About Loraine Buckner
The Azalea House is Loraine's childhood home. Her family has been in the North Fork Valley since the early 1800s. She and her husband Johnny raised their four children in the valley and continue to live there today.
Why Loraine Buckner chose Black Mountain
Love grows best in little houses and this little home has held a lot of love over the decades. It is wonderful to see it not sitting empty and to know that others are now getting to enjoy its peaceful setting and charming atmosphere.
What makes this Cottage unique
Cozy, Peaceful, Comfortable, Quiet, Charming, and Homey are the most frequently used words to describe the Azalea House. Guests comment most often on enjoying listening to or even playing in the stream and gathering around the firepit at night to roast marshmallows. The scenery and tranquility of the valley are spectacular any time of the year. Our reviews consistently confirm that our home is exceptionally clean. We do all the cleaning ourselves to ensure a thorough and complete job. Any issues or concerns that arise during your stay will be personally taken care of right away as we live close by.

Mountain Get Away
We enjoyed a relaxing weekend at the Azalea House. The setting is lovely with plenty to do within an easy drive.
Got it all!
If you are looking for easy booking and a tranquil get away with mountain views and sounds of a running creek then you found it. This place is close to everything that Black Mountain has to offer. It is cute, clean, and well equipped for your needs. The owners are very nice and accommodating. It is a feeling of being
at grandmas. You really do feel welcome from that first moment you walk through the door.
We definitely will be booking here again in the future.
The setting of this property is just incredibly beautiful. The house is so comfy, cute and nostalgic. It is quiet in this location and the view from the deck of the mountains is just breathtaking. My sister, niece and myself enjoyed ourselves so much and do not see a need to ever stay in Asheville again. There are cute little restaurants in Black Mountain, as well as shops. We were thoroughly charmed by this little mountain town. We look forward to visiting Azalea House again.
This place was a so wonderful. It brought back memories of being at my grandmother’s house! We loved every minute, and our dog loved the back yard!!! It was great!
