About this property

Romantic Cottage in ACE Basin rich w/ SC history

If you want to scroll through your phone and stay plugged in….The Creek House is NOT the place for you!!! If you are looking for solitude, downtime, a recharge from the grind, to watch the sun set, enjoy history and Mother Nature..then please come visit!!! The Creek House is in the heart of ACE Basin, on Bailey Creek, overlooking the South Edisto River. Build a campfire, get cozy in the cottage, view roseate spoonbills, and catch/release fish!! Property is under 24 hr surveillance. Motorized boats are not allowed.

The Creek House sits on 5 acres of high ground and surrounded by 13 acres of lush marsh and is ideal for a romantic getaway!! Bailey Creek runs through the property. Walk down a short dock and feel your stress disappear. This is a private setting w/in a neighborhood.

Full kitchen, coffee, 4 gallons of filtered water, cookware, utensils, binoculars, bug spray, kayaks, firewood, outdoor grill, floats, birdseed, and a 1981 AirDyne Schwinn stationary bicycle w/ an amazing view. An extra refrigerator is on the deck just in case you prefer to stock up. A lot of times, when you stay at The Creek House, you will close the gate behind you and not leave until your check out date.

Approx 511 sq ft on the main floor. The main bdrm is spacious w/ queen bed, organic linen sheets, a sitting area, 270 degree view, and ample storage. Double doors take you to the side deck overlooking the marsh and redfish during high tide. Wake up to morning visits from hummingbirds on your window feeders.

The loft is approx 120 sq ft. It is accessed by a floating library ladder. It is good for older children/teenagers, and adults that don’t mind limited privacy and are able to climb ladders. It sits above the kitchen and bathroom. A futon is provided.

Guest access
The Creek House is the only dwelling on the property. Guests have full access along w access to both levels of the dock.

The Creek House is fed by a 480 ft deep well. The water has a sulfur and salinity content common to all rural properties in the area and on Edisto Beach. The ACE basin is ranked worldwide as one of the Top 5 cleanest waters and is fed by 5 various aquifers. You are provided 4 gallons of filtered water. The owners use the well water to cook, make coffee, shower, and water the plants. When we want a cold glass of refreshing water we use the filtered water. Different strokes for different folks, though!!

Really enjoyed our stay
It was the most relaxing and peaceful time we have had in a long time. There are beautiful marsh views. The tidal creek and marsh are full with wildlife. We enjoyed the stars. House was equipped with everything we needed. Communications with owner were stellar. Tracie was prompt and personable. We really enjoyed our stay. Note: Plan a sunset at nearby Pine Landing.

Rested and refueled
Typically when my husband and I vacation in March we head for a beach. We saw this listing and thought why not try something a little different? And boy are we soooooo glad we did! This vacation was exactly what we needed. If you love serenity, nature, paddling through picture perfect marshes, fishing, birdwatching, reading, resting, truly relaxing and enjoying all that the beautiful outdoors of South Carolina and the ACE Basin have to offer, then this is the place for you. The home has everything you might need and nothing that you don't. It's cozy and charming with lots of thoughtful touches. The views are SPECTACULAR! And Tracie could not be nicer or more helpful...she shared wonderful information about the property and the surrounding area. If you must get to the beach, Edisto Beach is only a short 15 minutes or so away. And even though the island is more rural than other barrier islands in the area, there is plenty to explore and enjoy. We loved this property and can't wait to go back!

Amazing retreat
We're local to the area and just needed a couple of days to check out from reality! We could not have found a more perfect location or host. We literally have nothing negative to say at all. This space was quiet, clean, private, and beautiful. Truly a special place.

I was born in Texas, grew up in Colorado and moved to the Lowcountry in 2001 with my husband Paul. Paul was born in Asheville, NC and we met at Auburn University. His family introduced me to The Lowcountry in 1998. We have 2 daughters, 2 dogs, and have been searching for The Creek House for almost 20 years. We finally found our “Much Sneed’ed Vacation” in June 2020.

After I moved to Auburn and met my awesome husband, I always missed the Fall in Colorado. I was searching for a place that could give me the “Fall Vibe” similar to what it was like in Pagosa Springs, CO. When we finally moved here after 9/11 I started to watch the marsh change just like the “quakies” in the Rocky Mountains. Instead of looking up towards the San Juan mtns to see the vibrant colors change, I started looking down at the marsh and realized it was exactly the same!! Instead of fly fishing for rainbow trout I fell in love with fly fishing for redfish. We love the outdoors, birding, spending time on the dock and around the campfire. The Creek House has a very special vibe to it that guests will feel. There is an old soul to this magical piece of land. Paul and I are so excited to share it with others.
