The property is truly unique and our host, Gil, worked very hard to make us comfortable and knowledgeable about the area. Robes were supplied for everyone, he left a gift basket, and we loved the view as well as the outdoor fire pit under the stars.
VRBO should not allow this property to be advertised as it is does not come close to meeting basic standards for stays. Especially at that expensive rate per night. The house smells like urine and dogs and has stains on the carpet. Upon arrival the host takes you to the kitchen where he has a pot of potpourri boiling on the stove (and many scented candles burning) and opens every drawer as stall tactic. Once your nostrils are overwhelmed, he walks you into the other rooms which clearly show very stained carpet. We decided not to stay (after much consideration and after host left) and immediately contacted the host. He became extremely irritated and hung up the phone call. This host is deceitful and not pleasant to work with, not to mention the 4,194 that will never be reimbursed! Beware!

This is a multiple $1,000,000 facility with 4000 plus feet of livable space. There is an unobstructed view of some 50 miles over wine country. Guests receive a complementary guest basket of wine cheeses crackers, meats, nuts and snacks for pet friends, etcetera. The facility has garnered numerous 5 star ratings from Airbnb and VRBO.
Mrs. Sutherland During the meet and brief session Indicated one of the guests had dropped out from the original guest list. The briefing went without comment and the host left leaving the guests to enjoy the property. Mrs. Sutherland then manufactured a bogus complaint about cleanliness of the property seeking a last-minute return for her deposit. The cancellation policy was clearly stated in the VRBO agreement. Upon finding out that she compromised her deposit she created a negative statement trying to create vindictive business damage.
Mrs. Sutherland was non communitive for two weeks prior to arrival. I adamantly cannot recommend her as a guest due to lack of communication, lies, and falsehoods.
This is an extremely nice property. I have been in and around the Paso Robles area many times and I am not sure I’ve ever seen a property with a view like this house has. The deck is a perfect place to spend an entire day and the breeze and temperatures make it perfect. The inside of the house is very entertainment friendly and is well stocked with pretty much anything you need. The property owner was overly hospitable offering to even go grocery shopping for us prior to arrival. If you enjoy seclusion and peacefulness while still being a short beautiful drive from all the action of Paso, this is your place.
Nestled in the heart of wine country, this mountain top retreat is a haven of luxury and tranquility. The panoramic views of the surrounding valley offer 180 degrees of breathtaking sunrises (unfortunately we were not there for sunsets - so cannot comment).
The retreat itself is a blend of comfort and elegance. The rooms are spacious and tastefully decorated, ensuring a restful sleep. Modern amenities add to the overall experience, making your stay as comfortable as possible. And the top floor kitchen, bar and fireplaces (one inside and one on the deck) make the experience one you don't want to leave.
In conclusion, this mountain top retreat is not just a rental, it's an experience. Whether you're a wine lover or just seeking a peaceful getaway, this retreat is the perfect choice for an unforgettable stay.
Host was incredibly rude. Very inflexible with check in time, you check in when it’s convenient for the host, he gave me 2 options for times neither of which worked for our group, that’s when he became rude and aggressive. Also he requires a 30-45 min briefing on the property so you can’t make any plans around check in time. Shady, unprofessional, disrespectful communication from the host. Also the property is very far from anything you would want to do in the surrounding area. Not worth it at all in my opinion. Much better options for the area. Overall one of the worst experiences from a rental

The property is a two and a half million dollar estate in a gated community 4000 square feet, 50 mile view, with complex amenities. At the time of booking guests are told there is a meet and brief requirement due to damage being done in the past and complexties. This briefing usually takes 30 to 45 minutes and it's never been a problem in the past.
The guests agreed to this with the request for an early arrival accommodation which was allowed.
Two days prior to arrival Guest advises the host that they may be arriving late due to a 6 1/2 hour drive from Las Vegas and they had made reservations at a health spa at the time of check in.
Host and guests agree to a check in and with briefing from 1:30 to 4:00 by either the guests or their parties. After that agreement guest indicated that they wanted to do a self check in without a briefing.
I received a text message at 9:58 on April 18th ( The 19th was Easter Sunday) canceling their booking with the statement "OK, it's not going to work. I would like to cancel"
When the guest became aware of the house rules regarding cancellation policy they became belligerent and then the embellishment, distortion and lies started to take place in an attempt to recover the deposit.
Security cameras, ring cameras and the owner’s presence on the property indicate that this was a fabrication of the facts. NO SHOW!

I am an old guy who found himself wanting to escape from Southern California. My dream was of a little land, peaceful and secure, with a view, located close to the ocean in a temperate climate and away from the hustle bustle of urban life. One of my hobbies was that of a “weekend wood butcher.”
What you see is the culmination of that vision and work that I created as owner-builder.
