Easy check-in, great efficient kitchen facilities, good online contact with host. Easy, relaxing, cozy stay. Great overnight/weekend getaway. It was just the thing we were looking for.
Becky was absolutely amazing to work with. A hail storm with heavy rain and strong wind affected our visit but Becky communicated with us every step thru this unusual storm. A great host to rent from!!!!
This is a true gem! Becky, the host, was absolutely wonderful and the boxcar is one of my favorite stays yet! My entire family enjoyed this place and all of the horses and pups, we hope to be back one day!
We enjoyed our stay in El Capitan. It had everything we needed for our one night stay. Excellent communication with host. Host went out of the way to provide all the extra little details that made our stay comfortable. If we’re ever in the area again, we would definitely stay here.
We loved El Capitan! A perfect base for visiting Palo Duro Canyon, Amarillo and the Panhandle.
Everything about this visit was great from the excellent communication from an amazing host to all the amenities and the quality of the very memorable lodging. Becky made us feel very welcome, and offered some tips on things to do and places to visit.
We’re hoping to return again for a summer visit.
We used this place as an overnight pit stop on our way to vacation. It was peaceful & relaxing for 2 people. Everything was nice & clean. Gorgeous views of horses in the surrounding fields. We will definitely come back!
Location was perfect, close to everything. Becky had our place full of goodies. Things we might have forgotten. She checked up on us every day. We enjoyed our stay.
Becky, the boxcar is a great idea and your refurbishment is awesome. Being from the DFW area we really enjoyed the big sky and the added bonus of the moon peeking thru the skylight. A fantastic place to stay. Thank you for your hospitality.
Our host Becky provided the two of us with a unique and quiet venue for the duration of our stay. Appreciated having the refrigerator / freezer available to make ice cubes that went into our water bottles for a warm outdoor hike at Palo Duro Canyon State Park. Was also grateful of the host making the boxcar functional, comfortable, and air conditioned during the warm afternoons. Enjoyed spending time with the horses and the dogs, too. Thank you for a terrific stay!
This was hands down the most unique place we stayed on our 15 day Road Trip. We both loved it. Check in was effortless. The boxcar was so clean and every little detail was thought of. We were greeted with friendly dogs and the most beautiful scenery. We enjoyed a fire and listening to the birds while watching the horses. I actually relaxed here. A storm rolled in and we sat inside and watched the lightning show from the couch next to the glass garage door. So cool. Far better than watching TV. Though that was there too if we wanted. If you get the chance to stay here. Highly recommended.

This is a great place to stay for some quiet and some really big skies, and it is very close to Palo Duro Canyon State Park and the cute town of Canyon, TX. The rail car is absolutely adorable and extremely comfortable and clean. I wish I had been able to stay longer and will definitely come back. Becky is a great host - she offered so many nice details in her hospitality which made me feel at home, and I also felt like I had privacy. I stayed here in the winter and would like to return in the warmer months and enjoy the outdoor seating and grill.
My wife, two children and our dog Norman absolutely loved our stay at El Capitan. Becky could not have been more hospitable and the boxcar is as homey and comfy as it gets. Becky had truly thought of everything. We all enjoyed the waking up to the horses and donkeys in the pastures and the sunset in the evening is breathtaking. We look forward to coming back and visiting her other boxcar the Grand Chief!
This was one of our most memorable stays in a VRBO. This is not to missed if you love some adventure, quiet, wonderful hosting, the great outdoors, fun decor, etc. We enjoyed this stay so much we were sending pictures to family & friends who we thought would love it, too. Thx, Becky, for creating this kind of experience. Great way to enjoy Palo Duro Canyon & the surrounding area! We also appreciated the snacks and extra provisions.
This was the kick off to our family vacation towards the west! The boxcar is incredibly beautiful I loved the decor and landscaping.
My kids were so excited for the sweet dogs and the fact they were sleeping in a train car.
It happened to be the last full moon of the year the night we stayed and laying down seeing the moon through the skylights was my most favorite.
I love finding unique places to stay and this one gave me so much inspiration!
El Capitan was one of our favorite places on our recent land cruise! We had a great night’s sleep in the super comfy bed. Our host, Becky, was so enjoyable to visit with in the evening. We loved the snacks she provided, too. We really loved everything about El Capitan & highly recommend it!
