About the host
Hosted by Jessica Orth
Hi! We are Simon & Jessica, your hosts at Coyote Cabin. We are a couple for well over 2 decades now and we love to travel and see this beautiful earth.
As a guest we are low key and considerate. Wherever we stay we like to pretend we actually live in the places we visit and often stay a while. We will cook meals at the houses we stay, we'll watch TV, do a little work (we both work from a laptop only) but we'll also see the local sights.
If I had to describe our hosting style I would say we pretty much expect our guests to be the kind of guests we are. So feel free to cook in our place, kick back and relax and enjoy yourself. But, of course, treat it kindly along the way :)

Why they chose this property
My husband started his search in 2014 for the perfect property in Park County. That year during a trip to Breckenridge he decided to travel up the road a bit & discovered South Park County and the towns of Alma & Fairplay.
Little did he know where the years of keeping an eye on Park County would lead us.
Fairplay is this tiny gem of a town in an area that still feels wild yet has everything you need to truly be able to enjoy that wild.
Something to know about my husband is that he has always had a fascination with alternative building practices, green energy, using reclaimed, repurposed, and green materials. Think earthships, straw bale building, rammed earth homes, earth bag building, passive solar, tiny homes, etc.
In early 2021 he saw land prices start to move up and long story short we took a trip to the area with the intent to buy a patch of land to build our dreams on.
We soon discovered that building in the mountains is a huge undertaking and changed our focus to finding something in the area that could fit our budget even if it wasn't the home of our dreams.
Spoiler alert, we found the home of our dreams anyway.
In June / July of 2022 we stumbled on Coyote Cabin. I fell in love with it and kept coming back to look at it over and over. Fast forward and skip over lots of sweating over tons of details we won't get into here; everything came together and we became the proud new owners of this beautiful gem amidst some of the earth's most spectacular beauty.
Was I afraid of the challenge? Not even!
We budgeted 3 weeks to measure the space and choose all the perfect furniture and decor, arrange for necessary services, etc so it would be perfect. But if you've ever furnished a home to make it as beautiful in it's furnishings and comforts and also host regular guests, you know we still had quite a way to go. 3 weeks turned to 6 and we are still striving (and always will be) to get there.
We hope you love it as much as we do :)

What makes this property unique
Every room has stellar, amazing, jaw dropping views! Seriously, no picture can truly communicate the feeling of peace and tranquility as you drink your coffee and take in the natural beauty that surrounds this amazing home. You will just want to sit staring out the windows ... often.
Combine those views with the beautiful rugged craftsmanship of this home, the painstaking thought that went into it's eco friendly design, the quality of the materials used in the structure, the massive masonry wood burning stove, the sweeping landscape of the property ... we truly feel blessed to just be able to be part of this home and not only enjoying it, but also haring it with others.
