About the host
Hosted by Neranga Jayaweera
Nimal and Indrani Jayaweera are the loving parents of three wonderful children - two daughters, Dulhari and Nirmani, and their son, Neranga. The Jayaweera Family grew up in Bentota, a beautiful coastal village they've been lucky to call home.
Nimal, the fourth of nine children, inherited the house from his late father Austin Jayaweera in 1985 - the same year he married his lovely wife Indrani. Within these walls, they built a life, raised their children, and created a space filled with warmth, laughter, and cherished memories.
Over time, Fortress de Jayaweera became more than a home — it became a symbol of family resilience and pride. It has welcomed countless guests, witnessed milestones, and stood strong through storms both literal and symbolic.
After two decades of living in the villa, the Jayaweeras moved into a new home nearby. But the heartstrings to this old house remained. In 2018, they embarked on a mission to breathe new life into their ancestral home — thoughtfully restoring it while preserving its historic soul.
The result is the boutique villa you see today — a seamless blend of character, comfort, and charm, set amid Bentota’s lush, tropical beauty. The Jayaweeras are honoured to open their family’s legacy to you and welcome you as part of their continuing story.

Why they chose this property
Bentota, located in the southwestern coast of Sri Lanka, offers an inviting mix of natural allure and cultural depth. Positioned where the Bentota River meets the expansive Indian Ocean, the town holds a unique dual charm. Its picturesque beaches provide a tranquil backdrop, while the river offers a range of vibrant water activities. This balance of relaxation and adventure, coupled with its rich cultural touchpoints, has established Bentota as a top destination for many travelers, both local and international.
What makes this property unique
The villa was built in 1889 and has a lot history and heritage. The colonial influence in it's architecture makes it a unique home and we are proud to have preserved it over the years.
