The property was wonderful, clean, and very comfortable for our family of four adults . Fully stocked kitchen. Also, the beach wagon, towels and umbrella made our visit to the beach much more comfortable. We stayed for five nights. Great location with easy access to the not crowded beach, Plenty of restaurants and attractions nearby and in a safe friendly neighborhood. Our host Richard was very responsive and accommodating to our needs. The check-in and check out process was very simple. We would definitely come back here again...
We showed up and found a clean and cool spot to stay the night. The beach access is only a 5 minute walk to the bay. This was spectacular! We were also only 1 mile from Jessie's Taquaria which is thr Mexican food in Norfolk. Overall this property checked all our boxes.
My family and I had a fantastic stay at this cozy like little beach house! We had a 5 year old and 2 year old who were thrilled to see the beach wagon and inflatables. All the games were such a great addition to our stay! We enjoyed the rooms very much and the fenced in back yard was a must with young kids. The walk to the beach is pretty short, but we drove to the boardwalk where the beach was much prettier. It was about a 30 min drive. Truly, the only complaint my family and I have is the bed in the master bedroom was incredibly squeaky and loud. Just a simple toss or turn and the noises are heard out in the living room. My husband ended up sleeping in there alone because I'm a light sleeper. I took one of the beds in the room with my kids. We slept well when we did it this way. So it all worked out
The house was so cute and well taken care of. Plenty of space for a larger group and very close to the beach. I would definitely recommend this house and stay again! Richard was so helpful and communicative. Overall great experience!
We were in town for the air show and Richard’s place was perfect for us for the weekend. Close proximity to Virginia Beach, and a lot of good restaurants nearby! Would stay again
We enjoyed our stay here for our Easter vacation. Richard was a great host. He was very helpful and responded quickly to our question. I would highly recommend this property
The house was beautiful and had the comforts of home. The neighborhood was nice and quite. We were literally blocks from the bay beaches. It was only a short drive to the Virginia Beach boardwalk. There were plenty of stores and restaurants close by. Would stay again.
Beautifully Renovated Home! 1 block from the Beach!!
This home and location were perfect! We came up from NC to send off our Navy man before he leaves us for 4 years! The home layout and backyard were just what we needed to fellowship and move all around the property! The home even came equipped with a game area so it made interacting while inside easy. It was clean and well furnished. We'll be back!
The house was the perfect size for us. We wanted to be near the beach on a budget and the worked great for us. The back yard was nice for shade and relaxing after a day at the beach. The property manager was easily available and helpful. The wagon full of beach chairs and umbrella was very helpful!
If your planning to stay in Norfolk and have pets look no further. The cottage was clean and well equipped and is a 5 minute walk to the beach. It has a great backyard totally fenced in so no chance of your dogs getting loose. The neighborhood was very quiet other than the awesome F-18 that flew over on Wednesday afternoon due to the military presence in Norfolk. We will definitely be back but stay longer next time!

Amenities were lacking
The property is just as pictured. Only received one bath towel, one hand towel and two washcloths per person so I had to do laundry while on vacation. Most of kitchen equipment was broken or incomplete so we couldn’t cook like we expecting. There are great local restaurants. There was no all purpose cleaner provided or any paper products. The neighborhood is quiet. Easy walk to beach which was also pretty quiet.
This was a nice place for our family vacation. The owner was very easy to contact and responded in a timely manner. My only complaint was the cleanliness of the cottage. When we first arrived, the bathrooms didn't seem like they had been cleaned. I found hair in one of the showers and on the edge of one of the fur bathroom rugs. If it was sanitized, I couldn't smell that any cleaning products had been used. One of the trash cans located at the side door hadn't been emptied. Too many flies were around it which was a bit of a nuisance. Again, nice place, but the cleaning staff could have done a better job.

Overall a pretty good stay. Fairly clean. Dining table was great for cards and games. Yard was great for catch (except i stepped in dog poop). Location close to quiet beach. Loved that. Neighborhood quiet. Good for taking walks. Kitchen equipped with cooking needs. Icemaker was a bonus.
Negatives/cons -
Master bed mattress was HORRIBLE; sunk to middle of bed. Poop in yard. Host didnt return 3 requests to measure doorway to bathroom for my wheelchair bound wife. She was unable to get in bathroom. We had to take door off! Very disappointed. I told him how important it was to get those measurements but we made it work. Driveway holds 1 car not 2. Gas grill had 2 empty tanks so we couldn't grill out the burgers we bought.
There's a lot of "LACK OF ATTENTION TO DETAIL" in this property in preparation for guests but we still enjoyed our time as our reunion of friends kept eachother positive and laughing.

