Slow down! Enjoy your morning coffee watching the sunrise over the Chesapeake bay, catch a playful dolphin pod. Cottage is perfect for couples or family. Surrounded by open water & woods home to bald eagles, ospreys this is a perfect getaway from crazy schedules and timelines. Enjoy the laid back pace, go antiquing visit quaint towns. The cottage has all the modern amenities. End the day with a glass of wine and catch the sunset. Cottage is a hidden gem to witness both sunsets & Sunrises
The space
Guests will love the layout of the cottage, big windows to enjoy water views, 3 queen bedrooms, one bedroom with twin beds and pull out daybed for two provide ample room for a family. Yoga space with blocks, mats and amazing view. Dock to the river, perfect for fishing and crabbing OR enjoy peaceful evenings on comfortable Adirondack chairs, fire pit for magical twilight hour. Community provides boat launch ramp, picnic pavilion, beach access and fishing pier.
There is a dedicated yoga space, cushions, mats and yoga blocks have been provided.
Cottage is located on what is referred to "the island" in the community as we are surrounded by water. Right across the river is the state of Maryland and to the east is the Chesapeake Bay.

There are two side decks that provide ample space to enjoy meals and family time. There is BBQ on one side to make the most of your summer time.
4 solo kayaks and one tandem Kayak is available for guests to use, the pier has many levels for you to use and ladders provide access to swimming in the river. Life jackets are provided as well.
If you love the water bring your floating toys and ropes, tie them to the pier and enjoy lazing on the rivah.
THERE ARE NO LIFEGUARDS ALL WATER ACTIVITIES ARE AT YOUR OWN RISK

If you have a boat, you may bring it, there is a community launch area, a reasonable size boat can be accomodated in the parking place (it is sufficient for 4 cars only) There are marinas nearby, list of Marinas are provided in the guidebook! Crabbing and Fishing are a religion here <3

Please check weather before travelling. We have provided a few games and access to Netflix and disney plus for a rainy day.

The cottage is on an "island" The last house on this stretch of road has its own cove and protected beach, that is private property. Guests are welcome to use community amenities including the community beach. If you are travelling from a metropolitan area, please know you are travelling to rural America, where the pace is much slower. Nearest food lion is in Heathsville about 20 minutes away!
Kayaking is best during high tide.

Awesome

beautiful property, fun water activities and very peaceful. The neighbor to the right (if looking at the house from the front) was very rude…luckily he was only home for one day of the trip! There was not enough paddles for the kayaks other then that it was a perfect stay! The host was very tentative and super nice!

We are avid travelers, Rajesh was a merchant marine which allowed us to visit many port cities around the world before switching career to the world of finance which brought us to USA. We have travelled extensively in USA from the time of Maps that were printed and bought at gas station to Cobra GPS to now. We love this country and its hidden gems. In our travels we realized that the experience of Real America is much more valuable thru short term rentals. For example our cottage provides the experience of living by the river, inviting the sun over the water on to your face and into your soul. Wide expansive views 24/7, rural america where everything moves at a very different pace. An ability to actually stop, take it all in, and spend quality time with family friends OR with yourself.
Neelam is a yoga instructor and is a proud owner of local yoga Studio (Shakti Aerial Yoga) in Kilmarnock. Loves to greet the sun on the pier with sun salutations.
We plan to retire here but have a few years before we reach that time in our life, in the meantime it is our intentions to provide what we seeked.

An amazing piece of property, referred by the residents of Northumberland shores as "the island". Cottage is surrounded by water, wide potomac and bay views on one side and calm tidal pond views on the other side. The bedrooms are beautifully appointed and tucked inside, with windows of views of the water. It is a quiet, calm, peaceful area. There is community beach as well.

Waterviews plenty, Birding amazing, if you have your own boat there is community boat launch, easy access to chesapeake bay. Kayaks to paddle to your heart's content. Fishing, crabbing is amazing right off the pier in your backyard. Small town farmland feel, great sea food places, charter fishing nearby.
