Experience peace and quiet inside and outside this cozy log cabin in a tropical setting. From the porch swing in front to the firepit in back, the breeze through the palms, oaks, pines and ferns carries birds and butterflies, but no traffic noise. Feel at home watching streaming channels in front of the fireplace, or dining al fresco on the porch lit by Edison lights at night. There are many nature trails, some with canoe rentals (I recommend the boardwalk at Anderson’s Ford, Hillsborough River State Park, as well as the Alafia River) with downtown Tampa only 30 minutes away. Easy access to shopping, restaurants, tourist attractions. Perfect getaway for a couple with one or two children. There is also a “pack and play”, and the couch is comfortable for another adult but it is not a pull out bed. The cabin is fully equipped for cooking, with extra bedding, hygiene and sanitation necessities, even games and magazines.

Liked: Cleanliness, location, listing accuracy
Disliked: Check-in
The house itself was nice, the gate (in sand) at the beginning what is a surprise the driveway is a bit narrow very tight for a truck (1/2 ton) the parking overhang canopy was very nice. Would not recommend property if bringing a boat to the area. The porch was beautiful, plenty of seating and decorative. Check in process was very difficult. The code we were given did not work. It was very difficult to get a hold of the property owner even though we had paid for Friday night for some reason she did not expect us until Saturday. We could not get a hold of her had to actually contact Vrbo and they had to contact the property owner in order for us to get a code to get into the home due code given did not work, (upon entering the home in the kitchen there was a small bag trash inside). The home was very nice plenty of supplies. Everything we needed and then more main room bed was very comfortable. The spare room would be good for kids or one adult. AC worked wonderfully had a beautiful fireplace, even though we did not utilize it. Well water was a surprise to us. We had to purchase additional water for the trip, but had minimal smell. Two different coffee makers. Nice supply of K cups. The property was very quiet. The porch was beautiful being able to sit outside on the swing, listening to the birds and the wind chimes neighborhood was nice other than a few 4wheelers going down the street.

About the host
Hosted by Kate Kampfe
I’ve lived in the Tampa Bay Area for forty years as a Realtor for most of that time. Now I’m retired. I’ve always been an artist who loves to travel. The log cabin provides me a peaceful retreat to nature that’s close to home. My guests have been very interesting people who enjoy it as I do. I am allergic to dogs so I would appreciate people with service animals or emotional support animals choosing a different location that is pet friendly.
Why they chose this property
The log cabin is located on an acre of natural FL vegetation. This allows native fauna like gopher tortoises and pollinators to live free from the pesticides required for turf in the subdivisions. This super quiet neighborhood is zoned one home per acre, but is surrounded by new developments where the houses are side by side. There is no background traffic noise, only bird sounds and wind chimes. Everyone minds their own business. It’s close to many nature trails and the Alafia River with easy access to shopping and freeways.
What makes this property unique
The log cabin is cozy, peaceful, and private surrounded by nature. Having a house to yourself with two bedrooms and full size washer and dryer allows for longer, comfortable stays.
