Adorable Cottage - Lake Huron Access - Within the tall Northern Michigan trees!

Lakewood Cottage is a small, family-owned cottage that resides in a quaint, private association along the shores of Lake Huron in Cheboygan County. This 1000 sq ft cottage is the perfect location to get away and relax - you will definitely feel like you are "Up North" when you stay with us!

There are 4 Lake Huron access points that are set up with things like play equipment, basketball hoops, and more. Swim from shore, though Lake Huron is a little rocky, so we recommend water shoes! Watch the sunrise or even the beautiful sky as the sun sets.

We are 5 minutes to Cheboygan State Park, 10 minutes to downtown Cheboygan, 30 minutes to Mackinaw City. We are 60-90 minutes from many winter sports (ski/snowboard/sledding) resorts. We are ideally located for snowshoeing, cross country skiing, snowmobiling, and more!

If you want to stay home and stay in, we have an entire cabinet of board games as well as a Smart TV available to sign into any of your favorite accounts! Our kitchen contains enough equipment for those who like to bake or cook at home! The nature here is incredible! You will love the sights, sounds, and smells of being "Up North" with us!

It is important to note that we are rustic and during times of snow/ice, the driveway can be a challenge. There is space for one vehicle to park sideways at the top of the driveway if needed. Keep in mind that you are responsible for your vehicle being off premises by check-out so if you happen to get stuck a tow truck might be the best option.

Because of the unpredictable snow/ice (the snow conditions can literally vary from in town Cheboygan) please be aware that we do have a single camera placed facing the driveway so that we can monitor and give incoming guests updates as able.

Great Place to stay to explore MI

Loved this cottage! We only stayed one night but this would be the perfect spot for a longer stay with group and / or kids. Amanda was very responsive the whole time.

Great Place and Wooded Location

Just like camping, except you have all the comforts of home. Clean, comfortable accomodations, easy check-in, and wonderful fire pit out back for smores and to relax. Great stay.

Lovely comfortable home near Cheboygan with plenty of room for any gathering. A short walk to Lake Huron and very private. We used it as a home base for a long weekend. Heading to Mackinac Island and the Upper Peninsula.

4th of July Vacation

Nice place. Great for the kids. Lots of games and toys available. The walking distance beaches are very rocky so be sure to have water shoes if you plan to use them, they are nice. Small place, no dishwasher but overall a great experience. We would stay again.

I LOVED my stay with Amanda. She’s really well at communicating and she is always available for questions. She was genuine and really cared for us to have a good stay. This is the PERFECT place to cook good meals, have fires, and relax. Can’t say enough great things.

Hi! I'm Amanda. I'm a Northern Michigan lifetime resident and owner of Lakewood Cottage. Born and raised, my family and I enjoy all that Northern Michigan has to offer, especially its outdoors activities and its beauty!

Why they chose this property

We purchased Lakewood Cottage in 2021. My husband and I work in healthcare and COVID put a lot of extra strain on our family & our careers. We wanted a get-a-way location to relax and just enjoy with our family. We LOVE the the cottage so much, but don't always get there much, so we wanted to offer it up for others to enjoy! It is our "project cottage," so if you stay more than once, you will likely notice wonderful updates & changes! Most recently, we gave the exterior a face lift with new roof, siding, and expanded front steps & back decks, as well as new flooring on the main level! We absolutely cannot wait to sit out back and grill out or listen to the evening sounds this summer!

What makes this property unique

Northern Michigan in and of itself is a unique benefit! We are located just 10 minutes from downtown Cheboygan, so it's easy to grab a quick restaurant meal or stop at the grocery store.

Though we are just 10 minutes away, the cottage is quiet and cozy feeling. The nights are DARK and the stars are incredible. We are 1 street over from Lake Huron and we have 4 shared access points (private to the association) where you can swim or enjoy rock hunting. Most access points have play equipment for the kiddos. The neighborhood is calm and nice for walking. In the winter months you can snowshoe or cross country ski right out the front door.

If the neighborhood, by chance, gets boring, visit Cheboygan State Park just 5 minutes north for some hiking, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, or in the summer months, enjoy the amazing sandy beach! Additionally, we are just 30 minutes south of Mackinaw City! Enjoy Mackinaw City & Mackinac Island without the hassle of staying in an overcrowded Mackinaw City hotel!
