About Christine Cole
The Berry Patch was originally purchased by Marian Poett Howard who the gave it to her son, J.H. P. Howard, and the property has since been passed on to his children and grandchildren. This beautiful slice of heaven on Greenwood Dr., just one-mile east of the tiny town of Leaburg, is now being shared with the lucky ones who discover it.
Christine Cole purchased this House in 1939
Why Christine Cole chose Walterville
This home is available for long term rental from September through as late as June. However, sometimes it is available as a vacation rental, the calendar reflecting which.
What makes this House unique
This property is tucked back and away, so the peace and quiet is fabulous. Additionally, there is no match for the wide calm area of river below the house, which makes swimming, floating, and wading safe and available. During July and August, the 5-acres of blueberries are there for you to pop into your mouth just outside your door. There is NOTHING more delicious than a sun-warmed blueberry! Plus, if you want to take blueberries home, the manager will show you how to pick and send you off with buckets to the very best rows. The cost of these berries is far less than you will find in the stores, too!!

The view of the river from the deck or yard was wonderful and viewing all of the bird life on the river was very entertaining. We also had wild turkeys in the front yard. Thank you.
Peaceful and Relaxing Cabin
We only had one day at the Berry Patch cabin but it was quiet, relaxing and peaceful. It was just as described. You can fish in the river, pick blueberries and soak in the hot tub. We especially enjoyed the balcony deck overlooking the river. Hopefully next time we'll be able to spend more time there.
Beautiful villa on the river.
This is the wonderful nature aroind the well maintained house with a stunning view and direct access to Mckenzie river.
We enjoyed our stay and we are hopping for more to come.
Beautiful property, great location! The property was awesome with river views and the blueberry patch was seriously cool!!
Vintage cottage feel in a blueberry farm on the river.
Beautiful, tranquil, peaceful setting with some unexpected perks!
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay! We stayed there nights. Cooked breakfast lunch and dinner and found everything we needed in the kitchen. Beds were comfy and the place was clean. One afternoon we watched an osprey chasing a Herron back and forth in the sky above the river. Every evening a group of wild turkeys came through the front yard eating berries along the way to resting in the tall firs surrounding the house. Who knew they could fly??? We took walks every evening down the quiet road that frontage the property. There's an old cemetary and a fish hatchery near by. On the morning we were leaving we picked blueberries in the patch to take home. Had a great stay!
The Berry Patch is just 30-minutes from Eugene-Springfield, a bustling university metropolis. You will find everything you need there, that is if you feel like leaving the peaceful riverside ambiance of the Berry Patch.
