Morning Light is a craftsman style home completed in May 2009 that was featured residence in Bald Head Island's annual magazine, Haven. Whether for family re-unions or for a romantic or personal escape this open and inspired floor plan, with a modern kitchen of mahogany cabinets and concrete counter tops, exotic wooden floors, abundant screened porches, hand crafted furniture, custom baths with open showers and soaking tubs, with a view, will transform your well deserved vacation into a breathtaking experience and lasting memory. There are 2 golf carts for guests' convenience: 1 x 4 passenger and 1 x 6 passenger.

Temporary memberships to the Shoals Club and Bald Head Island Club are available with this rental.

My Happy Place

Awesome Bald Head house

We really enjoyed our stay at Morning Light. The home is well appointed and very beautiful. Nice tranquil forest views. Convenient to market and beach. Nice linens. Highly recommend.

Great stay!

We stayed at Morning Light with my adult sons and their girlfriends. The house is made to have family. The common areas are inviting and make for great dinners and game nights. The rooms provide space and privacy. Location is close to beach and the Mercantile. Highly recommend.

The breathtaking tree house that never ends

When you walk up to this house you will be amazed by the decor and every detail of your stay. The house is huge and surrounded by the maritime forest. We enjoyed the house and the island and we await the opportunity to be able to come again.

Beautiful, serene, immaculate

We loved staying at Morning Light even though the weather didn’t cooperate during our weekend trip. The house is gorgeous, with everything we needed and more. Comfortable beds. Peaceful wooded setting. Incredible architecture, decor, and furnishings. The host was friendly, attentive and helpful throughout! Would highly recommend!!

Wonderful house

What a beautiful house to spend Christmas in. The owners were so sweet and helpful. The setting was gorgeous, and the house was so comfortable and perfect for a winter-time stay. Two of us in our little group are architects, so we could definitely appreciate the house's thoughtful design - really we all did. SUCH a good vibe in this place. We would definitely like to return to this house in the warmer months so we could take advantage of the wonderful screened porch and decks more! To the owners...thank you so much for your hospitality.

Gracious Island Beauty

What a treat to stay in this uniquely beautiful home! Every expansive window draws in the light and shadow and stories of the island forest that surrounds it. Thank you for sharing the warmth and artistry of your home with our family. Thank you for the gracious extras you provide and for the wonderful kitchen and dining table that became the centerpiece for our meals and game nights. Thank you for so graciously providing items for our grandbaby to use. Thank you for providing a bocce set (we had a family tournament at the Point — so memorable). It was a gift to our family to create new memories, on this island we have loved for many years. We would come back to Morning Light in a heartbeat!!

Like an art gallery

The home is an architectural treat, with floor to ceiling windows in the living room that make you feel immersed in the backyard forest. The owners have superb taste in art and design, with something unique, interesting and beautiful to look at on all the walls and shelves. It's like staying in an art gallery - you could spend a rainy afternoon with a tilted head, chin in hand, examining the intriguing works of art and craft. The owners could not be more helpful and friendly. A special shout out to Plunkett, who called us the day before our check-in to review details with us, and then showed up herself on the last day to supervise and help with the cleaning. She was a delight to chat with. We've been to BHI a dozen times in the past 24 years, and this was our best experience ever!

Wonderful Thanksgiving Stay

From the moment we entered this beautiful home we felt so comfortable and relaxed. The home is so welcoming and has all the amenities you could need. Our family had a terrific visit . Tree House Paradise

Loved being in the forest

This home is perfection! The calmness of being surrounded by the forest paired with all the comfy linens and well stocked kitchen made this our favorite home to date on BHI. The owners are wonderful and very responsive. 10/10 would recommend and have already rebooked for next year!

My favorite sanctuary

Morning Light is a unique home that was perfect for our family vacation. Our hosts were more than kind and thoughtful ( bringing forgotten car keys to us before we took the ferry home!). The house itself is a architectural gem nestled in the woods of Bald Head Island. We loved it!

One-of-a-kind retreat

Stunning custom-built home in the maritime forest--just minutes from the beach and nearby market but tucked away for total privacy and amazing views. We have rented this home multiple times. Beautifully maintained and very tastefully furnished and decorated. Lots of space for your group to enjoy.

House in the Woods on Bald Head Island

The pictures do not do this house justice. It has many architectural features and decorative elements that make it a unique and interesting home. The bedrooms are very comfortable and the large windows provide beautiful views of the surrounding woods. We were three couples and the rooms were separated to give each of us privacy. The kitchen was very well stocked. There were large dining areas by the kitchen and on the porch. We enjoyed our stay and hope we can return some day.

Serenity

This house is just poor serenity! A great retreat for an adult getaway. The bedrooms each have a spa-like bathroom and are in separate areas within the house which is perfect for couples or girls trips. Unique relaxation and dining areas throughout the property inside the house and outside on the decks. Feels like living in a treehouse.

Our best Bald Head experience yet!

From the time we booked to when we left the owners (Plunkett) we’re absolutely amazing. Very attentive to details. Went out of their way to make sure our experience was the best. This home is gorgeous and the kitchen is well stocked with everything you need for your stay. All the bedrooms were beautiful, large windows with so much natural light. The house was broken up in a way that allows you to have different experiences and space for different group activities. The golf carts worked great and 4 bikes were provided. We will definitely rent this property again!!

We have been enjoying Bald Head Island since its inception and we have enjoyed watching it grow. Our family has grown up spending summers and holidays enjoying the majestic scenery and all the Bald Head has to offer. We chose to purchase and build in the Maritime Forrest for its privacy and calming affect. We've accumulated ideas and artifacts throughout our travels that have inspired our design for the home and we hope you will enjoy as much as we have.

Why they chose this property

The Maritime Forrest is quietly nestled near the center of the island and offers beautiful privacy while being in close proximity to the beaches and all that Bald Head has to offer. This home and property certainly is a "must see"!
