About this property

Lakeside cabin on the Central Oregon Coast

Escape to the beautiful Oregon coast, enjoying the calm waters of Collard Lake. Charming lakeside cabin has 2 decks from which to lounge and take in the magnificent lake view. Enjoy the dock and paddle the kayaks or canoe on this spring-fed lake. Watercraft, paddles and life jackets are provided. The comfortable cabin, located in a quiet area of large fir trees, includes a full well-equipped kitchen, large screen TV with Roku, and wireless internet service. Enjoy music from Pandora or Spotify on the bluetooth/CD compact shelf system. The bedroom includes a comfortable queen bed. There is a double futon sofa bed in the TV room and a double sofa bed in the living room.

Heron's Hideaway comfortably sleeps 4, but could sleep 6 with the use of futon bed, sofa bed and the queen bed. Washer and dryer available. On cooler days, enjoy the pellet stove in the living room as you enjoy the lake view or curl up with a good book. Or watch a movie on Roku on the big screen in the TV room. Each level has a bathroom with a shower in one and tub/shower in the other.

The beautiful Oregon coast is a short 6 mile drive from Heron's Hideaway. Enjoy dining and shopping in the quaint town of Florence which is about 8 miles away. Heron's Hideaway is located in a nice, quiet neighborhood, good for strolling and taking in the local scenery. Dog owners note that property is not fenced, but surrounded by woods.

Parking notes: Steep driveway. There are 2 carports. The upper carport is appropriate for any size vehicles, but the carport closer to house is lower and may not accommodate larger cars. There is also an uncovered parking space in front of house and OK to park in gravel area at the top of driveway.

Older children are welcome, but this property may not be suitable for children under the age of 12.

This was our second stay at Heron’s Hideway. The location is wonderful on a peaceful, beautiful lake and yet close to Florence a charming town with good shopping and many great restaurants. The hosts are very accommodating and ensure your stay is perfect. The provided kayaks allow you to get out onto the lake.We hope to return and highly recommend!

Comfortable cabin for a family getaway

Our family of three (+ a dog) stayed at this cabin for Thanksgiving and enjoyed the space. All of the necessary kitchen and bathroom supplies were available, as well as extra dog supplies, which was appreciated. The location made it easy to drive into town or to the beach.

Has it all!

We loved our stay at the cabin. The property itself was beautiful, but it was also convenient to visit nearby dunes, the coastline, and parks. Even though the weather did not cooperate during our visit, we would choose this wonderful place again in heartbeat.

Beautiful Lake House Views

Lovely Setting

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cabin with its idyllic setting and close proximity to all the fun the Florence area offers. The cabin was clean, cozy, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The lake is lovely with flowering water lilies and sand dune views, and using the kayaks, rowboat & canoe is a must!

Cabin just as pictured. Hosts absolutely the best. You are made to feel at home and welcomed. Great place to relax and enjoy the lake view. Wonderful for kayaking with the provided kayaks. A canoe provided also. Bed was comfortable and cabin clean and well stocked. Very close to shopping, restaurants and beaches. Highly recommend. We are anxious to return.

Beautiful setting

Stayed 4 nights and enjoyed our visit. Everything imaginable was provided. A fairly long flight of stairs leads to the water with boats available for use. A really quiet area with just the usual suberbia noises (Dogs, building projects, etc.). Overall a nice relaxing place while sitting on the deck overlooking the lake. It's about a 15 minute drive to Old Town Florence so it's easy to access the great restaurants and shops. Would recommend as a great vacation spot.

We had a wonderful time. Looks exactly like the pictures. I appreciate how clean it was too. The bed is oh so comfortable. First nite we slept like a dream. And the TV and surround sound was dynamite. We can't wait to come again.

perfectly cozy

Mom and I stayed here while visiting relatives in Florence. The place is spotlessly clean and has everything you could want or need in the exact spot you'd look for it. The beds are comfy, the lake is so relaxing to gaze upon, and all of the instructions are clear and very helpful to work all of the systems in the house. We loved being here and we can tell the owner must love this place, too. Would definitely recommend, good value for the money.

Cabin on Collard Lake

Serene setting is exactly what the Dr recommended! We spent the entire weekend to ourselves and enjoyed it immensely! Liked knowing that you had cell reception, but used that Power "off" button! The birds tapping the window were a new "wake up" call in the mornings! Will be back!

Lake Livin’ Dream!

We absolutely loved this place! It’s on older build but has been meticulously maintained and loved that it just feels like home. The owner’s obviously want their guest to feel at home. When we walked in there were flowers on the kitchen counter! Then the windows with the lake view just draw you in and you feel relaxed after your long day on the road. There are two living areas. One you can enjoy on the main level with the comfort of the pellet stove on those chilly mornings while watching the wildlife appear on the deck-squirrels, chipmunks and birds! The host even provided food for them! The other living area is downstairs off the bedroom. Bed was comfy, bathrooms were clean and well stocked. Kitchen had condiments and spices which was great since we only ate out for lunch. We are on a 3 week tour of the PNW and this is our favorite lodging so far! I give it 10 stars!!!

Sweet Solitude by the Lake

My partner and I stayed here after flying to Portland for Christmas and driving down the coast, and it was the PERFECT getaway from the busy city we live in and a beautiful end to the year. The dock that you can walk down to is stunning during sunset. The cabin itself has an expansive porch to sit and read on both levels, watch hummingbirds come and go to the feeder on the top porch, or listen to the rain. Joan stocked it with everything we needed - including towels, extra pillows/blankets, and warm slippers near the door. As my partner and I love to cook, we were also overjoyed to find a well-stocked kitchen in a VRBO rental, as that can be a rarity. The bed downstairs is like a cloud, also. The cabin is tucked away, but central Florence is a 15 min drive away where there's a Safeway and tons of restaurants if that's your thing. We're already dreaming of coming back here. Cheers~

Our Heavenly Home Away From Home...

We are fortunate to live in Florence, OR, just a quick drive from this lovely, rustic cabin. I've stayed here twice now with family (the 2nd time with one of my dogs) and there is an immediate sense of comfort when you walk in, as if you've returned home. Even my dog sensed this reassuring atmosphere - I've not seen her so relaxed in a long time, it was like she had always live there. The cabin is lake-front with a long staircase down to the private dock with kayaks and other types of boats - lovely for lounging on with a glass of wine as well if you take down a couple of light camp chairs provided by the hosts. You can also feed the critters with critter food Joan, the host, provides - the chipmunks are the tamest I've ever seen in my life and even tapped on the window once to let me know it was their 'feeding time'. Joan, the host, is a responsive communicator if the occasional question comes up. If you appreciate a true rustic cabin experience that is comfortable, clean, and thoughtfully stocked with necessary amenities in a peaceful, serene environment with beautiful views of Collard Lake, this cabin won't disappoint!

John and I have lived in the Florence area for the past 20 years. We love the outdoors and now that we're retired we have been enjoying the many trails and lakes in this area.

Why they chose this property

We live close by Collard Lake, but have not had access to this lake until we purchased this cabin from our friends about 2 years ago. Since there is no public dock, the only watercraft we see on the lake are canoes and kayaks and rowboats that the neighbors are paddling. It's very quiet and peaceful. So, when our cabin is not rented, we often spend time there, paddling on the beautiful waters. We also love hiking and the neighborhood is great for walking.

What makes this property unique

It's very private, surrounded by trees, with a great view of the lake. It's rustic, but well built and comfortable and clean with all the amenities for an enjoyable stay.
