Ephraim Chalet - Cozy, Large Yard, Family Friendly
Welcome to the Ephraim Chalet, a cozy getaway tucked into the woods yet close to many of the activities of Door County!
The main level is elevated and the 3 bedrooms are on the upper floor so the ability to climb stairs is a must.
The Chalet has new teak floors throughout, a wood burning fireplace, Roku TV with cable television, family games and a large yard with a firepit and grill. Enjoy morning coffee or an evening cocktail on one of the 2 decks and you may see deer or other wildlife wandering through the yard.
This is a perfect vacation getaway for a family and children! The Chalet has 2 lounge areas including the living room with a Door County fieldstone fireplace and a great view of the yard as well as the den where you can curl up in front of the Roku TV in case of inclement weather. The light filled master bedroom opens onto a private deck and has a king bed (as well as room for a portable crib if traveling with a little one). Please note, there are blinds on the lower windows and sliding door, but no window coverings on the upper small windows. The second cozy bedroom has a queen bed and dresser. The third bedroom can sleep 6 children, 3 adults or a combination. This bedroom has a full over full bunk bed and a third full bed low to the ground. The third low full bed is close to a slanted wall so would not be suitable for 2 adults.
There is a full bath with a combined shower and tub on the upper level and a half bath on the main level off of the kitchen. The retro kitchen is fully equipped and there is even a popcorn maker!
The Chalet is about a 5 minute walk from Anderson Dock, home to the graffitied Hardy Gallery, and hiking at the Anderson Pond Land Trust reserve. Walking 5 minutes further will bring you to the center of the village where you will find famous Wilson's Ice Cream, The Fashionable, Pearl Wine Bar, Ephraim Coffee Lab, Bad Moravian (beer), Chef's Hat (great for breakfast, lunch and dinner), Sunset Harbor Grill (great views), and the Old Post Office (breakfast and fish boils). South Shore Pier is also located in the center of the village where you can charter a sailboat or parasail ride as well as rent WaveRunners, pontoons, paddle boats and kayaks.
The Village of Ephraim was founded in 1853 and has retained its charm over the years. We believe Ephraim is one of the most picturesque villages in Door County in part because a large part of the shoreline is undeveloped, allowing views across to Peninsula State Park, and many historical structures are still intact. Residents and vacationers alike flock to the shoreline to watch the sunsets. Visits to one or all of the historical buildings, including the Old Schoolhouse, the Iverson House and the Anderson Store, are always fascinating. You will find the entrance to Peninsula State Park about a mile and a half south of the Chalet. The park has miles of hiking and biking, golf, a beach, sledding, and cross country skiing. It is also the home to the whimsical musicals of the outdoor Northern Sky Theater.
About 5 miles north of the Chalet is the bustling Village of Sister Bay. Drive 10 minutes to the east and you will find yourself on the lakeside in Bailey's Harbor.
Due to the new hardwood floors, we are strict on our no pet policy. We would also appreciate it if guests removed their shoes upon entering the chalet. This is a no smoking property. We ask guests who use the upper bunk to make their own bed with the bedding provided.Thank you for your understanding.
We look forward to welcoming you to the Chalet and will strive to make it a 5-star experience!

Overall a great experience up in northern Door County! Property was as described, very clean, and host was very good about communicating and making sure our stay was a good one.
Awesome property! My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It has such a serene setting and is close to everything! This house is well laid out for families, with a great floor plan, lots of sleeping space, great yard and amazing deck. The house was clean, tidy, and had everything we needed. The owners were good communicators and seemed very nice.
I booked this back in November for my Bachelorette and this place was absolutely perfect. It’s in a great location in Ephraim- 5 minute drive both ways to Fish Creek and Sister Bay. They stocked the house perfectly so we were able to make meals, and didn’t have to shop for many additional items. It was the perfect cozy getaway in a fabulous location.
Super comfortable, clean, and cozy cabin! Great communication from owners, both via emails/texts and through notes and instructions left throughout the house. Property is well kept and not too close to neighbors so it feels nice and private and there are plenty of cute shops and restaurants close by.
We all loved this home. Nestled in a private area in Ephraim we enjoyed all the beautiful trees and peaceful environment. At the same time we were walking distance to restaurants, coffee and the Bay. We were able to get to many wonderful places in Door County!

Hi Julie,
So glad you enjoyed your stay. We would love to host you another time. Enjoy the rest of your summer, Alison
A group of 8 of us stayed at the Ephraim Chalet for an extended weekend. We loved having a few different places to sit, relax, and have conversations. It was very clean and everything in the description was accurately described. It was located close to a lot of attractions. We could not have been more happy with the Chalet and will definitely be back!
We had a very comfortable stay at the Chalet. This beautiful cabin was immaculate, well furnished, and in a great location. What we loved most was that it was walking distance to Ephraim but not in the center pf town which can get noisy. We also loved the decor - it was well furnished in a retro style that wasn't overdone. There was everything you need to cook meals and bake but the cupboards were not overflowing with pots and pans etc. You can tell this cabin is well taken care of. Having morning coffee on the deck was lovely. There was enough space for the 5 of us to feel comfortable and sneak away for some alone time. We would definitely stay here again!
Secluded, quiet, completer with everything you could ever want in Door County, and clean. I mean hospital-surgical-room clean. The property managers, Alison and Simon, are excellent communicators. They care, and it shows. The kitchen is complete, the beds are very comfortable, plenty of blankets and pillows, amazing decks on both floors, and super comfortable furniture through the house. The Chalet is close to everything. Restaurants, shops, the Bay, and fantastic places to watch sunsets. And the floor…it’s absolutely beautiful. It’ll sleep up to 10, but perfect for 2..clearly, I most highly recommend The Chalet in Ephraim!

About the host
Hosted by Alison or Jerri
Hi, my name is Alison and I am a 6th generation descendant of one of the original settlers in Ephraim, Ole Larsen, who came over from Norway in the 1850s. I spent every summer of my childhood in Ephraim and have always held these memories close. I moved to Door County in 2010 with my husband and we each now own our own small business in the area. We also have a young son and old dog to keep us busy. We are excited to share our love of Door County and Ephraim with our guests and are happy that other families can build traditions like our own. My husband Simon and I are here to help you have a fantastic vacation.
Why they chose this property
Ephraim has always been my favorite village on the peninsula, partially because of my historical ties, but also because of its beauty and the way Ephraim has managed to retain its charm despite continued development all around. The chalet is located in such a fabulous location because it is hidden away, tucked into the woods, yet close to the village center and just a short drive to many of the attractions.
What makes this property unique
Our property is unique because it has the cozy vibe of a Swiss chalet, with its all wood interior and exterior and wood burning fireplace. Children can adventure in the adjacent woods or burn off energy running and playing games in the large yard. The decks, fire pit and outdoor seating allow our guests to leave their every day lives behind and relax in the beauty of nature.
