Lack of care
Two stars is probably a bit generous, to be honest.
First, credit where credit’s due: the place was clean, and the plumbing worked well.
The cons:
-The owner never got in touch with me about check-in instructions. I messaged two days prior, called a few hours before (his voicemail was full), and finally texted. Told me he’d send it but didn’t. I had to call VRBO, and they finally called him a few times to get a response. Finally received instructions well after check-in time.
-Amenities: barest of bare bones. There was not enough coffee to make five servings (I was there for five days). There was also only one container of hand soap in the bathroom; none for the shower and none in the kitchen. This seemed a bit ridiculous.
-Tech stuff: the WiFi didn’t work. This was an enormous problem because I’m a student, so I needed to use data on my phone in order to get work done. This also meant that the Roku (which I had to shut down and restart to even try to get to work) couldn’t stream anything, so TV was pointless.
-I had to plug in lamps and microwave to use them (which is fine). However, one lamp had a bent plug that made it very difficult (and possibly concerning) to plug in. The microwave didn’t work at all. I tried multiple plugs and outlets, and all the light switches, in case they were connected. Nothing.
This strikes me as a location that has a cleaning service, but which hasn’t otherwise been given any attention for a long time.
