About this property

Magnificent Cabin views of Sangre De Cristo Mountain Range, and Wet Mountains.

A magnificent taste of Heaven with the Sangre De Cristo Mountain Range, at least 5 14'ers, with 52 Lakes, hiking and trails. The back deck and master view of the Wet Mountain rolling meadows, and hills will just captivate you. We have 4 decks to enjoy every angle of this paradise and once here you will never want to leave. This is a brand-new build with a Rustic Chic environment. You will feel relaxed on our 36.2 acres of land with the friendly deer at our doorstep. We have all brand-new beds, with upscale linen, all baking and cooking supplies are here for your use as the 36" Viking Oven and Stove top is amazing with all the upgrades.

We have wildflowers blooming everywhere, and the front of the property is filled with trees, and a tree fort for all to enjoy. Lake Deweese is only 15 minutes from the Cabin and all the luxuries of a small town, with Art Galleries, Custom Wood shops, Mills, Restaurants, Bakeries, Florist and so much more. We are only 1 hour from Salida, 60 Minutes from the Pueblo Reservoir, 50 minutes from Bishops Castle and so much more, as you need to check out the Visitors Center. This Dark Sky Community also welcomes the Rodeo, Music Festivals, Car shows and the best hospitality.

The Challenger Lodge is a dream come true, with all logs hand planed, sanded and stained. We have taken so much pride in all we created here for you. It was never intended as a Vrbo or any rental property , however since my dream retirement home is not in the near future, i am thinking of so many people might really love this environment, landscape, sites, view, and Heaven.

The dreams of the skies and land end with this property, will see it all. Just a vision come to life here at The Challenger Lodge, where your dreams of unparallel comfort and a beautiful cabin. come true, and we so hope you love what we have created for you. We have a private airport just 2 miles from the cabin so fly in.

May you be blessed each and every day of your life and the beauty of Westcliffe, 2200 CR 310, always be your most special moments, adventures, and loving memories.

Perfect Holiday Vacation!
The cabin is beautiful and the mountain views are unbeatable! The owner Laurie was very hospitable and attentive to our needs. The cabin is stocked with absolutely everything you would ever need. There was more than enough room for our family of 5. This was truly one of the best family vacations we have ever had!

Spectacular views and so comfortable!
I visited with 2 friends to attend the Rad Dirt Fest in Trinidad. It’s a bit of a drive from Trinidad, but we were staying for several days and wanted to be comfortable. The home is at ~8500’, so good for us flatlanders attempting to acclimate. The home is exceptional and the owner, Laurie, was gracious and accommodating. She made sure we’re were comfortable and that we had everything needed. The home is well appointed (a lot of snacks too), and the decks, with views of the Sangre de Cristo mountains, are awesome! The home and property are quiet and peaceful and just a wonderful place for relaxing getaway. We made a view visits to Westcliffe for pizza and Italian food, road bikes on the local gravel roads (more great views), and were able to run in solitude right from the door. Great home, terrific owner, and look forward to returning!

---------------------------

We were lucky enough to spend two nights at this 5 out of 5 lodge near Westcliffe. It was amazing! The home is spectacular, beautifully appointed, with every modern amenity you could think of. The views of the Sangre de Cristo mountains are captivating, especially at night when the sunrise turns a saturated red you won't see elsewhere. Sitting on 30+ acres, there are few other homes nearby, giving you gorgeous views of the mountains and grasslands in all directions. Hummingbirds come right up to the feeders on the patio, and we even got to see some deer! Stay inside and read on the couch while enjoying the air conditioning and fans or take in the breeze on the wrap-around patio or second floor balcony. If you have to pull yourself away from the utter beauty that surrounds you to do some work, know that there is cell phone service, and the proprietors kindly offer free internet. Sit at the dining room table or bring your work outside to one of their multiple sitting areas. Feel like going into town? The quaint town of Westcliffe is only around 15 minutes away, with restaurants, an ice cream shop, a hardware store, grocery store, and small boutiques. Thank you so much to the owners for giving us a lovely weekend. If you are looking to get away from it all, this rustic but modern home with stunning views and a perfectly decorated interior is the place to be! We were truly blown away and would love to visit again to see the fall foliage! It has something wonderful to offer in every season and is, by far, the most striking property I have seen in the area!
