About this property

Rockport Eco Homestead

Come unplug at the Main House of Hill Spring Homestead. Central location only 10 minutes from Camden, 8 minutes from Rockport and Rockland. Full private use of the hand crafted main house will be yours. Three bedrooms and full bath with brand new clawfoot tub upstairs, plus additional sleeping area (office with queen sofa bed) and another full bath with laundry and farmer's sink on the first floor provide accommodations for the whole family, or a group of friends. Organic fruit trees, vegetable gardens, trees, and flowers will greet you out every window. Take in the bird songs while you enjoy morning coffee or evening drinks on the wrap around deck. Deck table seats 8. Build a bonfire and enjoy the stars at the large fire pit. Breathe easily knowing the home and organic linens are cleaned with plastic free all natural products, and electricity comes from the solar grid. Meditate, journal, paint, or read in the sun filled cupola. If you have the privilege of enjoying a magical, misty, cool Maine summer day here light a fire in the woodstove and cozy up with a book, or do a puzzle, in the open concept downstairs. If you're ready for adventure there are mountains, ocean, lakes, rivers, shopping, galleries, restaurants, and exceptional locally produced food all within a 10-20 minute drive. Take a day trip to Acadia National Park, Portland, or countless beautiful seaside towns along the Mid Coast. Let us know if you'd like to use our 2 double kayaks during your stay. Our family (including sweet natured Golden mix and 2 kitties) shares the property in adjacent guest house. We are happy to provide recommendations and suggestions so you can enjoy Mid Coast like a local, and will be available should you need us, but we are often away from home at work so you will have plenty of privacy. Welcome to a true get away!

Great place Midcoast Maine
Beautiful house in beautiful setting with gracious, friendly and knowledgeable hosts. Easy access to everything you might be interested in doing in Midcoast Maine- ocean and mountain. The Rockford/Rockport area is much less crowded and touristy than the coast further north. Highest recommendation.

Beautiful & Relaxing
We had an amazing experience for the week we stayed here. The home is very well laid out and quiet, set back from the road. The raspberries were in season, and our kids had a lot of fun picking and devouring them. The location is just a short drive from many locations along the coast. Play room was stocked with toys and games, and we really appreciated the responsiveness of the hosts to questions and requests. We would definitely return!

Hello! I am a midwife living and working in MidCoast Maine. My husband and I settled here so that we could slow down as a family, let our kids grow up in a place where they are familiar with dirt and bugs, and build a more sustainable life. We couldn't be luckier to have landed on this little slice of paradise and can't wait to share it with you.

Why they chose this property

Rockport is an incredible location, both for the immediate surroundings, as well as for its accessibility to so many amazing places both north and south. Drive to Bar Harbor in just under 2 hours, Portland 1 hr 30 min, Freeport shopping and outlets 1hr 15min, Belfast is 35 minutes, Damariscotta is 30 minutes, Bristol/Pemaquid Beach are 45 minutes, Port Clyde is 25 minutes, and Vinalhaven and Mongehan are just a ferry ride away. Although many people enjoy vacationing here, it is never as crowded as Acadia or the southern coast- it is truly peaceful here.

What makes this property unique

This is a primary residence during the fall and winter months, so is fully equipped with all the comforts of home. If you care about your environmental footprint, you're looking for room for the whole family or a few couples, and want an idyllic location close to the many adventures that await you in the MidCoast, this is your spot. Slow down, go back in time, and experience Maine summer- The Way Life Should Be!
