Very nice place and location for what we were looking for. Lots of bag chairs & beach floaty stuff. Close to down town restaurants. Beach was not to populated & you could walk for miles. House is very comfortable with the extra bathroom & laundry in outside building a nice covered area with picnic table.
Relaxing Beach stay in Arroyo!!!We LOVED our stay. A group of 10 rented the whole house, which was perfect. We had 2 coolers and lots of beach chairs and towels. It was stocked with dishes even seasonings and plenty of pans to cook with. The bonus was being right across from the beach and having the 3rd bathroom! This is a great property for a big group. Host was great at communicating and flexible when our plans changed.
We went for a wedding in Patillas, we weren’t familiar with the neighborhood but found out it was a good location.

Liked: Check-in, communication
Disliked: Listing accuracy
The apartments are fine and the AC works. But they are not kid-friendly.The listing REALLY needs to be clarified/updated. It is not a five-bedroom house, as was indicated. Instead, it is two apartments connected by outside stairs. That made it difficult for the kids to play together and for the adults to gather in the evening after the kids were down. Also, the "playground" is unusable and should not be listed as a plus. See attached picture of the rusted and broken merry-go-round.The apartments were not stocked very well. They claimed to have children's dinnerware (there were 2 plastic bowls and 2 plastic cups upstairs) and there was no hand soap at all downstairs and no shampoo or conditioner in either apartment. So we had to go shopping on our first day there. If you do decide to stay, there is a nice "non-wave" beach for the kids off to the right as you are looking at the street. But for what they claim to offer compared to the reality of the place, I think a 3-star review is generous.

Thank you for your feedback, Debi. We’re sorry some aspects didn’t meet your expectations. Just to clarify for future guests: our listing specifies that it’s two separate units rented together, and all bathrooms are stocked with shampoo, conditioner, and hand soap. We also provide children’s dinnerware, and we’ll double-check the inventory.
Regarding the playground, it seems you visited the old municipal one nearby; there’s also a newer one that families usually enjoy. We wish you had reached out during your stay so we could have helped right away.
We’re glad you enjoyed the calm beach and truly appreciate your comments as they help us keep improving.
The VRBO description undersells the property! The Caribbean Sea is steps away - nothing between the house and the beach. The beach is virtually private and the water is warm. Arroyo has fantastic restaurants within a couple of blocks (easy walk) and a large grocery store (called Pueblo) within a mile as well as a smaller store about 5 blocks away. It's touristy on the weekends but the tourists are Puerto Ricans - you won't find a lot of folks from elsewhere. Very authentic. The locals are extremely friendly and many have ties to the 48 states. Many have some English but you'd do well to brush up on your Spanish! You'll be fine either way.My family of 9 adults stayed December 29, 2024, through January 7, 2025. Check-in was easy - Glenda Sanchez (the host) was very accessible. The house has two separated (separate entry) floors with a kitchen and full bath on each floor. There's another full bath outside in another small adjacent building (within the walled complex); the building also contains a laundry room (washer/dryer).We had a great time; various members of our party went to the hot springs, the El Yunque rain forest, the bioluminescent bay on the east coast, the adventure park (ATVs and horseback riding), and salsa dancing! The weekends are amazing - crowds come to the Boardwalk (just west on the beach, music plays, people eat, drink and dance)! But the house is relatively quiet, even though close. If you don't mind the roosters - they get up around 5am!

Why they chose this property
We chose this location because it’s the perfect blend of seaside calm and local island energy. Just steps from the sand at Cangrejo Beach, you can hear the waves and feel the breeze right away — a peaceful start to your day.
Then you’re within walking distance of the Malecón — stroll just a few minutes and you’ll hit charming cafés, seafood spots, and beach bars where locals go. My favorites:
123 Pescao — right on the waterfront, perfect for fresh fish and ocean views.
Los Cuates PR — a relaxed cantina on the Malecón with great local flavor.
Isla Cueva — casual, fun spot near the Malecón with friendly service.
What I love most is how the whole area feels like you’re part of the community, not just a visitor. You’ll walk the ocean path in the evening, maybe grab a drink, hear live local music, and feel the warmth of the island all around.
Staying here means you’re not only near the beach — you’re in a neighborhood where the rhythm of Puerto Rico is real and inviting.
