Situated in Dorman Bay, our waterfront property is a fabulous location with incredible and expansive views to the North, East and South.
We’re only a 5 minute drive from Snug Cove (ferry, restaurants, shops), 15 minute walk to Dorman Point, and 10 minute walk to September Morn Beach.
We have two dwellings on the property: the main house and the cabin.
The main house accommodates 4 private suites (Cypress Mountain Suite, Mount Strachan Suite, St. Mark’s Summit Suite, and David Peak Suite). The suites range between 200 sq.ft to 250 sq.ft. Each suite has its own private exterior entrance, king/queen bed, private bathroom with rain shower, heated bathroom floor & heated towel rack, flat screen TV, dining area, and kitchenette (mini fridge, microwave, toaster, Keurig coffee machine, kettle, dishes & utensils). Due to our business license, we're not allowed to provide a hot plate/stove in our suites. The suites have access to three outdoor lounge areas, a shared hot tub, a shared wood barrel sauna, outdoor shower, a lawn games field with BBQ, a staircase to the ocean, and a communal fire pit area. All suites have access to high speed wi-fi and Netflix.
Search each suite name for its listings and availability.
Please note: 1. No children under 12 years old in our suites, but are welcome in our modern cabin. 2. No pets allowed on our property. 3. No smoking anywhere on our property. 4. The suites are private rooms inside our main house and you can occasionally hear us upstairs as well as other guests in the rooms beside, so please be mindful and respectful of that. 5. Our driveway is very steep and cemented all the way down. There is one parking spot per suite down at the main house, but if you prefer, we have a gravel parking pad at the road, 100m past our driveway entrance. *During the winter season, we recommend parking at the road if the driveway or the conditions during your stay are icy and/or covered in snow.*
About our other accommodation and shared spaces:
The cabin is 1,000 sq.ft. with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, living room with sofa bed, full kitchen, large patio, and private hot tub. Sleeps 4 adults and 2 kids.
The cabin has a separate listing (search Hummingbird Oceanside Suites: The Modern Cabin).
There is a wood barrel sauna and outdoor shower down by the main house, which is shared between all the property guests.
The property offers a lawn games field (cornhole, bocce, and spike ball) with a communal BBQ above the main house parking lot for all guests to use and enjoy.
There is access to the ocean (no beach) using our wooden stairs down by the main house. Please use caution and use at your own risk. You can use the stairs between sunrise and sunset. If you plan on going swimming, the currents are very strong in our bay, so we recommend using life jackets.
There is a communal fire pit area above the lawn games field. This contained fire pit can be used by all property guests and each guest must provide their own firewood, kindling and lighter. You can bring your own wood or the General Store in Snug Cove sells firewood bundles. Use at your own risk, never leave your fire unattended, put out your fire when finished, and no fires during fire ban season.
Security Disclosure - Since we have 5 rentals on our property, we have four security cameras - all outdoors. One faces our driveway entrance gate, one faces down the driveway and the lawn games field, one faces our main house parking area, and one faces the oceanside shared lounge areas. They will be on during your stay.
Our family lives in the main house year-round (on the upper floor) and we look forward to meeting you!

Our stay was amazing. I am so happy we booked the cypress suite as it had an amazing view from our front window. Melissa was very responsive, the property was just like the photos. Bowen island was very fun. We would absolutely stay here again.
We loved the property and the amazing view. A wonderful breeze off the ocean. Great hot tub and sauna. Very nice to chat with the host.
Can’t wait to return!
This was such an amazing property to stay at!!! The suites are so beautiful and clean with a fantastic view of the ocean. Our hosts were super kind and even messaged us anytime there were whale sightings in the area!! We saw a small pod of orcas and some humpback whales!!The view from the hot tub is so insanely gorgeous, especially as the sun is going down, and was the perfect way to wind down after a long day!I will 100% stay here again,Thankyou Melissa!
This spot is as advertised for view and amenaties. We did have limited communication with the land lord, and were not readily available for quick questions. Which is fine if you dont want that personal touch.
