About this property

Escape to Serenity: Lookout Tower with Hot Tub, near Schweitzer and Pet-Friendly

Escape to a breathtaking mountain retreat for remote getaways or romantic nights in! This stunning lookout tower, inspired by National Park architecture, sits atop a granite cliff over 60 feet high, offering unparalleled views of the Cabinet Mountains, Sandpoint, and Lake Pend Oreille. Tucked away off the main cutoff to Schweitzer Mountain, this awe-inspiring structure is a must-see for anyone seeking a one-of-a-kind experience.

The Space:

This cozy space provides remote relaxation while still providing all the amenities your heart may desire. The Lookout Tower is 2 stories so guests must be able to use a spiral staircase or exterior wood stairs. The Main living and dining area is located upstairs while the bedroom, bathroom and laundry facilities are located downstairs. The walkthrough below is as if you’re entering through the front door and exiting through the second floor sliding glass door.

Downstairs Level 1

Entry: Upon entering, you will find a sitting area, spiral staircase leading to the second floor, bathroom, and bedroom door.

Bathroom: Full bathroom with glass door walk in shower, single sink vanity and toilet. All bathroom amenities and towels are provided during your stay. In the colder months, the bathroom Is heated with a wall heater controlled by a thermostat.

Bedroom: The bedroom offers a queen-size bed, comfy bedding, Smart TV, side tables with lights, closet, and laundry facilities. In the colder months, the room Is heated with a portable heater.

Laundry Facilities: The laundry facilities are located in 1 of the 2 bedroom closets. There is a stackable washing machine and dryer, shoe rack, extra linens, 2 robes, iron, and vacuum. Laundry detergent and dryer balls are provided.

Spiral Staircase: Due to the intimate size of the Lookout Tower, the spiral staircase is steep so please take your time when going upstairs or downstairs. The upper level can also be accessed from the exterior wood stairs.

Hot Tub: Soak up the views in the 3-person hot tub located on the first-floor deck.
Upstairs Level 2

Living Area: The living area has a large couch, coffee table, board games, puzzles, Smart TV, Bluetooth speaker, wood-burning stove (wood and starters included) and wall heater.

Kitchen: T full-size kitchen is complete with a mid-size fridge, oven with range, farmhouse sink, microwave, and coffee maker. Also included are dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen amenities.

Deck: Walk out the sliding glass doors and enjoy the views and fire up the wood pellet grill.

Outdoors:

Firepit: Wood is provide for the firepit along with Adirondack chains to ensure an enjoyable experience!

Additional Information:

Did we mention adventure? Due to the steep driveway, you will need a 4x4 or AWD in order to reach the lookout tower. You may park at the lower driveway and hike up to the home (2 minute walk) if it looks too daunting - This may also be required in the winter months depending on the snow conditions. We promise it is all worth it once you take in the views! Especially sitting in the two-person hot tub that overlooks the valley.

The city of Sandpoint is known for trains, so you'll hear the train whistle from the valley below. You'll be surprised how quickly you become accustomed to the sound but if you're not used to it you can use the "white noise" player or earplugs in the bedroom to muffle the train whistles at night.

Unfortunately, this property was not designed for children. There is a tight spiral staircase inside the home and not a lot of room to play. We do allow pets. However, there will be an additional $75 pet fee and pets must be under the owner’s control at all times, due to other animals in the area. Due to the steep cliffs surrounding the home, bringing pets will be at the owner’s risk.

Such a gem!
This properly is truly such a gem! I love staying in unique places, but it is rare to find somewhere that merges unique characteristics with high quality design, finishes and appliances - but this place is just that! It is close to Schweitzer, Sandpoint and anywhere you want to go if you want to get out and explore, but also incredibly cozy if you want to relax and stay in to soak up the stunning views. The hot tub was the cherry on top. Thank you for a wonderful getaway!

Cozy cabin
Everything as advertised at the Lookout Tower. It was a very comfortable and cozy little cabin. The hot tub is perfect for two adults — I wouldn’t go for three or it would be a snug fit. We thought the bed was extremely comfortable. Water pressure was a little low but it gets the job done for showers! Everything was very clean and the WiFi was good for us. Nice mini appliances too and gas range. Definitely a nicer cabin kitchen! The wood stove/fireplace was a nice touch we used too.

Tower stay
We had a great stay at the tower! My only complaint is the cleaning fee is very steep. VRBO was invented to be cheaper than a hotel stay and with that expensive of a fee, it was much more. The fee seems exorbitant considering the expectations of the guests to handle laundering towels, running the dishwasher, taking our garbage. Not sure what else there is for the host to do to justify a fee equal to the price you could stay at a hotel for the same amount of time.
