Excellent experience
Our group of 4 was in the area for a fishing outing. The location was perfect, the house was spotlessly clean and Matt communicated effectively. We would stay there again on a return trip.

Great property
We just needed basic accommodations for one night. This was perfect. For the suggestion box— maybe send the address with the entry instructions. We had to zero in using the map function. The address would help. But overall it was great.

Very Nice!
We had a wonderful overnight stay. We were in the area for a youth fishing tournament and needed somewhere in close proximity to Bull Shoals. This home was very clean and nicely updated. The two boys loved having the bunk room all to themselves. It was an awesome area for the kids to hang out. Everything else was great as well. Would definitely stay here again when in the area!

About the host

Host profile image
Founded in 2022, Cypress Brake Investments is a little family-run operation. Your hosts, Matt and Trevor, are joined by Matt's sister (Krista) and father (Larry) in making sure your stay in our home is a pleasant one.

Although his family originally moved to the area from Iowa, Matt grew up in Mountain Home and moved back to the area from Chicago in 2019. Originally from Stuttgart, Arkansas, Trevor joined him and moved to Mountain Home in 2021. The Prairie House and the Fishing Shack are our first projects and we hope you enjoy them.

Why they chose this property

We stumbled across this property when it was in need of significant remodeling. As we started some demolition work, we discovered the underlying structure was in rough shape and a full to-the-studs (and beyond) renovation began. Among the very unpleasant surprises that led to total rebuilds of the bathroom, kitchen, entry, and stabilization and restoration of the exterior structure, we had one major pleasant surprise: rough hewn timbers with actual axe marks on them inside the walls of what at that time was a storage closet in the hallway. Further (careful) demolition revealed that what was being used as a dining area was actually its own structure, an old one-room cabin! The original door was uncovered under layers of old wall coverings and opened back up, which now leads to the new hallway and bathroom. An area historian shared that the house used to be called "The Prairie House" many years ago and although the main portion of the house was built in the 1940s, there had originally been a cabin from the late 1800s/early 1900s on the property they had believed to be torn down when the main house was built. Turns out someone just built the house around it and covered it all up! We decided to restore some of the rustic charm of the building by exposing the original ceiling of the cabin and highlighting some of the old siding that had been put up at some point pre-1940s. Unfortunately the rough hewn timbers had to be re-enclosed for safety reasons, but just sitting in the dining room and looking at some of the history this house has to share tells a story we hope you'll enjoy.

What makes this property unique

The house is optimally located for visitors that want to be close to the rivers, lakes, and town without sacrificing privacy and space to spread out and relax. Located right on US 62/412 in Gassville, you can be fishing in less than 10 minutes, in Mountain Home in less than 10 minutes, on the lake in 15 minutes, or hiking or biking in one of the many parks or recreation areas in the area within 10-15 minutes.
