Beautiful view in the morning looking over the river. Beautiful room set up. Walking distance to coffees shops, bakery, stores, a walking path. The perfect evening set up in rocking chairs to enjoy drinks, conversation and the beauty of down town. Will definitely stay again.

My wife and I stayed in Suite A during my class reunion, which coincided with the annual Sweet Corn Days festival. The Mill has a perfect location, close to all the main landmarks in town and within easy walking distance. As others have mentioned, the staircase could be trick for some but we were careful and had no trouble. The studio was spotless, well-laid out, and had all the necessities. The host was kind, attentive, and very helpful. Would we stay there again? No brainer -- YES!

what a fantastic hide away with spectacular views. spot on decorating style- warm, cozy, and clean. very romantic. quaint downtown is a few blocks of well preserved and full of stores, coffee, and a few restaurants. it is a sleepy town, all of the lights were out by 9p. the room has microwave and mini fridge so plan accordingly for meals. also- the space is upstairs so navigating the small staircase may be tricky for some.

Quiet and relaxing

Charming, vintage homes and shops, a delightful view of the river, and so relaxing to listen to it through the night. The apartment is decorated beautifully. We enjoyed our cater as a spot to rest in between our little day trips around Northeast Iowa.Communication with the host was easy and clear. Locals were so kind.

April in Elkader

Relaxing stay on the Turkey River. Great Algerian food and drinks at Shera’s, lively bands at Deb’s Brewtopia, and vigorous hiking around the wetlands and hills. Accommodations were private and quiet. We’ll be back.

Spent Halloween weekend in Elkader. Great accommodations and view of the Turkey River. Quiet and private. Hiked Effigy Mounds State Park, at Shera’s Algerian Restaurant, and visited the mall downtown. The latter two 2 minutes from our stay.

What a beautiful place and view! Downtown was super cute and active. Lots of awesome trout fishing streams within 20-30 min drive. Room was very clean and nicely renovated. Loved all the windows and water view. Highly recommend it!

Old Crow Opening

Room was awesome. Every thing I needed was in the room. All I had to do was show up. I loved falling asleep to the sound of the Turkey River. Joe and Nancy are the perfect hosts. They made me and the guests in the other rooms feel like old friends and family. I will definitely use again and recommend whole heartedly.

Excellent time at The Mill

Great Location in a Great Town

We stayed four nights with a 6 year old and 4 year old. Great location with excellent views of the river, falls and stone bridge. Algerian restaurant and Irish Pub nearby are both above average. A bakery and two other nearby breakfast spots as well. Nice walks throughout town and many places for day trips. Great place to stay in a great town.

Good beer & fly fishing

This place is fantastic. It’s less then a minute walk from Debs Brewtopia & the pizza place is right across the street; no need to take any transportation. You will sleep well too. With the windows open it is like a natural sleep sound machine. All you can hear is the tranquil sound of the Turkey River just below. Fly fishing streams are in close driving distance(about 30 mins). Also caves to check out in the same area. Would stay here again for sure!

A fantastic hidden gem of a town
