★ LGBTQ Owned and Operated ★

Why hello there!

I'm Jewel. My wife and I are the owners of The Secret Land. We made our way nervously down the overgrown ½ mile driveway with keys in hand in December 2022. We decided shortly after moving onto the 30-acre riverfront property that we had to share it with others! We started with a massive clean-up of hoarded belongings left on one side of the property and a demolition process of over 10 outbuildings that month and hauled away tons of trash, cars, boats, buildings, and more. We started in the old farmhouse on the property making a home for our 2 children to enjoy.

We then switched to the riverfront side of the property hand cutting trails, limbing thousands of trees, and slowly, painstakingly in the February snow building an intentional space for guests to enjoy. We drove nails into reclaimed lumber, we shed blood with many…many injuries, and we doubted if it was possible. We made mistake after mistake and believed that if we just got up in the morning and did what was in front of us, we could welcome just one person to enjoy a still moment by the river, with campfire warming their boots, to sit and just be.

This property was a hidden gem for over 100 years and as the new caretakers of the land, it was up to us to make it come to life! We welcomed our first guest April 1st, 2023 and the rest is history. In 2023, we welcomed over 300 guests onto the land and are learning with each guest, and each conversation how important it is to keep working on this space for others. We’ve welcomed guests of all ages and backgrounds with stories that have kept us motivated, allowed us to celebrate, evolve our approach, change our vision, and opened our hearts.

Some moments particularly memorable have been a girlfriend who booked a stay while her boyfriend wanted to enjoy a day in the mountains after being diagnosed with stage 4 brain cancer. A sweet family from the UK that was visiting Washington for the first time and spent 2 days cuddling our dogs asking to stay for a while longer, even offering to help us build our little cabin resort. A loving couple from Seattle who came back many times with gifts and food for our son. They helped us rehabilitate one of our rescue dogs and even jumped on our tractor to create a new area for the chickens. And lastly, all the questions, comments, and stories we’ve gotten from so many couples that ask us how to do what we’re doing. Those many conversations with young couples that want land, and space, and to share their passions but feel a little lost on how to start have really been a driving force. All these guests have held a large space within our hearts and kept us going.

All that’s missing is you! We’re looking forward to entering the next chapter of our little woodsy resort and in 2024, we want to welcome you to enter a place that’s been waiting for you. We invite guests onto our land with acceptance and kindness always. This is a safe space that my wife and I found to be one of the first places we can freely hold hands without stares from anyone; well beside a deer or owl. This land is particularly important as I have autism and it provides me with an important sensory experience.

We support you as you are. We invite you to the freedom of strolling this land owned by a loving couple who'd love to share our happiness and warmth with you today. We invite you as friends and hope you leave as family!

Cheers,
Jewel and Maile

★ Our Resort Mission ★

Our mission is to connect and serve people who want a lush experience on a casual budget! We're brand new opening in April 2023 and we're so excited to serve you. As a millennial couple--we understand things aren't always easy. But our land is a perfect getaway for intimacy, privacy, and casual relaxation. We're just getting started! Come stay with us and see what everyone's talking about!

There are 3 hidden riverfront beaches with sand and space to relax on our beach chairs. There are 30 acres of trails built just for guests to stroll. There's a secret island to explore if you travel through the vast forest. Discover some hidden views of the bamboo forest, stargazing spots, and wildlife wander.

★ Quality over Quantity ★

One of our values on the land is we offer experience over excess. The experience of privacy! We carefully plan each site to have privacy from others who may be enjoying the land. We don't want everyone to find us--it's why we're called The Secret Land! Across the 30-acre land we have two small cabins, one small RV, and one big RV each intentionally spread not to see the other. We'll be building a couple more cabins but we do not plan on milling our old growth, or overpopulation at our little riverside resort. We offer this quality over quantity promise so you can just relax with privacy.

Please reach out for more information about our resort or visit TheSecretLandinEnumclawdotcom.

There is a main bedroom located to the right upon entrance of the main door. Queen-size mattress with mattress & pillow covers for cleanliness. Two closets with hangers included and above head cabinet where the extra linens are kept. Under the bed is large enough to store suitcases or strollers.

There is a bunkhouse bedroom located to the left upon entrance of the main door. There are 3 twin-size beds perfect for bigger groups or those little guests. Ample storage and drawers as well as extra linens provided. There is a large open space in the back under one of the bunks that can easily fit a pack-and-play, infant gear, or large cumbersome suitcases.

★ Main Use Area★

In the middle of the trailer, you'll find bench seating, and dining room area to comfortably seat up to 6. The dining room turns into a full-size bed. There is a smart TV that can be equipped with HDMI to screencast with ease. There are also DVDs located above TV. There is a cozy electric fireplace. You'll also find a radio connected to speakers throughout trailer and outdoor so you can listen to tunes while you enjoy a fire. The kitchen is fully set up with pots, pans, utensils, foil or saran wrap, an electric skillet, an electric griddle, an air fryer, and cleaning supplies. There is a full-size sink, 3 burner propane stovetop, oven, and fridge & freezer. *First aid kit located above the TV.

