I've stayed in several places within timberline and would easily stay at this property here again. The house was just as it was listed, clean, and had what we needed for a week's stay in the Fall. Don't miss a visit to Dolly Sods!

Thank you for your stay. We hope you will return soon to Canaan Valley!
Great house and facilities, but there was mouse poop in a couple of places that was gross. Otherwise it was a great visit walking distance from Spruce Lake etc.
We stayed here for a long weekend in January and had a wonderful time. The house was immaculately clean and so cozy and comfortable. We especially loved the modern kitchen and open layout. The house is near to skiing at Timberline but also lots of great hiking. The house is also in a neighborhood with private access to a gorgeous ridgeline trail in Dolly Sods (just a 5 min. drive up the mountain to a small parking area). We will absolutely stay here again!

The property is perfect for a stay to ski in the area. The mattresses were nothing fancy yet they were by far the best of all ski rentals my husband and I have stayed in, so we slept soundly and didn’t ache too much after a day of cold skiing and are very appreciative of that. There was plenty of room for us, and another couple with their young child. We have rented from this realty group before and every time they are extremely responsive and helpful with any questions.

This cabin was great! With all the trees it felt truly private, unlike cabins we've stayed at in other states. As someone who always cooks on vacation, the kitchen is always important to me. This one was well equipped with everything you need from cookie sheets to pots to measuring cups (even a garlic press!). Cabin is clean, well-thought out and cozy. Access to the Timberline ponds for fishing was a nice a bonus. We saw deer from our porch almost daily. The access to Dolly Sods is spectacular, the Valley View trail has access points to the Rocky Ridge trail. When we initially looked at hikes online it was hard to figure out where we could get from the property, but once we accepted the adventure of building our own loops using the basic trail map it was magical. We did two different 8 mile loops, connecting Breathed Mountain to Red Creek before coming back to the Timberline access on the first trip. Later we went Rocky Ridge to Raven Ridge to Beaver View and back via Dobbins. Spectacular and varied ecosystems.

We loved everything about our stay at Safe Haven. We traveled from different areas and had space for all of our vehicles. There was plenty of room for eating and preparing meals together and the table made for a great spot to play cards and games all evening. We all woke up well rested from the comfortable beds and appreciated the clean bathrooms for showering. Close to ski areas and local restaurants and shopping made it especially convienient. The property management company is extremely accommodating and flexible. We had a great experience. Thank you!!

This was our second stay here, and we had a great time. The location can't be beat (close to Timberline; access to Dolly Sods), and the house is extremely clean and cozy. Note that in the living room, there's only seating for 4 people, so if you have more, you'll need to pull up dining room chairs or sit on the floor. The only disappointment was that the Internet didn't work while we were there (and none of us had enough cell service to use cellular data). The realty company did say that the Internet provider had been there right before we arrived, and the issue was supposed to have been fixed. Even so, we'd definitely stay here again!

Comfortable house, great location, great use of psace
It can be hit or miss with rentals in Old Timberline but this was a hit. It's a small three room rental but the space is used really well. Two smaller bedrooms and a full bath are on the ground floor and a master suite takes up the entire second floor (with full bath). The renovated kitchen opens directly onto a dining and living room area so the place feels bright and open despite its small size. The heating was great, everything was clean, and Canaan Realty is very responsive. Would definitely stay again. (Also great location with direct access to Dolly Sods about a 5 minute drive up the mountain. Huge +++)
The cabin, while dated and in need of some repairs was clean. We rented in mid June. The beginning of the stay the weather was pleasant. However, a heat wave came at the end of our stay. We learned that the unit was NOT air conditioned. My bad for verifying. However, I would recommend the property manager advise anyone renting in the summer that the unit is not air conditioned. The dishwasher was difficult to get started. The washer has a broken knob - should be fixed since we have to wash our own towels.
Wonderful Memorial Day weekend stay at this property. The property was exceptionally clean (consistent with other, past VRBO reviews) and the interior’s layout was open and updated. The location is easily accessible and in an established community, but also felt very private as it’s located in a wooded setting. The internet was very limited, but I don’t believe that is limited to this specific property. The property manager/owner were very responsive to our initial call regarding the location of the router in the house, as apparently the cleaning staff had unplugged the router during a prior cleaning, and it was located in the upstairs bedroom under a side table (so not initially visible to me). However, after they shared the location, I was able to quickly plug it in, and internet was restored. Would definitely stay at this property again.

My husband and I had a great time visiting this house and the gorgeous Canaan Valley! We have been traveling here every winter for several years, and we always love it. This house was clean and had most of what we needed. It is also very cozy and private, set back in the heavily forested neighborhood. Access to the Dolly Sods Wilderness is a huge perk, and we loved snowshoeing there. The house is also a five minute drive to Timberline Mountain for skiing! We had some issues with the Wi-Fi, which never worked the entire time we were there. There was also no phone service, and communication with the rental manager was not possible while at the house. Our visit coincided with a period of heavy snow, which may have impacted the inability to fix this in a timely manner, but it was still a bit disappointing as we were there for 4 days. Overall, great house, though! Just be aware there could be issues with service/Wi-Fi. Thank you!
