We chose this property to be a vacation rental because of the location. Located in the historic cathedral district it is tucked in with many other historic buildings. This property is in a particularly beautiful part of downtown Dubuque. It is just far enough off the main street to give you the quiet you need and yet close enough to shops, tourist attractions, and night life within walking distance. The Fenlon elevator, the "world's steepest, shortest scenic railway.” elevating passengers 189 feed from Fourth Street up to Fenelon Place is practically in the back yard. It is conveniently hidden by the trees so not to detract from the relaxing back yard experience. The Five Flags Center, hosting some of the biggest names in music and entertainment is less than a half mile away. The city library, county court house, post office, and many quaint little shops are right around the corner. I love all the amenities within walking distance and we hope you will too. There is something for every need. In the mood for something sweet? Walk half a block around the corner to Sweet Memories Ice cream shop. In the mood for a local coffee shop? Try Monks, they have a great coffee and a fun atmosphere. Check out the 35 murals scattered about downtown Dubuque. We haven't found them all yet either. Just a bit further but still within walking distance (if you are up for it) is the National Mississippi River Museum, Diamond Jo Casino, and the mighty Mississippi itself.