There is a white cabinet for towels and guest storage. *Protip: I recommend using the top for of the white cabinet for a standing desk if you need to work on any business matters. The A/C is located on the ceiling in the middle and it's simply wonderful come summertime. *BBQ area please read outdoor area.

★ Bathroom ★

The bathroom is located in the back of the trailer near the bunkhouse bedroom. It has a toilet, sink, ample storage, and a shower that will comfortably fit even those who are tall with a removable shower head. The bathroom comes with our shower kits that include shower steamers, shampoo & conditioner bars, soap, and lotion. We also include organic tampons and pads products for our guest comfort. The hot water tank runs for up to 9 minutes and we recommend getting in before starting it for maximum use. We've upgraded the shower head to an Ozonator for longer showers as well. There is a door in the bathroom to exit the trailers for emergencies or you may use it anytime for a shortcut.

★ Outdoor Area ★

The outdoor area is massive! Under the awning, there is a nice-sized propane barbeque and air fryer. All BBQ tools hanging next to it. The outdoor kitchen has a small fridge (it's usually turned off for stays under 3 days). A 2 stove top propane burner, sink, and ample storage space. The S'mores bar and doggy treats are located on the countertop. *Extra Alert: In the drawer in the outdoor kitchen, there is lighter fluid, a bottle opener, bug spray, SPF, and more.

There is a fire pit with seating close to the trailer, a covered canopy area with two different-sized picnic tables, and solar lighting.
There are dog and recreational towels located under the trailer as well as a gold panning kit for use in the river or creek. There are beach chairs located on the creekfront spot located about 50 feet from the trailer. There is a secondary firepit on the creekfront and a 2-4 person hot tub deck.

★ Essential Rules★
Please respect neighboring properties and do not wander past our RED painted signs. Our neighbors value privacy just as much as we do so we ask that you and your dogs stay on our land.

As the owners, we live on-site with our small children. We ask that you keep off the owner's trails or wander near the owner's house without permission. It's the woods after all--we only expect to see bigfoot outside our window!
Other things to note

No hunting or gunfire. Only fishing is allowed. Please pack in and out any line or tackle to keep the river safe and clean for all.

No fire or candles inside any of our trailers or buildings are allowed.

No smoking in the trailer.

Fires should be lit in designated fire pits.

Alcohol should be consumed responsibly near open water. No glass on any beach or in the water.

perfect getaway on magical land
The property was beautiful and enchanted. The host were kind and just a text away for any of our needs. We had a great experience with the trails, beaches, and our own space to relax. The hot tub was a great touch and we can’t wait to visit one of the cabins in the future!

Lovely Stay in the Forest
A friend and I spend a weekend here for a weekend snowboarding trip and had a wonderful time. The space was cozy and we loved hanging out with the 2 adorable, friendly "host" pups. They did a great job showing us around and bringing us cool rocks. The hot tub was nice after a long day on the mountain, and waking up to forest sounds and walking next to the creek and old-growth was magical. The place was well stocked, had everything we needed. The dining table seating could use a facelift - but other than that, we had a wonderful time and I hope to be back soon!

Rustic romantic getaway into nature
My partner and I had a wonderful anniversary celebration and this tucked away gem on the White River. The hosts were amazing and gave us a property tour sharing the story of the property. They pay attention to so many details- big and small- to make your stay go smoothly so you can unwind and relax. We loved the hot tub close to the river, hearing the water in the background, trail walking, how their dogs are super friendly - and one went on a morning walk with us. Being a roasting marshmallow fan, I was particularly appreciative of the jumbo sized ones and other s'mores making ingredients stocked in the RV for us. We'll be back and when you visit, you're in for a treat!

Hopelessly in love with the woods, my wife, my children, and pets. You'll find me and my wife tending to my 30-acre land as we're developing our little riverfront resort or playing with my dogs and feeding my chickens.

I owned a website design company before starting The Secret Land, I'm working towards my master's, and I'm an author. I love hikes, surfing, rock climbing, and traveling.

Some future aspirations are to foster teenagers, start a charity, earn my Ph.D., and write and film a movie.

My personal philosophy is to "Uplift Others and Spread Compassion."

My purpose is rooted in service and it's why I love hosting guests on our land. Hosting is a way I can serve and build community.

Why they chose this property

Its waterfront views had me hooked! Follow the secret trails through the 30-acre woods at the base of Mount Rainer.

What makes this property unique

Private, romantic, and intimate 30-acre property with trees hundreds of years old. No neighbors near our three beaches, two rivers, and privately maintained trails.
