The Cappelli House is a renovated and updated vintage home appointed with original mid-century modern furniture and decor. Refinished fir floors, porcelain and stone tile, remodeled bathrooms and redwood deck with hot tub and BBQ. Located 2 blocks off Main Street, this three bedroom two bath home is ideally situated to enjoy all that Murphys has to offer: walk to restaurants, wine tasting, shopping and live music. This little town has been called the 'Carmel of the Foothills' and was named 'One of the top 10 Coolest Small Towns in America' by Frommers. Once the stomping-grounds of the likes of Mark Twain and Brett Harte, today Murphys is a well preserved and welcoming gold rush town with a laid-back atmosphere and modern amenities.

Surrounding areas offer something for everyone. Winter sports fans will enjoy the world-class downhill and cross country skiing at Bear Valley, about an hour drive east on Highway 4 from Murphys. There are several outstanding public golf courses within easy driving distance that will challenge and delight golfing enthusiasts of all skill levels. The Stanislaus National Forest offers year-round recreation opportunities including hiking, backpacking, mountain biking, horseback riding, camping, picnicking, rock climbing, low speed boating, whitewater rafting and kayaking, stream and lake fishing, skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling and more, on over 250,000 acres of spectacular alpine terrain.

Calaveras Big Trees State Park features two magnificent groves of giant sequoia, as well as over six thousand acres of pine forest, campgrounds, picnic areas, and miles of hiking and mountain biking trails. Calaveras County is also blessed with some spectacular caves and caverns, all of which are open to the public and offer a variety of tour options, including Mercer Caverns, Moaning Cavern and California Cavern.

Nearby Lake New Melones provides boating, water and jet skiing opportunities. The more adventurous can try whitewater rafting on the Class IV North Fork Stanislaus River, or flatwater kayaking or canoeing on one of the many beautiful alpine lakes in the Stanislaus National Forest.
For you cyclists, there's no better way to enjoy a day in Murphys than on a bike.

The property is a block from downtown which is what we wanted. You can see all the stars at night relaxing on the backyard porch, House was clean and relaxing. Will like to go back to this home again.

Great house and location.

As others have said, the Cappelli house is quiet, clean, comfortable, and close to everything in Murphys. The beds are very comfortable. We hope to stay there again.

My cousin and I got this great house decorated in mid century and with a hot tub ! We could walk right to the wineries . We had a wonderful time !

Love the house but...

Beautiful location, roomy, backyard is lovely. however we did have a few issues that concerned us: Due to these maintenance issues we'd this house a 3.5 rating. 1. On the stove: the electric stove burner grates are badly unlevel so one couldn't use it. 2. In the small bathroom: The shower spiget's threads are stripped. Also a light over the sink is out. 3. One of the table chairs on the back deck has a broken seat. The metal edges are broken and rusted and could cause serious damage to clothing or persons.

Amazing Birthday Getaway at a Charming VRBO in Murphys, CA!

I recently had the pleasure of staying at a wonderful home in Murphys, CA for my girlfriend's birthday weekend, and I must say, it was an absolutely delightful experience from start to finish! First and foremost, the location of the place was superb. Nestled in the heart of Murphys, we were just steps away from fantastic shops and mouthwatering dining options. Exploring the charming streets and browsing through the unique boutiques added an extra touch of excitement to our getaway. One of our favorite highlights was stumbling upon an incredible coffee shop conveniently situated on the corner. It proved to be the perfect spot to start our mornings, with flavorful brews and a cozy atmosphere. It truly set the tone for a relaxing and enjoyable day ahead. The house itself exceeded our expectations. It was immaculately maintained and tastefully decorated, creating a warm and inviting ambiance. The attention to detail was evident in every aspect, from the comfortable furnishings to the well-equipped kitchen. It felt like a home away from home, providing us with all the comforts we needed for a memorable stay. The host of the VRBO Home was exceptional. They were prompt in their communication, ensuring that all our needs were met and offering helpful local recommendations. Their thoughtfulness truly enhanced our experience and made us feel welcomed.

The house is a mix of old and midcentury modern which makes it interesting, It is clean and comfortable and the hot tub is a lovely addition. Main street is within walking distance so no need for your car.

Closer to town than we thought

Home is very nice. 2 older couples. One end of home has bedroom and full bath. Other end of home has bedroom and bath with shower. Back porch very nice. We brought cushions for the chairs. We played badminton. Watched the squirrels and their antics. Very fun weekend. Great food, wine and fun with our wonderful friends.

Girls’ Trip

This house was the perfect spot for four friends from high school to enjoy a few days reconnecting, wine tasting, and enjoying great food. It was walking distance to everything we needed and offered a cool place to take a break from the heat. This is actually my second stay at the property, and I will definitely stay again next time I’m in Murphys.

Ladies Family Reunion

We met up in Murphy’s to celebrate family. The location is right in town, so very convenient. It’s also about 20 minutes away from white Pines lake & we had a wonderful time there. It was an extremely hot few days so we were thrilled with the excellent air conditioning! Kitchen well stocked with cooking supplies & we made all our meals at home. A great spot to return to.oh and very comfy beds!

Marco and I love the history of the Gold Country, enjoy the great wines being produced here and the closeness of a small town community. The surrounding mountains invite hiking, skiing and exploring!