“The Next Guest”
Fly infestation & Surveillance cameras. That’s what we remember from our stay. It’s unfortunate that some vacation rental owners are so eager to collect as much money from bookings, they’re not the least bit concerned about each renters experience. Our experience was greatly affected by the fact that the garbage was not taken to the curb. The can as well as the recycling was FULL!!
When we arrived we inspected the place, sure it’s as described, but upon opening the back door to check out the backyard, the flys swarmed in. We went around the side only to be immediately greeted by the stench and FLYS Circling both cans that were only about 10 feet from the back door. We moved the cans to the front only to realize the excessive brush and branches were also a breeding ground for rodents. Needless to say we were fighting off & swatting flys all weekend. We contacted Richard only to be told the situation Would be remedied in time “for the next guest” The Next Guest ⁉️ We also contacted VRBO however flying in, having booked excursions, 4th of July weekend!! We really could not focus on the situation until after we invested about $50 of insect spray & left. Just the memory of removing Flys off our food, drinks, washing sippy cups because when I say SWARMED The house I mean SWARMED!! To top it all off. The locked closet that would be assumed is a linen closet next to the bathroom. Is LOCKED certainly because the little snake cam that’s spying under the door is disturbing.
This property was as described. Pros: Property allowed us to bring our fur baby. The kitchen had all necessary items. Washer and dryer was nice as were the games, cart, beach umbrella. Loved fenced backyard for our fur baby, with grill, hammock, chairs and fire pit. The three bedrooms plus recreation room were also a plus. We also liked the location. Cons: The place was not cleaned well. Crumbs on dining room table and dust and other debris throughout the cottage. The outlet behind the loveseat apparently didn’t work. There were plastic bottles left behind loveseat (water and Powerade) as well as a few checkers. The stove top was smeared and could use a thorough cleaning. Underneath the kitchen sink smelled. The hall toilet seemed to be running constantly. Coffee container was essentially empty and laundry detergent had only a corner in it. There were no dryer sheets. I’m including the information about the coffee, detergent and dryer sheets because your description stated they were available.
Overall, we really liked the cottage and enjoyed our stay. Richard was readily available and check in was a breeze. We would love to return and take advantage of this nice property at some point in the near future. Thanks for allowing us to spend time at your cozy cottage.

So So Stay
Unfortunately, I would not recommend this house. The place was not clean. Our socks were black. The bottom of the kid's feet turned black. The kitchen counter tops were sticky.
Communication - The host responded quickly prior to check-in. However, when I messaged the host explaining that the house wasn't very clean and that the kitchen sink water drained to the outside of the house to the backyard causing a smell and bringing Flys there was no reply. A couple days later I informed him that the garbage disposal stopped working and that there were cockroaches in the house. Also, no reply. After our stay, I received a message from the host thanking me for being respectful of the house and asking for a 5 star review and in return he would reciprocate a 5 star review for me. In good conscience, I cannot do that.
Towels - There were enough for 6 people, but the house sleeps 7, so my youngest kids shared the thin poor quality towels.
Kitchen supplies - The pots and pans are bent and warped. Thankfully, we brought our own pots and pans. If we hadn't, we would not have been able to cook anything in this house. There were towels to dry the dishes but nothing to wash the dishes with so again thankfully we brought our own.
Master bedroom - horrible bed. It's no longer a dip in the middle as previously reviewed. It's now a "V". There are no sheets for the futon bed. On the plus side, the house is a block and a half walking distance to the beach.

Could Be Better
We had a nice time at our beach house vacation. Some of our favorite features were the wagon, beach towels, beach chairs and an umbrella. The fenced in yard for our dog, was also great. Overall, the house was nice but there were several disappointing features. The back door is filthy. The back screen door wasn’t aligned properly and the screen is ripped at the bottom. The MB bed was extremely uncomfortable and dipped into the center. It is def time for that mattress to be replaced. The mattresses in the other rooms seemed to be fine. There was dusting hanging off of the fan in the MB. The soap holder in one of the bathrooms is chipping and there is a small hole on the wall where a toilet paper holder was once hung. Bath towels were provided, but their quality was poor. The biggest turn off for me was discovering several pieces of long hair in them. The kitchen towels were no better. Every single kitchen towel was badly stained and/or dirty. I didn’t feel like I was using clean towels. The kitchen provides the bare minimum you need to cook and eat, however if you are planning to pack food to go to the beach or are looking to store leftovers, you will need to bring your own containers and/or ziploc bags. We weren’t able to get the electric BBQ started so ended up using the charcoal one. We were disappointed that we couldn’t the fire pit bc there was no wood provided for it. With some improvements, this house could be a fantastic vacation home!
