One of the best houses I've stayed in. It was very clean, had comfortable beds, modern appliances and a perfect basement for hanging out. The host was easy to communicate with as well.
Having a beach on the riverfront was great for fishing, swimming and boating. We enjoyed using the property and the host were very hospitable and accommodating.
The house was meticulous. It had an amazing vibe and atmosphere. We can't say enough about the private beach. The owners are some of the nicest and most genuine people that we could have hoped for. Rent this home with confidence.
Our stay here was awesome. The house was great, and the location was beautiful. Hosts were communicative and helpful with any questions we had. Private beach was gorgeous. Peaceful and serene location for any trip. I look forward to booking again!
We were very happy with our stay, the house was very clean and the property was well kept. The river was so great, even at high tide we had a lot of beach area to walk and explore and the water was comfortable and calm. We loved all the room the house has, it was very tastefully decorated and the kids loved the big bedrooms. We only wish we had more time to stay- next time!
It was a great stay for us. It is a bit quiet and isolated but the private river access and beach were the best and the house was clean and had everything we needed to have a fun family weekend. Daryl and Judy were helpful and made sure we had what we needed.
The house was well appointed , quiet, and had a beautiful view of the water from the back deck. The home was clean, spacious and inviting. The host was wonderful to work with. Our group enjoyed spending time on the beach in the evening watching the sunset. I would absolutely recommend this property if you are looking for a peaceful getaway. We didn't take advantage of it this time but the area is wonderful to stay in for easy day trips to Busch Gardens or Colonial Williamsburg.
My family and our friends enjoyed our stay at this house. It was a nice getaway. We took one of our days while we stayed there a played at the River.
Judy was very nice and helpful when we had questions!!
Thanks for opening your home for us to stay for our vacation.
This was a great place to stay. House was nice and clean, and a beautiful view of the James River. Judy was very welcoming, and open to communication, though we didn't need much during our stay. The location wasn't what I was expecting, but that's my fault, due to lack of researching. However, it's only a total 1 hour drive to Williamsburg, which includes a 20 minute ride on the ferry, which was pretty pleasant. Overall great stay.
The house is wonderful and Judy and Daryl are fantastic hosts! The house is nicer than the photos and incredibly well stocked. Our granddaughter couldn’t believe the number of towels. We didn’t realize how remote the location is but that adds to the charm. We loved taking the free ferry to Jamestown and Williamsburg. And we also loved just hanging out in the house and going down to the beach. I highly recommend this house either as a quiet getaway or as a hub for visiting the many historic sites in the area (or both). We look forward to returning!
Owners are wonderful, accommodating, friendly hosts. They’ve thought of everything. They are happy to help if you need anything. Beautiful property. Super clean home. Couldn’t be happier with our stay and hope to return one day. :)
This comfortable, spacious and clean house near the James River was perfect for a Thanksgiving weekend. The kitchen was well supplied, the pool table a hit, the location private with beautiful trees and a short distance from a lovely shelled beach with Cypress trees. We went to Williamsburg via ferry and to Norfolk for a tour of the Battleship Wisconsin, each a bit over an hour away. The host was easily reached and answered queries quickly. A great get-away!
We loved our stay here, and are already planning another trip for next year! The pictures don't do it justice—we were pleasantly surprised by the house upon arrival. It's clean, extremely well-stocked, the setting is super serene, and the beds are SUPER COMFORTABLE. We all got some amazing sleep while there.
Judy and her husband live down the road, so we ran into them on our daily walks to the beach. They were super nice, and fun to talk with.
The beach is private, so we had it to ourselves the whole time. We found lots of shark teeth and other fossils, and loved just gazing out at the water. It was so relaxing. We didn't have any kids on this trip, but will probably bring some next time we come, because it'll be perfect for them!
We had a fantastic time! Judy was amazing! Before we even left she had contacted us to make sure when we got there the lights would be on if we were to arrive after dark. Once we got there the house was more than enough room for 4 adults and 5 kids. We ended checking out Williamsburg which wasn’t too far from the property. When we got back to the house Judy had invited us down to the beach which was a short walk from the house for a bonfire. The water was calm and shallow enough that my kids had a blast playing in it. There were shells all over the beach to explore as well. We had an awesome time and are looking to enjoy a longer stay when we go back. If you’re looking for a fun weekend in a quiet spot I highly recommend this place.
We really enjoyed our stay at the house. It was very clean, spacious, and comfortable. The website listing doesn't do it justice. Out kids loved playing at the very private beach- we had it all to ourselves! The water was warm and shallow, and the owner even came out to tell us about how to use a small water slide they have. Also, the listing says that the house has 2 bathrooms, but it actually has 3 full bathrooms. It also doesn't mention that there is a pool table, which was a very nice surprise. The owners graciously allowed us to have a later check-out time so that we could enjoy the beach that morning. We would definitely rent this house again if we are vacationing in the area, and hopefully for longer!
If you want quiet and relaxing away from it all with spectular views of the water, sunrises and wildflife this property is ideal. We went to area for a last minute Catfishing tourament and booked on short notice. The owners were awesome made sure we got into the property okay and were very helpful throughout our stay. We spent the majority of our time on the water so didnt really get to enjoy all they offer with the property but did take a walk to beach and through the woods. So peaceful and relaxing. House is stock with all the basics and more to make you feel right at home and not have to worry about that first cup of coffee if you arrive late. Cant say how kind Judy and Daryl are they will make you feel lright at home.
We stayed for a long weekend with the kids to explore Jamestown, Williamsburg and Yorktown.
We all had a fabulous time at the house. It is well-stocked with anything you could need and is rural and quiet.
The beach on the river that was a quick drive down the gravel lane was the kid’s favorite thing about the weekend. We watched the sunrise one morning and stayed until after the sunset another day. We found so many perfect shells!
The free ferry across the river was another highlight for the kids.
We saw deer in the driveway every morning and evening.
The location was great, the house was clean and we made use of the grill and firepit.
The beds were comfortable, appliances were new and well-kept. Not a single complaint.
We all want to come back for a longer stay!
We had an excellent experience, even better than expected. We were very comfortable in the home and couldn’t be happier about the unique location. There was plenty of room for my 5 guests and was equipped with all the essentials. It is situated on a peaceful lot, shaded by trees with a beautiful view of the James River. Since we did not want to leave the property, we enjoyed cooking our own meals on the grill provided and sitting around the large fire pit at night. In the day, we took full advantage of the private beach just down the road, where we could fish/crab, enjoy a plethora of water activities or just lounge and relax. Judy and Daryl were the most hospitable hosts that I have ever stayed with. They went out of their way to ensure we felt welcomed, and that we had everything we needed including plenty of fire wood. Judy even surprised us with some special touches to celebrate my husbands’ 40th birthday. The group was already planning our return trips before we even left. Highly recommend!
