Great country setting
We enjoyed our stay! The beds were comfortable, the house was clean, bathrooms were updated and great! The only thing we weren't thrilled about was the gravel roads to get to the house. The recommendation to eat at The Drift was amazing.

Attend local event
World class in every aspect. Very comfortable, extremely well provisioned, fantastic views, close to historical bridges, super maintained and spotless, etc. Even sat on the porch very peacefully hearing the cows mooing!

Farmhouse
The farmhouse is beautiful, fully equipped! Everything you could need, plus more, just bring your clothes and food. Comfortable beds, beautifully decorated, felt like home away from home. Love the surroundings, felt secluded yet it was a short drive to Winterset. Our family will most definitely say here again!

About the host

Hi, we are Mary, Meg and Jane and we grew up in this house. Kelly and Sabrina, the next generation also spent lots of time here. We are native to Madison County, and know lots about the area. We grew up when the farm was very active with cattle, hogs, corn and soybean crops.

Why they chose this property

This property is very special as the sons of the original builder of the historic covered bridges built this house. It is just up the road from North River, a meandering waterway that provides a wonderful habitat for wildlife. Here you can relax and recharge while exploring all that Madison County has to offer.

What makes this property unique

One of the best things about the farm is star gazing. On a clear night, you can see so many stars and planets. Another unique feature of this house is the enormous plate glass window between the north living room and the dining room. If you sit at the dining table, you can see traffic coming from all directions. We recently remodeled many of the rooms, but kept with a farmhouse feel, however our bathrooms are unlike any farm bathrooms you might imagine. Here we selected rich textures and fixtures to elevate your experience.
