About this property

The Guest House

Stay in the heart of the Driftless Region. A true outdoorsy delight. Minutes away from exceptional trout fishing, canoeing, and miles of river road. Public turkey hunting across the road (see picture). All town and county roads are open to UTV’s and the snowmobile trail runs through our property. Hickory Grove Golf Course is 10 minutes away and 5 minutes from the beautiful venue, Memories on Maple. SO MUCH more!

This is a very peaceful and fairly remote place. Unless you live on this road or are taking a peaceful cruise, there aren't many cars. It is an active beef farm and we also operate a diesel repair shop on the premises. This means you may hear a moo moo here or a vroom vroom there. It is our hope that you don't come here expecting freaky fast internet but we recently upgraded our internet so you shouldn't have too much problem with the basics. There is a smart TV and you can log on to your app of choice to watch your desired content. It may not hurt to bring pre-downloaded content on your device with appropriate cord to plug in to the TV as a back up if you have children. We have DVD's, games and puzzles as well. We are pet friendly for leashed dogs. (Please don't bring a pet and try not to pay the fee. We will see you brought a pet and ask you to pay the fee. It's awkward for everyone.)

The space is a 700 ft. studio above our garage. Studio means only one room, except for the bathroom, that has it's own room. There are two separate sets of steps with 4-8 steps each to get into the guest house. The twin beds are on the floor in the alcoves and people have been know to fall asleep on the couches. There is a pack n play in the closet if you need it for baby.

Come stay and be laid back people with us! We may not have fancy new cabinets or a jetted shower, but you can expect a very clean, low key visit.

Loved our Stay
We found the property clean and perfect for our needs. The host was gracious and the loft was well supplied. They sell farm fresh beef and eggs. We had the eggs for breakfast each morning, what a treat. We would recommend Hollow Rule to anyone staying in the area.

Great little place!
My family and I were in town for cross country and needed a nearby place to stay the night. This was perfect! Clean, plenty of sleeping/seating areas. Well stocked cupboards w/dishes and silverware. The kids loved the farm animals outside too, especially the kitties. Would stay here again!

Authentic country experience
We were so impressed with the dedication and effort that this young farm family has put into an old farmstead in the hills of SW Wisconsin. The studio rental unit was ultra clean and spacious, with excellent cross ventilation to catch the breezes from the hollows. We enjoyed watching my cattle dog encounter real cattle for the first time. She adapted quickly and even made friends with Darla (host dog) the second night. Last but not least, the well water was the best I have tasted in several years. We would definitely rent again.

I work full time selling animal health supplies and my husband operates a diesel repair shop (also on the property). We have a son, two dogs (Neuman and Darla), farm cats and cows.

Why they chose this property

We are 8 minutes from Boscobel. Our road is very quiet since there is really no reason to drive by our farm unless you live here or are taking a backroad cruise. This would be an ideal place for a family to stay. Beware if you have more than two kids they will likely have to draw straws over who gets to sleep in the “kid bedrooms.” Also, the fence is electrified, so don’t touch it! If you have kiddos we will unplug it. :)
