About this property

Quiet, relaxing site on 200 acres in New Hampshire.

I built my home on family land that was originally settled by Daniel Upton in 1830. The original farm house exists in its original state (not modernized.) I built my house near the farmhouse in 1990 to resemble the original Upton farmhouse. It is post and beam construction, powered by off-grid solar. The addition (for guests) has two bedrooms, kitchen and bathroom. I have built 3 miles of trails for exploring the property and its cultural and natural history. For those interested there is also a tent platform (we provide the tent), or the option to stay in the historic Upton farmhouse.

Incredible Property and Host!
Josh was great, and he curated his property and the home so well. We only wish we could have stayed longer and hiked more! The trails and the old farmhouse are a must do if you have a spare 45 minutes or more.

Lovely, too short stay.
This is an absolutely charming place. It is not only off the beaten path, but off the grid. Solar power for electricity and fire wood back up for heat. Propane powers the hot water and soon will provide heat for guests. Our host Josh built the timber framed house himself and has many of the tools and books he used displayed around the place. Lots of hiking trails right on the property as well as a few charming animals. 5 Stars all round.

Nirvana in the woods
Our host Josh met us on our arrival and gave us a history of the home along with user hints for the property. A beautiful post and beam property with an eclectic array of books, tools along with local collections. The propert is well maintaining and tucked into the hills of NH, only 90 min from Boston. My only regret is we did not stay longer….but will revisit this location very soon.

So Comfortable and quiet
The warmth of our host was there from the start, his careful and thoughtful attention to all details. It was immaculate and the softest bed linens. A very peaceful location. My friends enjoyed the hiking. Shower was hot and perfect. Kitchen was outfitted with all you need to create lovely meals. The house is a post and beam built by the host. I loved the the informational materials describing the history and the tools used to build this lovely home. Hope to return again soon.

Quintessential Monadnock Region Getaway
So enjoyed everything from the books to the view to the house! Josh was a terrific host, and we loved sitting and drinking our coffee on the porch in the morning while watching the hummingbirds and pollinators and Star gazing at night. This off the grid home is full of history- take the time to visit with Josh to learn about his family, his passions, and the homestead. Perfection!
