Unplug and Escape every day life at The Mill House. Built in 1875 this Classic Farm House has 3 bedrooms and 2 bedrooms on over an acre of land. You enter through the Sun porch, where you can spend your day in the hammock or seating area reading, relaxing and/or listening to music. The Kitchen is just off the sun porch, a fully stocked kitchen with a bar counter that leads you into the dining room that comfortably seats 6. The Primary Bedroom is on the main floor with a Queen Bed and has it's only private bath with Sauna just down the spiral stairs. The living room has a large sectional enough to fit everyone, a tv, DVD player to have movie nights. There is a main floor full bath and laundry room. The upstairs has a nook, that could be used as a additional sleeping area and two bedrooms. The second bedroom has two double beds and a portable bed I the closet. The third bedroom has a twin. 

The property itself feels like you're a million miles away. The upper patio off the kitchen has a gas grill. The lower patio has a seating area. Just a couple steps is the fire pit to tell stories, roast marshmallows and ,make memories. 

You are less than a 10 minute drive, to downtown Sawyer. A 15 minute drive to Warren Dunes State Park where you can hike the dunes and enjoy the beaches of Lake Michigan. You are in the heart of Harbor Country filled with Wineries, Breweries, Farms and Orchards.

Country get away
Rooms were a bit awkward, 2nd bathroom not ideal down the spiral staircase. Maybe adding a railing so no one needs to lift the trap door. Beautiful property nestled in the country.

Secluded Home
My best friend and I do an annual Mom trip with our two children to the dunes. We thought this house looked spacious and what we needed for our stay. Needless to say we felt uneasy about how secluded the property was from town and that there was an unmentioned above the garage apartment on the property that appeared empty until the morning of our checkout when the garage door was ajar. I had to be the one to reach out to the property manager to get the code for the door lock, which felt universal instead of individualized making our feelings of unease about safety greater. There was also no mention that the screened in porch does not lock, it’s just a screen door, you have to enter from the screened in porch to get to the house door to use the key pad. Knowing anyone could just be out there on the porch wasn’t great for safety. The downstairs bathroom as advertised isn’t easy to get to (via a trap door in the main floor bedroom) anyone with younger kids and older adults would struggle with this bathroom option. This house has a lot of charm and if you’re looking for a unique, secluded experience this is your place - just didn’t feel great for two moms with young children.

ABOUT THE OWNER

Monica started North Star Properties with one goal. To better serve the Northwest Indiana and Southwest Michigan Area with a concierge service mentality for short term rentals. From the North suburbs of Detroit she was bred to be in the real estate industry. Both of her parents were entrepreneurs. She watched as her father built Gauthier Corporation, a very successful construction company, which is still running as strong as ever. Her mother started a cleaning company that meticulously made sure every home shined like the top of the Chrysler building. Working for both of her parents growing up, she understands the drive and passion it takes to achieve success. Prior to starting North Star Properties, she sold real estate on the Northside of Chicago before moving to the Dunes and making a permanent home.
