progress- trying to figure out the logistics of becoming a greater resource to the community.

Thanks for looking us up. If you'd like more information, shoot a message.

We look forward to having you!
