Cowboy Cabin at Azevedo Ranch: Near Bryce & Zion, with Private Lake & Wildlife
Welcome to Azevedo Ranch — a peaceful, one-of-a-kind stay in the high desert just minutes from Bryce Canyon.
Our ranch is a rare 101- acre oasis in this desert landscape, with green grass, mature trees, and a small on-site lake that brings life and calm to the property. We have 1/4 mile of the Sevier River on our property.
It’s a place to slow down, breathe, and enjoy a quieter pace — whether you’re visiting the national parks or simply looking for a comfortable place to land.
The Cowboy Cabin is one of three guest houses on our family-owned ranch and offers a spacious, comfortable home base for your stay. You’ll have your own private studio-style cabin, with room to relax inside and out, while still being part of the wider ranch setting.
The lake is a special feature of the ranch and is shared among the three guest accommodations on the property. It’s stockedm and if you have a Utah fishing license, you can fish! (Catch and release only). Each space is separate and private, but you may see other guests enjoying the grounds during your stay.
You’ll also notice animals around the ranch — part of what gives this place its charm. This is a hobby ranch, not a commercial farm, but the presence of animals adds to the experience in a way that feels grounded and real. Wild eagles, owls, hawks, antelope and deer live on the ranch as well as our own cattle, goats, chickens, horses and alpaca!
We’re located just off Highway 89, about 1.9 miles south of the turnoff to Bryce Canyon (Highway 12). That makes this an ideal home base for exploring Bryce Canyon National Park, Zion National Park, and the surrounding area — while staying somewhere that feels peaceful and removed from the crowds.
The Cowboy Cabin has a kitchenette (no stove/oven, but a full fridge, hot plates, microwave and toaster), a small dining table, futon sofa, queen bed and bunk bed for kids. It’s a cozy place to stay, whether you’re here for a few nights or a longer visit. (Note: Cabin bunk bed is for kids only; the Cowboy Cabin can accommodate 3 adults max and 2 children.)
It’s well-suited for individuals, couples, or families with 2-3 kids who want space to roam. The Cowboy Cabin has it’s own porch with picnic table and fire pit for making S’mores. The entire experience is a relaxed, peaceful environment to come back to at the end of the day.
Outside, you can enjoy the open space, fresh air, and the unique beauty of the ranch. Mornings are quiet and calm. Evenings are perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring.
Stargazing here is incredible, right from the front lawn! We know you’ll love this special place.
A few important notes:
The ranch includes three separate guest rentals (Lake House, Cowboy LOFT, and Cowboy Cabin) The common areas shared with other guests include parking, lake with canoe, river, 2nd camp fire ring (the one in front of the Cabin is exclusive for Cabin guests!) and surrounding pastures and forests. The owner lives on-site in a separate private residence This is a peaceful, rural setting — not a resort or event venue (although we can host events with prior approval) No pets, no camping, and no events without prior approval Do not feed our animals. However, you can ask to participate with ranch work and feedings! We are happy to share our pets with you! Feel free to roam and explore all 101 acres; exercise common sense and safety!
Your property will be unlocked and ready for you when you arrive.
If you need anything during your stay, feel free to reach out.

This was such a beautiful place to stay! Tucked away on a family ranch, but still close to Bryce Canyon. The kids had a blast exploring! Lex (the owner) was friendly and check-in/check-out was a breeze. Will stay again!
Stayed here for honeymoon. Absolutely loved it. Perfect location for visiting the national parks down in southern Utah. Really enjoyed the welcoming party (two adorable goats ha). Great place for a more rustic getaway
We stayed at Azevedo Ranch on our family road trip through Utah. The property was beautiful and so fun for us to wander around and make friends with the animals, kayak around the pond and ended the day with s’mores around the campfire. It was a wonderful reset for our family!
We stayed for 2 nights. The property is magical. The outdoor space is so green and peaceful and the kids enjoyed running around the ranch while we enjoyed a peaceful time my the fire pit. Would defiantly visit again
This property was everything we needed and more. We were here to visit Bryce Canyon NP. The location was perfect! It was quiet and peaceful, with farm animals my toddler could visit. We loved the goats the roamed the property. There was also a pond out front with a canoe and a paddle board. Lex, the owner, was friendly and very responsive. We will for sure be coming back!

Our stay at the Covid Cabin was cozy! We enjoyed the ranch and its animals. Lex was very nice and friendly.
The kids wanted to stay here all day rather than explore Bryce Canyon. Kayaking, canoeing, and lots of animals to meet... It was great! Fire pit was also nice and we enjoyed a lot of s'mores.
If we ever visit the area again, this will definitely be the place we stay!
This small cabin is located on a 100 acre property. There are some cows, chickens, alpacas, goats and a horse on property. You can also use the large fire pit in the front of the cabin. Cabin is about 25 minutes from Bryce Canyon.
If you want to connect with your family, spend real time with some amazing people, then book this place. Lex and staff are tremendous. Amazing property that he lets the kids interact with his animals and explore the property. We absolutely loved it.
Beautiful little farm - the yellow fall color was so pretty and the goats made us laugh every time we came back or left the cabin. It’s a rustic little cabin but with everything you need and an easy drive to food and the park. C Stop Pizza in Panguitch is some of the best we’ve ever had. Beautiful view of the stars at night if you get out away from the house! I’m not docking the cabin for this bc I think it’s totally a matter of preference, but fyi the mattresses are memory foam in case really soft mattresses aren’t your thing. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay!
