About this property

100 year old Farm Cottage. Minutes from the beach!

This quaint, rustic cottage is located in the community of Cedar, just south of Nanaimo, on an accessible, yet secluded acreage.

It is walking distance to the beach and boat launch and amazing trails, yet less than 15 minutes from downtown Nanaimo, as well as both ferry terminals and the airport.

The quiet yard is surrounded by beautiful old maple, walnut, and fruit trees and overlooks the horse pasture and pond. It is the perfect place to enjoy a peaceful morning cup of coffee or an evening sunset.

An attached games room includes ping-pong, air hockey and foosball tables, as well as a dart board, for all to enjoy and entertain a family. Kids big and small, young or old will love it.

The cottage boasts a cozy master bedroom on the main floor, situated off the main living area, and next to the bathroom. Upstairs is split in the middle with two additional attic-style bedrooms.

A double futon is available in the living room, as well as a single sized roll out cot, both with with supplied linens for additional guests. Also provided is a Graco pack and play, playpen for your little one.

This 100+ year old original farmhouse has been freshly renovated, keeping its original rustic charm. We love it and think you will too!

charming cottage
This historic cottage is charming, spacious and functional. The Cable Bay Trail out to Joan Park along the coast is an absolute must walk. We had four days of rain and still enjoyed ourselves greatly, thanks to the games room.

The perfect cottage
This property is an absolute dream. Everything was perfect about our stay. Well stocked kitchen to cook in, comfortable furniture and beds, great linens and such a beautiful property. We stayed 8 guests in total comfortably and had one of the best weekends I can remember. Took a walk down to the water and watched sea lions swim by against the beautiful views. The hosts were extremely gracious as well. Our whole group of friends is excited for another chance to come back and visit. It is exactly what we wanted and cozier than anything you could ask for. Highly recommend.

Beautiful and restful
Idyllic cottage. So quiet. Well appointed kitchen—everything you could possibly need has been provided including dishwasher and even items to picnic with. Owners extremely lovely—very responsive on Vrbo and just very nice honest people. Great layout for us—my mum has mobility issues so it was perfect to have the downstairs bedroom. Upstairs is a bedroom with two single beds that leads into another bedroom (no door in between, so probably handy if you have kids) with a double bed. Very comfortable. Laundry in the basement (so two sets of steep stairs but no problem for us). Beautiful horse paddock on property and two very happy friendly Great Danes. We wanted to stay longer :)

We are a busy family of 5, raising our kids with good work ethic and skills. We love where we live and have put countless hours into this dream.

Why they chose this property

We truly believe that we live in paradise. Our cottage tells so much history of the area and its generations of families that have once lived in it. We love its rustic charm and have tried to keep it as original as possible when we renovated it.
The community of Cedar has it all...beauty, trails, beaches, restaurants and pubs, to name only a few.

What makes this property unique

This property truly is a hidden gem. On a peaceful 10 acre farm our guests can truly unwind and absorb the tranquility of our rural lifestyle. We are walking distance to the beach and Cable Bay Trail community park, an amazing local hike that leads to Dodd's Narrows where sea lions and Orcas are often spotted. At the same time, we are within a short drive to any of Nanaimo's plentiful amenities.
