Beautiful place. Everything was labeled and neatly arranged. My mom was amazed at all kitchen equipment. It worked out perfectly for home base for wine tasting.
We had everything we needed at this perfect cottage! We enjoyed the hot tub and creek very much too. The owners were responsive and very helpful too. I would definitely return here and highly recommend!
We adored this lovely house. The kitchen was amazingly well-stocked and the grill ready to go. The creek behind the house made the place magical. We will definitely stay here again and for much longer. Thank you for providing such a beautiful, well-kept place!
I wish we could have stayed another week! The location was perfect. We were going for a less touristy experience on this vacation. The setting in a canyon was the perfect vibe. The house was welcoming, comfortable. Hot tub! Kitchen was fully stocked with dishes, cooking essentials, etc.Communication was perfect. Our favorites? Kenwood market, Sonoma plaza, Kendall Jackson winery. Bodega Bay and driving down the coast also close by and lovely.
We enjoyed our stay at this lovely home in a beautiful, quiet, and peaceful setting. Great location to the Kenwood wineries and perfect space for a few adults to get away and enjoy some quiet time together.
Kenwood Cottage was just as advertised. A lovely, peaceful setting with a babbling brook set the tone for a relaxing stay. The house was clean and had everything we needed. It is in a great location. We were able to visit vineyards in Healdsburg and Sonoma easily.
We had a wonderful stay at the Kenwood Cottage! The house was spotless, had everything we needed, comfortable beds, and we enjoyed spending time on the deck as well. The location was perfect for exploring wine country and we enjoyed a hike in the neighboring SugarLoaf Park as well. Highly recommend!
Owners easy to work with. Great pride in their property.. Excellent wineries close by. Hope to stay again.

We do take a lot of pride in the property, as this is our second home. Thorough cleanings between guests, weekly spa service, and a beautiful maintained yard are all part of adding the overall relaxing ambiance of the Kenwood Cottage. Hope to see you again!
Very relaxing comfortable place to stay - will stay again
Very nice and enjoyable place to stay. Enjoyed the deer across the creek every morning while drinking my coffee.
The owners responded very quickly when I had a question.
I will be spending more time here.
This is a perfect wine country home on a creek with a great hot tub. It’s close to wineries, hiking and restaurants. I highly recommend this home for a couple or small family!
Kenwood Cottage was the perfect place for us to stay while in the area for a wedding. We specifically came a few days early to enjoy the surrounding area as well as the peace and quiet of this beautiful cottage. The cottage is very close to numerous wineries. If available, we will definitely stay here again!
This property was incredible!! We enjoyed everything about this little well appointed luxury cottage close to Napa and Sonoma wine country. My favorite part of the whole trip! The hosts are lovely and offer a wonderful vacation spot for cooking, relaxing, and sightseeing. The best VRBO we’ve ever stayed in.

Thank you for the kind words. We are excited to hear this is the best VRBO you’ve stayed in! We visit the property frequently to enjoy the peaceful surroundings. This adds to why the cottage is so well appointed!
House was exactly as advertised, clean, and cute. Nice stream in the backyard and a great location next to Sugar Loaf State Park. I think the only comment I can make beyond “great” is that we stayed there in March and hoping to enjoy warmth and escape the Midwest cold and the house is in a steep valley and so AM/PM sunlight is limited …but that is being pretty pick. Great VRBO

Beautiful Kenwood Cottage
My wife and I spent two nights at this wonderful cottage. Beyond charming, it's as described by Wayne and Laura. The grounds are so well kept and the back of the property with the stream running through is so peaceful. Wish we could have stayed longer! We definately plan to visit again!

We are glad you enjoyed your stay and that the cottage was everything you expected and as we describe. We are constantly updating and improving the property and look forward to having you back soon!
Very nice setting by the creek. Even though much of our time was spent indoors due to the rainy weather, we could hear and see the creek from the house. Very calming setting.
The rules were incredibly strict. No visitors beyond the 4 people on the reservation. Everyone was required to be over 18. Questioning about what our intentions were with renting the property. Luckily we were there for a 1/2 marathon and were able to meet all the criteria but the rigidness of the rules and questioning would be why I wouldn't choose to stay there again in the future.

