Stunning property
Our family just returned from 17 days on Cape Rosier and we are still glowing from our experience at David’s house. It’s an exceptionally special property with meticulous thought and detail poured in at every level. While we were happy exploring various hikes and swims across the Blue Hill Peninsula, we were also happy spending multiples days on the property swimming, paddle boarding, reading, napping and cooking. I’m grateful to David and family for sharing their home and property with us.

Maine Paradise
Ever since visiting this property, I have been dreaming of going back. The house itself felt homey and inviting, and the property was perfect for our family to spread out and enjoy. We didn’t even leave the house for a solid 2 days once we arrived bc we were having so much fun right there that we didn’t feel like we even needed to leave! Every day involved time at the water (which is only a short walk away from the house), lots of sea glass, and perfect views. We enjoyed using the kayaks and liked that things like water shoes and life vests were provided. Some more child size life vests are needed, but luckily we had brought some of our own. The house was clean and had all of the kitchen gadgets that we needed. The area was very quiet with little to no traffic out on the road, so it was nice for riding bikes (although it’s super hilly!). Traveling to places like Acadia was a bit of a drive, but it was doable. Thank you very much for a great stay.

Amazing week!
This house was amazing for our family. Big enough for a family of 8, private enough to keep loud children from bothering neighbors, enough activities to entertain a wide variety of interests and ages. Having the kayaks and canoe available was amazing, the beach was close and fun for everyone to explore, the hammock was perfectly placed for relaxing naps with an ocean breeze. We've recommended this house to everyone. Thank you!

Amazing view
We truly loved our stay here. The owners made us feel welcome. The house was comfortable, and we enjoyed visiting the beach. We saw porpoises on our first morning there. Thank you, David and Lensa, for your kindness and for sharing your home!

Great place for exploring the area or just staying home
Great place. We did a lot of exploring the area but also spent significant time just hanging at the house/beach/fire pit. 6 adults and plenty of space to gather but also find alone time. Lensa and David were excellent hosts. Loved this place.

The owner and his late wife hired local architect Bruce Stahnke to design this off-the-grid house. His son (a master cabinetmaker) built it in 2012 to share with family. They enjoy bird watching fishing, boating, camping and exploring the nearby islands. He grew up coming here as a little kid on weekends and vacations with siblings and later his own boys. They would clamber and play on the beach all day and fall asleep to the sound of the waves. Now they enjoy sharing this paradise with people from all over the world.

Why they chose this property

This area has a lot to offer for people who love nature, forests, and the sea. We suggest you stop for groceries in Blue Hill before you get here because it's a bit of a drive to get them and you won't want to leave! There are two excellent food markets 40 minutes away in Blue Hill and a smaller one in Brooksville called Buck's Harbor Market with a great restaurant too. This location is safe, absolutely beautiful, quiet and remote. Relaxing on the screen porch with cold drink or taking in the sunset on the beach is a great way to end the day.

What makes this property unique

and pick up some currant scones or chocolate croissants for the next day's breakfast while you're there. A low key afternoon could include strolling the sidewalks of Castine village and swimming at Wadsworth Cove Beach just outside of Castine. Back in Brooksville, you will be able to see for miles after hiking up John B. Mountain Trail http://bluehillheritagetrust.org/john-b-mountain/
…Try a more formal dinner at the Brooklin Inn..Dancing at the Flash In The Pans steel band street dance (locations change but it's always Monday nights usually at the Blue Hill Town Park). Galleries and antique shops are abundant and good. See a movie at The Alamo Theatre in Bucksport. Take in guided kayak tours from Stonington...Get home-made ginger ice cream at Morton's Moo in Ellsworth. And oh yes…of course, there's that breathtaking and famous Acadia National Park too, with fun Bar Harbor shops, cafes, Acadia Improv, great breakfast at Two Cats, mountain biking and day sails... so much to do.
