Return visitors for our 2nd annual boating vacation - this property is a perfect size and location for our needs! The Stein's are great hosts. There's a brand new deck offering lots of room to enjoy the beautiful views. Can't wait for our 3rd annual visit next year!

This place is an amazing stay! The house is very charming. The property on it is spacious and well kept. You can view the reservoir from the property. You will need to find a place to access the water, but the host was very helpful and very responsive with any questions we had. The kids played pool and ping-pong the whole time we boated on the reservoir and had a great family vacation! We will definitely be back!

Perfect location on the lake when we wanted to attend American Falls Days festivities. Check-in was easy and we had support from the ring bell accessing the house. Many supplies available such as laundry detergent, dishwashing soap, towels and bedding. Some upkeep is needed and some sulfur smell in the main bathroom sink. Many activities available like pool, ping pong, outdoor fire pit. Relatively easy access to the lake (reservoir).

The house was very nice, and the location was absolutely beautiful—peaceful, scenic, and a great place to unwind. We really enjoyed the setting.A few things future guests might want to know: the heating was very limited during our stay. The main thermostat was locked, so we could only use space heaters to warm the rooms. There was also no heat in the area where the pool table was, which made that space too cold to enjoy. In addition, the kitchen had limited utensils, which made cooking a bit difficult.Overall, the home feels designed more for summer stays, but it has a lot of potential to be a great winter rental too if the heating and kitchen supplies are improved. We still enjoyed our time, and the property itself is lovely.

Thank you for staying with us. We appreciate your comments. The mini splits are the heating and cooling source. The locked thermostat is a HVAC system for back up only. There are remote controls for the mini splits. If you were cold it was your own doing. Again thank you for staying with us. The Cottage on the Lake is beautiful during the winter. The perfect place to stay in American Falls!

Beautiful views, charming house and just a great overall experience! We had my daughter's graduation party here and stayed for a couple nights. None of us wanted to leave! Host was very responsive and accommodating.

We were so pleased we'd chosen this property. The house was immaculate and worked well for our family. There are two bedrooms and a bath downstairs and one bedroom and a bath upstairs. The kitchen was well-stocked. And we had a surprise bonus in the use of a pool table and ping-pong. The owners were very communicative, and we appreciated their helpful reminder the morning we left of what the expectations were. We would definitely choose to stay here again should we be in the area.

The inside of the house was very well done and clean. The outside needs some work. The deck railing are falling apart and the deck needs some repair. The owners are very nice people and we’re on top of the yard care. The view of the lake is wonderful and our overall stay was enjoyable.

Most amazing host and property

I needed to make a last minute change for my daughter's wedding venue and was absolutely panicked. Luckily i just happened to find this place. The host were so helpful and let us set up for the wedding outside early. They literally saved the day! It was beautiful! The property is amazing and the house was absolutely beautiful.

Cottage on the Lake

We had a lovely stay at the cottage on the lake. We had three couples. We went to American Falls for a family get together so we were not at the cottage a lot. We loved the view and the large lawn. We did enjoy the ping pong table. The kitchen was great and we had plenty of room. Be aware that the third bedroom is a loft room upstairs with no door, which was fine with us, but noise did carry upstairs.

Cottage Adjacent is being generous

This could be an amazing spot, but it grossly misses the mark. Beware of a few things: 1) this cottage is not ‘on’ anything. It’s 100 yards from the Snake River and 40 feet above it *note the lake view amenity, because that is all you’re getting.* 2) No AC!!! We arrived to a house that was over 80 degrees and stayed that way, there are two mobile units to cool the home, which are totally insufficient for doing so. Owners are misrepresenting this property! 3) Safety hazards! There is quite a drop to the river, with rocks and boulders and no fencing to keep from falls. Exposed nails, trash and disposed materials, bird feces everywhere (nests throughout the exterior of the house). 4) Rustic is an overstatement. The interior is minimally appointed but the exterior is falling apart, rotten wood, unfinished surfaces, old outdoor furniture. If you’re looking for a quiet time and not wanting to really do anything then this is the spot for you. I would say families with kiddos should avoid, given the lack of access to the river and lack of really anything to do on property and the various safety hazards present. There’s also an old cottage/shed on the property that is completely accessible and looks really unsafe!

I rented this lakeside house in American Falls, Idaho through VRBO for 4 nights starting on July 7th. I texted the owner on July 6th to get the check in details. The following morning, we left Utah. I texted the owner then called and left a message. We began to get concerned after texting and calling 2 more times with no response. We arrived at the house at check in time which was 4:00, no one was there. Finally, I called VRBO and explained the situation. VRBO tried to contact the owner with no success. We requested a refund then drove another 90 miles to Twin Falls as there were no hotels available in American Falls. At 6:00 that evening I got a text from the owner stating he had been the mountains since July 3rd and had no cell service. By not being considerate enough to take care of that little detail of telling us how to get in before he got out of range, we spent 2 nights in hotels before we could get accommodations for somewhere to stay. We had to rearrange the rest of our trip, and cut in short by 3 days. Our vacation was planned 6 mos. ahead and was thrown into disarray due to the owner. I hope he plans better for the future!
