Keywords: Completely Remodeled in 2009, the house develops over three floors for a total of approximately 1200 Sqft. As opposed to other accommodations, often designed with the purpose of creating as many units as possible for touristic accommodation, our goal was to create a place where our family can stay for extended period of time. it is something we call home.

Wonderful Spello

Spent 5 nights in Spello. The house is on the main street of Spello. You are walking distance to restaurants and shops. The house was clean with two showers. The bed in main bedroom was super comfortable. We had no problems with our stay. Spello is a wonderful spot to tour Umbria.

City of Flowers

This lovely apartment is located in the middle of a beautiful small Italian village that captures the heart of Italian culture and life. The renovations bring utilities to contemporary comfort, but leave the rich heritage of ancient Italian life intact. The location is within easy walking distance of all the small shops and eating accommodation , and is just a short walk from the train station, making travel to other locations a breeze. The perfect place to experience the rich history and immerse yourself in real Italian culture.

Beautiful Spello Home!

Oh you are going to love this home! Spello is a very special spot, great for a short on long stay and this home is like the icing on the cake. Simply wonderful, surprising lovely throughout and absolutely pristine. Equipped with everything you could need, modern, fresh restoration of a classically styled Italian residence, with restaurants, cafes, shopping and more right outside your front door. Communication was faultless with the property owner and free parking was a short five minutes away, which is amazing in a popular Hill Town. Spello itself is truly magical and well located to so many of the must see Umbrian sites. Yes this property is a few dollars more than some in the area, but it is in my mind it is well worth the owner’s ask. Lots of space, beautifully decorated right down to the stunning bed linens. Fabulous find, truly special.. book it now!

Beautiful Property

The house was exactly as described by he owner. Everything you needed was available. Lovely welcome gifts were well received. The thing to keep in mind when booking is that you are in a hill town and while everything is close at hand it is up hill pretty much all the time, either there or back. Also if traveling by car, walking 5 to 7 minutes to the public lot each time you want to travel out is a little bit of a pain. Parking is at a premium in Spello. The town itself is charming and close to eveything in Umbria, Assisi is minutes away as is Spoletto, Perugia, Todi amd even the coast and Florence are drivable. The house as I said was wonderful, tastefully decorated and charming. We will consider it again for another stay.

Immaculate and stunningly beautiful

Desiree’s has put much thought and care to make her guests feel special and pampered. The beds have luxurious pressed embroidered linen. There was a welcome basket of olive oil, bread, jam, honey, cookies, etc. The home has every modern amenity and yet still maintains a warm rustic Italian feel. The location close to the bottom of the town, makes it very convenient. Desiree is a good communicator. Her detailed instructions on the use of appliances etc, was very welcome, as we do not speak Italian and we’re unfamiliar with how to use Italian appliances. The washer and dryer (very rare to find) was a huge plus. Nothing was lacking, everything was “perfecto”! We have already recommended this home to friends and hope to return in the future. Spello is a perfect home base, beautiful with a small village feel. Thank you Desiree, we love your home.

Perfect choice

My wife and I spent a month in Spello at this house, having never rented a place for that long. Any worries that we had were answered perfectly. The few problems that arose early in our stay (plumbing and lighting problems, malfunctioning dishwasher) were handled with dispatch my the charming house manager Anna. The location of the house was ideal, close to parking when we rented a car and walking distance to the train when we chose that. Spello is magical with its old stone buildings and peaceful, at least when the tourist tide subsides each evening The house itself is very comfortable, well-equipped, with extraordinary care taken in the renovation of the old building. I was especially impressed by the windows - the soundproofing was amazing on what is a busy road and the hardware was great. We've rented many vacation homes over the years and this was easily one of the very best we've ever stayed in. It was the perfect choice for an extended stay. Grazie mille!

Ideal base for traveling Umbria

We couldn't have been more pleased with Desiree's home in Spello. The house itself was perfect, simply and beautifully decorated, in an ancient building that was totally updated. New kitchen appliances and everything needed to cook a full meal. Very comfy beds. Icing on the cake were the exquisite bed linens, embroidered and trimmed in lace. Great location, where we had nearby access to everything we needed--grocery, bakery, coffee, restaurants, pharmacy, bank, market, etc. We loved waking and walking to our favorite Bakery for coffee and croissants and picking up torte and salami at the grocer. The town of Spello is magical--doorways are decorated with a mass of flowers and the streets are perfectly clean. There are also amazing restaurants, friendly and helpful Umbrians, beautiful walks, a museum, great shopping, and events like the Infiorate that we were lucky enough to participate in. Spello is a perfect base for exploring the whole of Umbria, and we did that throughout our month there. I can't imagine a lovelier vacation than our time in Spello. Thank you Desiree and Anna!