We provide detailed instructions prior to anyone renting and if they are not in agreement they can choose not to rent. This renter didn’t read the instructions, obviously, as we do allow children of all ages (no requirement that guests have to be over 18, we just require that the renter that books the property be over 18!). We are only permitted through the county to have 4 guests overnight and that is clearly disclosed. We don’t allow large parties (the county is very strict on vacation rentals). As a courtesy to our neighbors we ask if others will be visiting.
My son, his wife, and I spent the weekend at the Kenwood Cottage for a quick trip to Napa/Sonoma. Everything about the cottage was as described. The house was spotless, and easy to find things. Wayne and Laura provided directions on how to operate things like the hot tub and TV. The kitchen had everything you would need for cooking. The garden and patio were immaculate and very comfortable. Access to wineries and restaurants was easy. I would love to return!

Awesome get away!
This place was fantastic. Close by good wineries, right at the foot of the park and a fabulous hike up Bald Mountain, near wonderful restaurants, plus so cozy and quint. They provide all the amenities and it is so clean and well kept. Perfect size hot tub in the back, creek flowing in the back, chairs, lunges, BBQ, wifi, even oils and spices and some essentials in the kitchen. I would highly recommend them!

We work hard to make the Kenwood Cottage a home away from home and extra special in many ways given the beautiful setting. This review is typical to the experience all of our guests have (we have posted others on our website).
Whether you are coming to enjoy a quiet weekend, or to venture out to go wine tasting, hiking, shopping, or eating at some of the fine restaurants located within 5 min of the Kenwood Cottage, you are sure to have an unforgettable experience.
Peaceful, cozy, exceptionally clean, sets the standard for any place we visit in the future. The setting was beautiful. The only thing we needed was food. Restaurants and wineries were easily accessible. On a scale of 1 to 5 we rate Kenwood Cottage a 10! Hosts Wayne and Laura were always available if we needed them.

About the host
Hosted by Wayne and Laura Best
We are a happily married couple of over 42 years and live in the San Francisco Bay Area. Wayne is the chief economist at a Fortune 500 firm and Laura spends time with their grandson and manages the Kenwood Cottage. We enjoy cooking, wine tasting, relaxing, travel and sight seeing; all of these we found at the Kenwood Cottage!
Why they chose this property
Kenwood is a small town in the heart of Sonoma Valley. We spent over 5 years looking for just the right place in the wine country. Once we became familiar with the differences between Sonoma and Napa, we landed on Sonoma due to its more laid back and friendly atmosphere. The charming town of Kenwood had it all for us and the Kenwood Cottage with its canyon setting and lovely sounds from the year round creek really sold us. We have had this property since 2006 - we are constantly upgrading the Kenwood Cottage!
Not familiar with Kenwood? Look what the Wine Spectator wrote in a recent edition about the area, “There are beautiful wine roads all over the world, rambling through Tuscany and Provence, or along the Rhine in Germany's Rheingau. But you needn't cross the ocean to find some. The route, coming into Kenwood as you drive north through Sonoma Valley, the mountains ribbed with hillside vineyards, is in the same league.”
This is why we so fell in love with the area and why this is such a great place to relax and unwind.
Experience the much more laid back atmosphere of Sonoma vs Napa valley where it is not uncommon to have the wine maker pouring his own wines, the staff more friendly and passionate than we have found in other regions.
What makes this property unique
Nearly all the other properties listed above and below this one on VRBO do not have the quiet, canyon setting with a creek running through the property and the ambiance that creates for our guests. Don’t be misled - other properties are nearly all in residential neighborhoods and are not a serene, relaxing environment. Yet the location of the Kenwood Cottage is so ideal: only a mile from over 25 excellent wineries, yet romantic and secluded. It was everything we had hoped for after looking for a second home for over 5 years.
We use the cottage when it is not rented and thus, have it fully equipped the way we want to enjoy it and make all of these amenities available to our guests.
We provide a complete guest guide that tells you not only everything you need to know about the cottage, but also all the great wineries, restaurants, and things to do around the cottage.
Walking on the seldom traveled road in front of the Kenwood Cottage is a favorite thing to do in the morning hours. Coffee on the secluded rear deck overlooking the creek (or while in the hot tub) is also a morning favorite. We often head to a local store (we provide many ideas where in our guest guide) to pick up picnic supplies (we keep a picnic cooler for you at the cottage) and then head out for wine tasting and picnicking.
The exciting part for us is that every year, the wines change! So we often revisit the local wineries several times per year to enjoy their new offerings. Once back from wine tasting/exploring/hiking, we relax in our front yard garden with some wine and cheese and then either enjoy one of the many great restaurants within minutes of the cottage or prepare a feast with our fully equipped kitchen. We finish the evening sitting in the hot tub looking up at the millions of stars (it is amazing what a slight elevation change from the valley floor will do to make millions more stars appear!). Tell me, what is there not to LOVE about this destination!
