About this property
Modern & spacious villa minutes from Kruger National Park.
Settle into our newly-renovated, modern and comfortable three bedroom unit within the confines of a secured resort and just 10 minutes from South Africa's flagship Kruger National Park (KNP). Recent renovations includes mosquito netting on all windows, brand new bathrooms and updated tiles throughout the unit.
Our free-standing, self-catering unit, in Hazyview, offers a fully equipped kitchen with spacious open plan living and dining rooms, three full bathrooms, and a large outdoor deck with braai/BBQ. Our unit is free-standing with no units on either side of us -- unlike some of the others on the property.
One en-suite bedroom has a king bed, another has two twin beds with its own bathroom while the third en-suite upstairs has two twin beds along with a bathroom. All bedrooms have air-conditioning, ceiling fans and block out curtains. Our self-catering kitchen will meet all your needs including a coffee machine, toaster, microwave, electric kettle, stove, oven and dishwasher. We also offer access to wi-fi from within our unit.
You can rest easy after cooking dinner or grilling knowing our complementary daily cleaning will wash the dishes, clean the grill and make up the beds while you are out in your morning safari.
NEW: In order to alleviate the issues around load-shedding, we have a gas stove for cooking and boiling water. We also have an inverter and battery back-up that will kick in to power the lights, fans, fridge, tv, decoder, router and most plugs. The oven, aircons, dishwasher and water heater will not be powered by the battery. In the kitchen, above the sink, there is a box with a green and red light. When both green and red lights are on means that all systems are a go and there is Eskom power. Just the red light means, stop and be careful how you use power since load-shedding is on.
Sip your favorite drink while enjoying the South African sunset over the mountains from the romantic, shaded balcony off the upstairs bedroom or enjoy the larger wooden deck while grilling in our built-in grill.
Among the resort’s many amenities are a golf course, tennis courts, a hippo hide and plenty of kids' activities. Our villa is a minute’s walk from one of the resort’s three swimming pools (not the main one so less busy) and close enough to the hippo hide to hear them grunt at night. The villa is located near three supermarkets, restaurants, pubs and shops. Only 10 minutes away, KNP’s Phabeni entrance gate is one of the few that offer guided night drives to safari enthusiasts not staying inside the game reserve.
For anyone new to self-drive safari or visiting for the first time, we offer tips and suggest detailed self-drive route inside Kruger.
The open plan living and dining rooms give the downstairs an airy feel with views of the outside and easy access to the patio via two sliding doors. A large wooden deck with built-in grill/braai is an ideal entertainment area and a lovely way to the end the day. Double covered parking is available. A nine-hole 18 Tee Gary Player designed golf course, three swimming pools, and a restaurant are also on site. All bed linens and bathroom towels are provided. The lounge offers a wide selection of DStv channels on our flat screen TV.
Guests have access to all the following amenities provided at The Kruger Park Lodge:
On-site restaurant
‘Big Five’ game drives
Bird watching
4 tennis courts
Hippo hide
Putt putt/mini-golf
Gary Player 9-hole (18 Tee) golf course and driving range
Trampolines
Volleyball court
Conference facilities for up to 40 delegates
3 swimming pools

About the host
Hosted by Heeten Kalan

We are Heeten and Jenny and we own Swagat at Kruger Park Lodge. Heeten is from South Africa and Jenny is from Sweden. Heeten is a licensed safari guide and will share his tips and suggestions with you prior to your trip. We have two kids and have enjoyed the wildlife and safaris for many years. We enjoy self-drive safaris and believe this is a wonderful way to enjoy the world famous Kruger National Park.
Why they chose this property
Owning Swagat at Kruger Park Lodge is realizing a dream we have had for many years. Both our families love wildlife and are passionate about going on safaris -- we have been on safari in Kenya, Tanzania, and -- of course -- South Africa. We are so 'wild' about Kruger National Park in particular, that we even got married at a bush camp in the park!
The Kruger Park Lodge is a development with many amenities and this remains one of the main reasons we bought a place here. The place is immaculate and well maintained.

What makes this property unique
We wanted to find a home that gave us easy access to the Kruger Park. The Phabeni Gate is 10 minutes away so we can enter the park easily and come back to relax at the lodge.
To us, being in Kruger is at once peaceful and exhilarating: it is wonderful to be disconnected from the buzz of the internet and telephones, and to just take in the unique sounds, sights, smells, the air. And nothing beats the excitement of being the ones to spot a leopard or hear a herd of 200 buffalo thundering past the car. There is truly a satisfaction and excitement in spotting animals on your own, feeling like you are really in a wildlife documentary.