Mittelalter Altstadt Flair

Beautiful home in charming Spello

We loved our time in Spello staying in this beautiful home. It was the highlight of our Italian vacation and I can’t recommend it highly enough. The home has been renovated with style and elegance and the hosts have taken care to provide everything you need. The beds are supremely comfortable, the linens are exquisite, and the kitchen and bathrooms are lovely. Spello is a charming hilltop town in Umbria with great restaurants and shops and its winding alleys are adorned with a gorgeous array of flowers and plants. It’s a gardener’s paradise that we had a hard time leaving but know that we will definitely come back again. Desiree and Giampaolo are wonderful hosts with a beautiful home and they make it easy to have a dream vacation. Your expectations will be exceeded in every way and you won’t leave disappointed. Your only regret will be that you didn’t stay longer!

A Bit of Paradise

My wife and I visited Spello this past June with an explicit purpose: to experience The Infiorata . We selected this house because we knew it was located near the city center and close to all of the festivities associated with The Infiorata. We could not have chosen a better home or location to view the festive floral event. Our den windows overlooked the street containing the floral designs ,thus affording us a perfect view from above . We saw it all from our open window ; the laying down of the design for the display with all its colors to the completion of the beautiful floral pattern . The spacious house was immaculate and tastefully decorated. The responsive owners kindly left water, bread, jams and olive oil for us to enjoy in their modern and well equiped kitchen. Our bedroom was on the back side and very quiet inspite of all the street activity. The bed was very comfortable and the bathrooms were smartly tiled . There is a good reason why this home receives only the top rating; it deserves it and did not dissapoint us in any way. We knew there were steps and that the bedrooms were on the third level; the climb was well worth the effort. All three AC units in the home were functional and the internet worked well for us. We thoroughly enjoyed staying here and have already booked it for another stay in 2020. Paul and Ardis Huizenga Grand Rapids, Michigan

Highly Recommended in one of our favorite Umbrian locations!

We had a great rental experience in Spello last year but the same location was not available for this stay. The location of this apartment is great and easy to access all of Spello. We parked just outside the village and were able to walk everywhere. Desiree was super responsive to all communication and made check-in and check-out very easy. The apartment was very well equipped (kitchen, tech items, air conditioning, washer/dryer etc). We didn't look for anything that wasn't there. We happily ended up there during the Infiorata Festival which was amazing. The apartment is in the action and overlooks the pathway. Spello is the perfect size village. It has that small town feeling but is large enough that there are great shops and numerous very good restaurants. A short drive to Assisi and other local towns that are fun to visit. I would certainly recommend this location to stay and you can't go wrong with Spello.

Wonderful extended stay in Spello!

We used Spello and this lovely house as a base for touring Umbria for three weeks in May. The house was wonderful, just as pictured in the description. It was immaculately clean, which is a top priority for us. We enjoyed walking to the piazza in the morning for cappuccino and brioche, relaxing and people watching. There is a small fruit and vegetable market just a few minutes from the house. We visited here quite often since the produce was delicious! Parking is outside the town walls, but only a five minute walk from the house. Desiree was extremely prompt in repsonding to any questions we had. Spello, a beautiful town, was conveniently located to visit other Umbrian hill towns, which we did almost everyday. The train is walkable from the house, if you desire to travel by train instead of car. We would definitely recommend this house in Spello to others, and hope we can return one day.

A fine stay

We visited Spello a year earlier and found Spello, nearby towns (like Montefalco, Bevagna, and Assisi) and the surrounding landscape (olive trees, vineyards, rolling hills) wonderful. Returning home, we decided to rent a place in Spello the following year and looked online at many options - from hotel rooms to homes for rent. We chose to rent "Our House in Spello," and it proved to be a very good choice. We highly recommend it to you. Although the house can accommodate additional people, we rented it for just the two of us. This gave us a master bedroom (which was thankfully air conditioned and extremely quiet), a second bedroom (also air conditioned, where we kept our suitcases and which we used as a dressing room), and the full use of the kitchen (also air conditioned), sitting area, and two bathrooms. Much better than any hotel room, and very reasonably priced! The house has a wonderful location in the town. There is a welcome basket of extra virgin olive oil, jams, and other goodies in the kitchen. There are also basic "provisions" in the house like soaps, shampoos, laundry detergent - making your arrival and stay that much easier. Everything works, and every room is immaculate. The kitchen appliances, kitchen drawers, cabinetry, silverware, and pots are absolutely spotless (which is not always the case with rentals). The bedrooms, bathrooms, floors, linens - all clean and cared for. Renting this home gave us the location we wanted, multiple rooms to use, an extremely quiet bedroom, a spacious kitchen, and the air conditioning that we needed in key rooms (because it was unseasonably warm in Umbria this June). The tiled, spiral stairs between each floor were manageable for us, but anyone considering renting this property should be aware that bringing suitcases up these stairs can be challenging, and going up and down the spiral stairs requires a certain level of fitness. All of our communications with Desiree - from start to finish - were a pleasure. Reasonable, informative, helpful, responsive, friendly, and honest. Check-in and check-out were super simple (the key was waiting for us in the lock-box at the front door on arrival, and we were told to just leave the key on the kitchen table when we departed). Altogether, a very good experience - and we recommend it to you!

