About this property

lturas 2: New Modern 2BR Cabin, Big Windows for Big Mountain Views

This is a beautiful, new cabin with modern touches, clean/minimal lines, and spectacular mountain views through massive windows. The cabin takes its name from one of the peaks you'll see right out your window, Alturas 2 (Our 1 BR cabin is named for the next peak to the south.... Alturas 1). Alturas 2 is a 2 BR cabin with a queen bed in the back bedroom and a twin-over-full bunk bed in the 2nd bedroom. The 2nd bedroom's bottom bunk is large enough to accommodate 2 adults. (No one over 110lbs on top bunk please. NO PETS. Alturas 1 is our pet-friendly cabin).

There's also a full RV hookup just to the north of Alturas 2. Hook up your RV for a nominal fee. Rent both cabins for a discount to accommodate larger groups!

There's more than enough elbow room on this (over) 10 acre property and the neighbors and noise are plenty far away. Use it as a base camp for your travel, biking, fishing, hunting, or skiing adventure or just get your relax on. Come just to get away and use the Wi-Fi for watching movies or working remotely. MT Hwy 278 is part of the Pioneer Scenic Byway and "Big Hole Loop" with unrivaled access to hiking, hot springs, snowmobiling, Bannack State Park (ghost town), horseback riding, the RATPOD bike race, and world-class trout fishing on the Beaverhead and Big Hole Rivers (not to mention numerous small creeks and lakes to drive or hike to).

You'll be situated a very short drive from Dillon, MT; a cute western town with roots in ag, railroading, and education. There are plenty of shops, fun restaurants, coffee shops, a brewery, and local happenings to satisfy travelers year round. Dillon is also home to to 1 of 5 Patagonia Outlets in the country as well as one of the biggest Labor Day celebrations around complete with rodeos, concerts, and a fair.

You're also just a short drive from lots of fun/historic small towns with their own unique draw and appeal. There's an area information/recommendation booklet inside the cabin for reference too.

There are 3 cabins on the property situated in a similar orientation. Just south of this cabin is a 2 BR, 5 guest cabin. At the northern property boundary, is a sleek, spacious studio cabin called the Studio at Alturas. Look for our other listing or inquire via messages if a larger space is needed.

This cabin Has:
Queen bed, Twin-over-full bunk bed, futon sofa (single), wi-fi, tv, full kitchen, pots/pans/place settings, coffee maker, shower (no bathtub), basic pantry items (tea, coffee, sugar, salt, pepper, various spices, and more), a deck with furniture and trellis cover. The deck has a partial roof over the door (and slightly beyond) for foul weather.

Alturas 2 and the Studio at Altruas are allergen friendly. Alturas 1 is our pet-friendly cabin. If you need more space, we'd gladly add a discount for renting multiple cabins.

What to do from here:

5 minutes from the Beaverhead River, 5 minutes from the gas station, under 10 minutes to the grocery store/restaurants, 16 miles to Bannack State Park (ghost town), 30 miles to the Big Hole River, 30 miles to Maverick Mountain Ski Area and Elkhorn Hot Springs, 37 miles to Crystal Park. 70 miles to Butte, MT, 2 hrs to Idaho Falls, ID, or to Salmon, ID, and an easy day trip to Ennis, MT and West Yellowstone to access Yellowstone Park.

For fishing guides, horseback rides, and equipment rentals, let us know and we can easily help put together an unforgettable outing. We'd also love to let you in on some local favorites for restaurants/ shopping/ bars, etc. Just let us know!

I am on site sometimes, working in the newest cabin or staying in the RV (behind the shed to the north of Alturas 2) when guiding fly fishing in the area. I often travel and am away for extended periods of time as well. If I'm around, I'm more than happy to chat in person or give space if need be.

Great spot
In my opinion, there’s not a lot of ideal hotel options in this area. This is about the same price & MUCH nicer than anything in town. Quaint, but has everything you need. Nice products on hand. Short drive to town (I thought it would take longer). Only thing that was tricky was getting the heat set up in each room. After the 1st night, we had it figured out. Would absolutely stay again.

Why they chose this property

Expansive views, massively starry skies, far enough away to feel space to breathe yet just a short drive to town for amenities. Our nearness to amazing activities like fishing, skiing, hot springs, ghost towns, hiking, camping, hunting, and ATV riding is a massive bonus.

What makes this property unique

Open spaces, mountain views, peace and quiet with the town not too far away. All three cabins give you unbelievable views out into the natural landscape.