Kids loved the animals. Lex was willing to show us around to some of the animals that were harder to see. We made a fire and kids played on swings. Living quarters are cozy and we were comfortable.
We were in a little cabin off the main house. It was perfect for our family of four. We were disappointed to not have more time there - we arrived after dark and left the next morning just after 7am. Lovely property and very good hospitality from Lex and his staff. Thank you for opening your property to guests, Lex!
My family and I had an awesome experience. My 10-year-old daughter loved all the animals. Especially the horse. You can drink water from the spring next to the Cabin. The property is even more beautiful in person. Lex, the host, was great and made the stay even better.
The cabin was the perfect size for our family of 5. We cooked all of our meals there and used the fire pit as well. There's endless firewood available. The pond was amazing for fishing, and we also used the provided kayak and canoe to paddle around. We were able to see and feed a lot of the animals. There's a hammock, swinging bench, and large circle swing in a beautiful grove of trees next to the cabin. We were on nice green grass so we didn't have to worry about sage brush and ticks. We could see the milky way and the stargazing was incredible. Our drive to Bryce was about 22 minutes. I would stay here again in a heart beat. It was truly a magical experience.
Azevedo Ranch has been a long-time vision brought to life.
I’m Lex, and my wife Rose and I are the owners of Azevedo Ranch. I spent many years in the music industry in Hollywood as a record producer, composer, and arranger. After living in Hollywood, I relocated to Salt Lake City, but ultimately wanted something very different — a peaceful place where my family could gather, slow down, and enjoy time together away from the noise.
I found that here on this 101-acre “Garden of Eden”, Azevedo Ranch.
We were guided by divine inspiration and bought the riverfront property in 2018, Since then, we have built the barn, the Studio we live in, and the Cowboy Cabin; we expanded & stocked the lake, and added the sweeping front lawn for family gatherings. This gem in the desert has been thoughtfully shaped over the years into a rare and beautiful place I love, with trees, green space, and a small lake, which is not something you come across often in this part of dry-desert Utah.
We have built this as a place centered around family. Between us, we have eleven children, along with 40+ grandchildren and now even 7+ great-grandchildren. The ranch was created with all of them in mind: a place to visit, reconnect, and simply be together.
Rose is Brazilian and we spend much of the cold winters in Brazil or warmer places. We are both fluent in Portuguese.
Azevedo Ranch is our home and remains a central gathering place for family and beloved friends.
Today, we share the ranch with guests who are looking for that same sense of calm and space — whether you’re here to explore Bryce Canyon and the surrounding parks, or just to enjoy a quieter, more grounded stay. Many guests who stay with us plan to visit Bryce… but they never leave our Ranch! It’s truly unique and peaceful.
This isn’t a resort. It’s a family-owned ranch, built with intention, and meant to be experienced that way.
We’re glad you’re here.
— Lex & Rose
Why they chose this property
We chose this area for its quiet, open space and its proximity to some of the most beautiful landscapes in the country. And the best part: "A River Runs Through it."
The ranch sits just off Highway 89 on the Sevier River, about 1.9 miles south of the turnoff to Bryce Canyon. That means you’re close enough to easily explore Bryce Canyon National Park, Zion National Park, and the surrounding areas — but far enough away to come back to peace and quiet at the end of the day.
This part of southern Utah is known for its wide-open views, dark skies, and slower pace. It’s not crowded or commercialized, and that’s exactly why we chose it. We are a short 15 minute drive to the Main Street of Panguitch, where there is one grocery store, and places to eat and shop. We are about 1.25 hours from Cedar City, the closest major city where we frequent Natural Grocers once a week.
What makes this property especially unique is the contrast. The surrounding area is high desert, but the ranch itself has trees, grass, and a small lake — something you don’t often find out here. It creates a setting that feels calm, grounded, and a little unexpected.
It’s a place where you can spend the day exploring and then come back to something that feels restful and real.
What makes this property unique
Azevedo Ranch is not a typical vacation rental — and that’s intentional.
The ranch itself is a rare oasis in the high desert, with a small lake for floating, paddleboarding, fishing or canoeing, mature trees, and green space that set it apart from the surrounding landscape. It offers a setting that feels peaceful and alive, without being busy or overdeveloped.
The property includes three separate guest accommodations, each with its own private space, while sharing the natural beauty of the ranch. It’s a balance of privacy and openness that many guests appreciate.
You’ll also notice wildlife, of course, but the Ranch is home to our own animals, which adds to the experience in a simple, authentic way. We have a small herd of A2A2 Jerseys, alpaca, mini goats, a variety of chickens, two friendly but untrained horses, and two barn cats.
And, our white “wolf” Aunie the Husky.
This is a hobby ranch, not a commercial operation, and the atmosphere reflects that — quiet, natural, and unforced.
What guests tend to value most is the feeling they get here. It’s calm. It’s spacious. It’s different from staying in town or in a more typical rental.
It’s a place to slow down, reconnect, and enjoy where you are — whether that’s sitting by the lake, walking the property, or just taking in the surroundings after a day of exploring.
