CAUTION. CAUTION. CAUTION. Luxury Hotel Cost for Hostel-like Experiance.
First, let me start by saying the location, pictures and description sound very intriguing, BUT think twice before you book! You share this space with STRANGERS.
Can you imagine having a cup of coffee in the morning on the back porch only to have a couple come out, the man shirtless, to soak in the hot tub an arm length away! Well that was my experience. I was blindsided and don’t want you to be.
This listing does not say they converted the garage into an in law unit and also rent to separate people AT THE SAME TIME! It’s greedy. It’s invasive. It’s rude and ruined our trip. We had a 1 year old baby here, it’s still COVID and unsanitary to share communal spaces with strangers especially when you book the “entire” house.
I immediately messaged the host and said we’ll you rented the “front” house. We paid $1400 to have privacy.
I booked this place to celebrate our mom’s 55th birthday. Myself, husband and 1year old with siblings flying from California, Texas and Georgia. It was 8 of us since the house said sleeps 10, we thought it would be plenty of space. This was not the case. When I asked Leslie how, she said people can sleep on the living room floor. Like what! Then said there should be an air mattress somewhere. There were bit extra sheets to cover the mattress, no extra blankets, not extra pillows. Just a deflated mattress in the closet.
We were will to over look that inconvenience since the house overall “seemed” nice and is only a short walk to downtown. But when I seen two strangers, drinking a beer out the master bedroom back door to the “shared” space, and where the baby slept, I was furious! I immediately asked to leave and get my money back. Leslie flat out refused saying the description said “shared”. But no where did it say shared with strangers, as I thought for family and friends to share together. I was disgusted.
I spent 6 hours on the phone with VRBO trying to resolve the issue, get my money back and relocate my family. Needless to say after a tireless day, I was only able to get $500 back if I agreed not to leave a review, VRBO didn’t reimburse or relocate and encouraged me to leave a review for others and tell Leslie to change the description to say “shared with other people”. Since she still hasn’t changed the description, I’m leaving the review to warn you. DONT DO IT! Unless you enjoy paying premium for privacy but stay in a hostel environment.