Great apartment in medieval hilltop town!

Talk about great location to do short day trips around to see Umbria's beautiful hilltop towns. Great comfort too. A/C, tho didn't need it with the lovely thick walls to stay cool. Washer helped, full kitchen equipped with everything. Restaurants plentiful and the town itself lovely to explore. Parking is short walk away, but can drop off things right at apartment door, for short term plaid parking. Terrific atmosphere and ambience. Nice shops. Try the wines, terrific. Especially Montefalco reds.

Total rest and relaxation

Spello is the perfect small town to relax while still enjoying everything about vacationing in Italy. The house is close to the train station, but easy parking for a car at the bottom of the hill. House is immaculate and owners will respond promptly if any concern arises. Two bedrooms and two bathrooms are hard to find --and ones that are modern but retain the old city charm. We love the house and town, visited 5 times now!

Spacious and we'll situated

We spent a week in this house is Spello. It was clean and spacious and in a perfect location. Spello is delightful in itself and a great center for visiting other sights and sites in Umbria (for example Perugia and Assisi). The owners were very quick to respond directly to any questions, and the local caretaker very kindly left us tasty treats. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Una bella casa

This house in Spello was perfect for us. It's charming, clean, well situated, and came with ammenities, such as, olive oil and jam. A nice touch that made us feel very welcome. The parking lot is at the bottom of the hill, which would only be a problem for those who have real difficulty walking.

A true Umbrian treasure.

I shared this lovely home with 2 friends the week of Le Infiorate. What a fabulous event this was and we were in the midst of it all being on the Main Street. This quiet hill town became a high energy place filled with many tourists-mostly Italians which was nice to see. The whole event of watching the floral carpets being made was magical. We had everything we could want in this home. The rooms are very light with big windows and shutters that open to the outside. Everything was immaculate. A joy!

Perfect in every way!

Spello is a charming Umbrian hill town, and this home is in an ideal location within the city walls. We came specifically for Le infiorate which is held annually the 9th Sunday after Easter. This home is on the main street of Spello, so we could watch the religious procession and decorating of flower carpets from the windows of the house. What an amazing event this was!! The house has been newly restored and is very spacious. It is immaculate and is beautifully furnished with a mix of antiques and new furnishings. Having a washer/ dryer is handy if you are staying for more than a few days. Desiree and Giampalo, the owners, live in the US so are very responsive to questions. You will love your time in Spello and will be comfortable in this lovely home. It has 3 floors, so you will get a workout climbing stairs...a good thing to help with all the pasta carbs you will eat! This home is close to wonderful restaurants, and only a 15 minute walk to the train station, so a car us not needed.

Spacious house in hillside Spello

My wife, sister-in-law and I stayed 8 days in this wonderful house in Spello. The house is in a great location in the hillside village of Spello. Everything in the house is elegant and very comfortable. Spello has many fine restaurants and is located near many other towns that are great to visit with many restaurants as well. Desiree, the owner, was pleasant to deal with and Anna, her property manager/mother-in-law was great. We would highly recommend this property for a stay in Umbria.

Why they chose this property

A few years ago my husband brought me to meet his family in Italy. As I walked through its cobblestone streets, I immediately fell in love with the village he was raised in, Spello! This medieval hill town, nestled amongst silver green olive groves, golden pastures of grain and sunflower fields immediately worked a magic spell upon my heart. Like many towns in Umbria and Tuscany, Spello looks as if it has been taken out of a fairy tale. No matter how many beautiful and exciting cities I have been fortunate to explore, the peace, calm and happiness I feel when in Spello is simply unique. It is my magic place. Out of our love for Spello, we have recently bought and completely restored a medieval house in the historic center. We like to rent our vacation retreat and share it with other people that enjoy the beauty of this part of Italy. I hope you will have fun discovering what is magical about our town. For my daughters it is most definitely the gelato (ice cream!) and the cornetto they enjoy every day at the nearby patisserie - - Desiree -
