Located just minutes from popular Chimney Rock State Park and Lake Lure, this treehouse of a home was originally built in 1925 by notorious local bootlegger, Red Anderson. The original, unique features of the home remain, but you can rest easy with modern amenities and comforts, gas-burning fireplaces on both levels, air conditioning for warm summer days, smart TVs in common areas and the primary bedroom, and reliable high-speed internet. Ground-wired high-speed internet access (not inconsistent satellite, as is often the norm in this area) means you can reliably work and stream TV or movies throughout your visit. This inviting home has vintage character true to its era, original windows, and a clawfoot bathtub. There are three different outdoor areas to relax and listen to the rushing water of the river below, including a covered balcony off the upstairs common area where you can sit back and daydream. The covered porch off the kitchen provides wooded privacy for outdoor meals and cool mountain breezes through the gorge. You could spend the evening with family and friends roasting marshmallows over the fire pit at the riverside sitting area at the bottom of the driveway or enjoy some friendly competition with a variety of games to play in the upstairs card room. Moonshine Hideaway is located in a quiet mountain neighborhood. This home is under a noise ordinance between 9:00 p.m. and 8 a.m. and has a very low noise tolerance. Please be mindful that noise travels far in the mountains.
• Travel Insurance Recommended
During the winter months, we ask you to please consider CSA Travel Insurance to protect your vacation investment from potential winter weather events that could prevent access to the home.