We really enjoyed our stay in the Cypress Suite. The gardens are beautiful but the view is stunning. We loved using the hot tub each evening. There’s a nice footpath down to town. Melissa and Dominic have created a wonderful oasis. We can’t wait to book in again.
One of the most beautiful places we have ever stayed!. Host Melissa was so helpful and kind! THIS IS A MUST STAY!!! Treat yourself to this special wonder.💜💜💜
Everything was perfect. A peaceful space surrounded by nature but at walking distance from a really cute village. The hosts thought about every little details that made my stay absolutely flawless. I will come back for sure.
Overall the property was gorgeous. The view from our room was great. The use of the sauna was a real bonus. The new fire pit is a welcomed addition although wasn’t completely ready for our stay. For the room, we would recommend a small sink for the kitchenette if that’s permitted. Also it would be great to have comfortable seating for reading by the window and move the small table. Thanks for a great stay. Lovely property.
We stayed at this property for our elopement, and we couldn’t have chosen a better place. The environment is absolutely peaceful and quiet, perfect for taking in the breathtaking scenery while enjoying a morning coffee or having an unforgettable moment. We were lucky enough to see a deer nearby, which made the experience even more magical.
The view from the property is spectacular, with incredible panoramic views of the mountains and the sea. The location is also very convenient, being so close to the ferry, which makes it easily accessible. It’s the ideal spot to relax and enjoy nature. The check-in and check-out process was smooth, and Melissa was always available to help us with everything we needed. She made us feel truly welcome.
We are sure that we will return, and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making our getaway unforgettable.
Hummingbird Oceanside Suites was a perfect end to our two week Northwest vacation. Upon arriving on Bowen Island via a 20 minute ferry ride, we felt instantly relaxed. The property is only a short 5-minute drive from the terminal and very easy to find. The driveway leading to the suites is steep but gives you a hint to what lies just below - breathtaking views! We stayed in the Cypress Mountain Suite which is accessible by a pebble path and an easy-to-use keypad to enter. The suite is gorgeous. It is one room with a comfortable bed, roomy closet, table with two chairs, a mini fridge and a Keurig machine. The bathroom is beautiful with a dream shower. There is a large window that overlooks Howe Sound. Outside, there are multiple areas to sit and take in the gorgeous views. As a nice bonus, there is a hot tub accessible to guests - again with amazing views as you sit and soak. The personal touches left by the hosts were so thoughtful and very much appreciated - a welcome bottle of wine with a welcome note, coffee and tea, hot tub towels, and lovely shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in the shower (which apparently you can purchase in town!). There is even a heated towel bar! Everything enhances our stay.
Overall, this is a perfect place to relax, unwind, and plan your time to explore the island. The accommodations were exactly what my husband and I were looking for after our two week trip to Alaska and Whistler, BC. We would definitely stay again!
My husband and I stayed over the labour day long weekend. The location and view were absolutely stunning. The room was clean and welcoming, and the hot tub was a lovely addition. They aren't kidding about the steepness of the driveway, but we made it up and down in our ancient little pick-up truck, so don't be too intimidated. All in all a great stay.
Melissa and Dominic go above and beyond to make sure your stay is as pleasant as possible. The property is in a stunning location and is maintained with care and love. Our room provided us with everything we could ever need. We will definitely be returning to Hummingbird Oceanside Suite.
Hi! My name is Melissa and I live on Bowen Island, Canada. I love to travel, hike, and enjoy the outdoors.
My husband, Dominic, and I moved to Bowen Island in November 2020. We both work on the island and look forward to meeting you!
Why they chose this property
We fell in love with this property and Bowen Island in the summer of 2020 and then subsequently purchased the bare land lot in November 2020. Shortly after in March 2021, we started building the main house and the cabin simultaneously. In December 2021, my husband and I were able to move into the main house, and in February/March 2022 we slowly opened up the suites for guests. The cabin was ready by June 2022.
