This is a wonderful little getaway. Clean with everything we could need! The screened in porch was very warm and relaxing. Being able to use the kayaks to take out on the creek was perfect entertainment.

Thank you for coming and enjoying our little oasis!
This is such a cute and relaxing house. There’s everything you need to have an enjoyable time. It was only my husband and I this time, but it is definitely a fun spot for kids….board games, large yard for running around & hide-and-go seek, bird watching, kayaking, fishing, etc. And wonderful hosts!

Thank you for the wonderful words. It has been our secret paradise. More work to come, as previous owners were not there for several years.
Stayed in the area to work on a property we had acquired. Chuck was easy to work with and quick on the responses to questions. House was out at the edge (of the creek , roof the area we we were in etc) but was right where we needed to be. Comfortable, great views, and quiet. Thanks

The place is a little deceiving in the picture, there is an abandoned trailer right next door that was hid from the pictures and the smell of the inside of old moth balls was a bit off putting but other than the stated info it is a cute place to stay, very quiet and relaxing. The decorations are really cool inside and the porch addition is cozy.

We're sorry you were disappointed. The trailer next door is definitely not abandoned, as the new owner has been doing a lot of work on the property and is typically there every weekend with his grandchildren and cuts the grass. It looks a bit ragged on the outside, especially the skirting, but he plans to replace that in the future. We have also planted some shrubs along that side to shield a view that way. Not sure of the mothball odor, but I have smelled it on occasion. The shed did have some in it when we bought and I surmise the previous owner used them for snake repellent? Could be the excessive heat and humidity brought it out. Apologies and glad you enjoyed even with these items.
My husband and I rented this place for a long weekend, and it did not disappoint. The listing was just as described, was neat and tidy, and had everything we could need and more. They even had fresh cut flowers for us!
The owners were readily available with any questions we had and even gave us suggestions of things to do in the area to further enjoy our stay. The creek In the backyard was peaceful and beautiful, and we loved taking the kayaks that they provided out and sitting on the dock and watching the wildlife and sunsets. Overall, a great stay!

Thanks for your kind words. You were the 1st visitors and we were a little nervous going into the weekend. We worked very hard in June to get things ready and still have more improvements coming. Hope you can come back again.
We booked this property to spend a nice family weekend on the water. My husband likes to fish and my adult children wanted a chance to relax. It was the perfect property to do this. Chuck is an amazing host with great communication starting at the time we booked. There are so many nice touches added to the property that basically everything you need is provided. The sunroom is fantastic. We spent most of our time in there enjoying the view. Talking about it this morning packing up, we all agreed that this is the first place we have ever rented that there is nothing negative about it. Thank you Chuck for such a great weekend.

Thank you for such a kind review. We worked hard to get things ready, but still have more to finish, but we cannot get a use-free weekend to do it! Hope you get a chance to come back, fall and spring is my favorite time.
Nice location, a bit isolated (a positive for me), right on the water, dock. Multiple, different kayaks for your use, which was great. Home is nice inside, with everything you need. Not thrilled with very nearby mobile home - bit of an eyesore; if someone was there, it would affected my sense of privacy; did eventually get used to it.
The cottage/double wide is updated and very clean. AC works great. Both beds are full size so if you are sleeping with a partner consider that. The kayaking is wonderful. We went early am before the sun was above the trees to beat the heat. The wildlife and peace and quiet are great on the water at that time. Nights are full of crickets, frogs, cicadas and I don’t know what else, but is it is so peaceful and enjoyable. Only issue there is the mosquitos. They provide lots of bug repellant located on back porch, however. Speaking of, the back porch is very nice all times of the day. The TV/ Internet is sketchy and just as described by Chuck. I have Verizon and had one or two bars during the stay. Kitchen is well stocked with pans and utensils for cooking and there are spices and condiments and two types of coffee makers - pour over 8 cup and single serve pod ( Kourig.) bathroom well stocked with soap/shampoo/conditioner and tons of towels. We don’t have a pet but they supply pet bowls, brushes, accessories as well as lots of dog towels for cleaning up after them. Lots of board games/books/puzzles. You will have to drive 20-30 minutes for groceries. Overall, a nice place, not luxury, but quite comfortable, clean, and relatively private.

About the host
Hosted by Chuck and Donna
We bought this unused dilapidated trailer in 2020 for a weekend retreat and reprieve from City living and traffic.
Removed all of the old furniture, painted all rooms, replaced rotted flooring, removed nasty carpeting and replaced with new vinyl plank flooring, replaced most windows and updated the bathroom. Totally renovated enclosed porch with new picture windows, tongue-and-groove pine walls and ceiling, new fans and lights, new flooring, siding, insulation, heat pump and A/C. Replaced the deck boards and rails on both decks.
The Mrs. took a new job in the area, so we purchased a new home nearby on the Potomac side of the Northern Neck in Callao. Our weekend retreat wasn't needed as much . . . although we do still come here frequently due to the solitude.
Why they chose this property
Quiet. Peaceful. Relaxing.
What makes this property unique
Waterfront. Quiet. Space outside. Pier. Sunrises and sunsets are spectacular.
