About this property

San Juan Beauty

A great home to come and relax in, this location is truly hard to beat; the vibes are immaculate. Every room (aside from the kitchen) has a functioning Smart TV with multiple streaming services available throughout. The kitchen contains everything you'd want and need to prepare something in the kitchen! From a Dutch baby, paella pan, and tart tin to a trillion spices, a stunning kitchen island, and a Brita water filter, there's so much you could make if you read a recipe book! My favorite is "Dessert Person" by Claire Saffitz (Try the Chocolate Chip cookies if you get the chance!). Please sit inside the dining room after cooking or ordering a parrillada from El Pato or tacos from Taco Palenque and watch a movie using the 55" TV! My home was decorated and designed with a lot of care for aesthetic and functionality, and I do hope you enjoy booking with me.

The Basilica de San Juan del Valle is a 2 minute drive from the house. Truly is such a gorgeous walk as there are life-size statues depicting the crucifixion of Jesus, but is such a unique experience regardless of religion. I walk my dog, Flora, there every morning (its 0.75 mi total to walk the entire thing). Across the street is the gorgeous Geldman's Stained Glass Museum, which I also recommend going to check out. The outside is all black to help preserve the interior show room regardless of time of day, it is very similar to a cathedral in the interior!

The real kicker is the amazing food you can get in the area. Ranging from really affordable and banging, to moderately priced and very delicious, many of the restaurants (and taquerias) I enjoy if they are local. Try a Bistek or Al Pastor "street" taco if you get the opportunity! You will find incredible Mexican and Tex-Mex food on many streets. The house is 5 minutes from two grocery stores (including HEB Plus), 2 minutes from the Freeway, and 10 minutes to McAllen/Pharr. If you need recommendations, please feel free to ask! I have some great spots to check out :D

Went for my fathers 77th! Saturday came along and we did not want leave! So relaxing:)
The space is wonderful, has everything you need. Just a neat home!!! The only down fall is that our refrigerator did not work. I was in communication with owner he said he was sending someone. Don’t know if anyone ever came. When we came back from the party late and the fridge still was not working. But we would love to stay again in the future:)

San Juan stay (Dec.15-18)
The pictures in the listing doesn't give it justice! The house was pretty much amazing! I've stayed in my fair shares of rentals where most of them were not as equipped as this house. Leonardo was very good at communicating with me. I would probably stay here again. My family really liked staying here!

Handy location for birders.
Comfortably appointed rental home with good space in a quiet residential neighborhood close to services. For birders, it is conveniently close to Edinburg Wetlands, Santa Ana National Wildlife Refuge, Quinta Mazatlan and the National Butterfly Center. Estero Llano Grande is a bit farther away but still handy. Great kiskadees, clay colored robins, inca doves, and buff-bellied hummingbirds frequent the back yard.

Hi! My name is Leonardo and grew up in Brownsville, TX. I am a huge advocate for the arts, and live my daily life as a classical musician and professional choral singer. Having been living in San Juan since mid 2020, I am very glad to have explored a completely different aspect of the Rio Grande Valley. Currently I am based in Dallas, TX.

Why they chose this property

In so many aspects, this home is truly unique. There is a lot of art, pieces, and photos that were personally done or done by friends of mine scattered throughout my home. My house can very comfortably handle a large family (or a reunion), and there's not many houses that have a functioning 100 year old baby grand piano in them! My piano may be underpitched, but my home exudes a character from the moment you pull up to the drive way and I personally love that. Come stay at my house and let me know what you think! :)

What makes this property unique

It's hot in Texas, but sitting outside and listening to the pond and nature in the backyard is such a relaxing experience. Cooking in this house is honestly top tier. I love pulling the pans off the walls and seeing everything I need without needing to open any drawers!
