About this property
Sunrise, Sunsets and Redfish at the Bungalows on South Ocean
The views are amazing from everywhere you look. Bring your boat, kayak, Mules and golf carts--we've got the room. Water access to launch kayaks or fish just to the right of the house. Indianola Fishing Marina is about a minute away--$5.00 per pole or to launch. Kitchen is loaded. Our living and bedroom space is just right for a smaller group. Bedrooms separate from main house--King Bed in upstairs and 2nd bedroom in separate structure for privacy and Laz-y Boy Queen sleeper in living room.

Beautiful, historic Indianola, Texas. Amazing fishing area in unincorporated area of Calhoun County on the Matagorda Bay. The Powderhorn Wildlife Management Area is directly behind us--a beautiful marsh system full of channels for fishing and bird watching. Adjacent to Magnolia Beach, where you will find a public fishing pier. On Brighton Avenue, you will find 2 other single lane bridges popular with fishermen. Only minutes by boat to Port O'Connor.
Approximately 15 minute drive from Port Lavaca, 30 minute drive to Port O'Conner and a 50 minute drive to Rockport.
Guests are welcome to utilize all living spaces. Laundry room may be available with prior authorization. This room includes a washer and dryer, in addition to some life jackets, chairs, fishing nets.
Beautiful sunrises and sunsets, water access to launch kayaks and only a 1 minute drive to launch your boat for only $5 at the Indianola Fishing Marina at the end of the road. Our house does not focus on number of people you can cram into 4 walls, but we do focus on our Guests! We are set-up -up to allow for the most privacy while giving ample opportunity to spend time together on three different patios/ decks--1 deck off the front porch, with captains chairs and seating for 4 more, The next deck is beside the driveway, shaded by the pergola. You will also have seating on the upstairs deck for the couple lucky enough to call dibs on the king bedroom. We have a picnic table under the elevated deck, which always seems to catch a great breeze--perfect spot for hanging out and eating up fresh-caught fish.
Living and kitchen area located on ground floor, with views of the ever-changing Matagorda Bay right out the front door. BBQ available.
Kitchen is fully equipped with large and small appliances, along with dining table.
All sleeping areas are equipped with TV and WiFi and coffee machines.
The bedrooms are located just outside of the main house; the first room being upstairs, and offering a very comfortable king-size bed and a single sleeper futon (I have slept on this fold out bed and was very comfortable--5'4 female), mini fridge and Keurig coffee pot. The deck offers stunning water views, great sunsets and star-gazing.
The second bedroom is located in the building just behind the main house. This room offers queen size bed, 43" Smart TV single and serve-Keurig. This room also has a 1/2 bath with outdoor shower with hot and cold water just outside the door at ground-level.
Three very distinct and separate sleeping areas to allow for maximum privacy.
Kayaks are allowed to launch at water to the right of house. Boat parking in specific areas. I have been told the Marina allows overnight docking.
Guests are welcome to utilize all living spaces. Laundry room available . This room includes a washer and dryer, in addition to some life jackets, chairs, fishing nets. 2 single person kayaks available--Signed liability Release required.
What to bring::
Beach towels --some here but may not be enough for your group
Bug spray
Groceries, ice, charcoal--closest HEB/ Walmart is 15-20 minute drive to Port Lavaca
Fishing equipment: The marina sells frozen and live bait, along with hooks, lures, t-shirts, etc.
Food: The Marina has a Bar and Grill and the food is pretty good. Live music on the weekends and Steak Night on Fridays:
There is also a small grocery store and gas station off Highway 316--Make a Left on 2760 and it will be on the right side. They sell gas, pizza, a small selection of groceries and tackle.

About the host
Hosted by Terra Barton

Together with my husband, Scott, and mother-in-law, MaryBeth, we started our adventure with vacation rentals about 3 years ago in Rockport. We started with a little cottage near the Copano Causeway and a year later, we bought the cottage right next door. Recently, MaryBeth picked up the one next to that, which she uses for her own enjoyment. We all live in South Texas. I am from Ventura, California and Scott and MaryBeth are from Levelland, TX. Scott is a Dentist and MaryBeth was a life-long educator. Currently, I am a full-time dog mom to Maggie, my German Shepard and Lucy--she has about 14 different breeds--but has a lot of terrier. We love our blended family. We have several kids and grandkids. My hobby is my family and Scott's hobby is golf, tennis and being on the board of our club. Scott also is very involved with his company and advancing the careers of the younger dentists along with mentoring young dentists learning Invisagn. With all of that said, we stay busy . MaryBeth does not let grass grow under her feet and she is always on the move.
Why they chose this property
By complete accident, I found this beautiful A-Frame in Indianola and it was love at first sight. In my opinion, the house is a show-stopper. Built in the 1960's and then rebuilt from the inside out by the former owner, we have tried to maintain a '70's vibe with décor and not making the interior work to hard to stand out. A lot of the houses in this area are big party houses--ours is not really 'that'--instead, it is a place to unwind, relax, vibe out on just being and enjoying the 3 'F's": friends, family and fishing. Our sunrises and sunsets are astonishing.
What makes this property unique
This property offers everything you need for a short or long stay. All linens are provided. Each room offers TV and Wi-Fi. You will have access to all 3 patios; 2 down stairs and 1 elevated deck above. Each bedroom is separated by 4 walls...complete privacy. Not only that, but each room has its own bathroom. A nice feature is the outdoor shower, offering hot water! Yes!!! Parking for your boat is not a problem--we have plenty of room. We have a nice sized BBQ and work table for preparing food outside. Washer and dryer are available for use. We have plenty of room for your golf cart, boat or kayaks. Kayaks can be launched jus to the right of the bungalow. The Indianola Fishing Marina is a 5 minute walk or a 30 second drive by car. You can launch boats/ kayaks from that location, order a meal, get a drink not to mention buy bait and some tackle, clothes, etc. On the weekends during spring and summer, the marina offers live music and they have a Steak Night.
